Sleep
Wow... I sleep A LOT since I got home from the hospital. I'm feeling stronger every day but I still sleep about 14 of every 24 hours. I'm like an infant!
Thankfully, I seem to be through with the "feeling sorry for myself" phase and moving into the "God, I'm lucky" phase. Seriously. I'm never going to have to go through a lumpectomy or chemotherapy or radiation or the terror of feeling a lump. How awesome is that? And I've experienced in so many ways how wonderful my friends, family, and coworkers are. Oh, and my fiance is an ANGEL.
So now my task is recovery. I need to come up with an eating plan that ensures I get enough nutrition to heal but also takes into account the fact that I'm going to be pretty much inactive for the next few months. Ideas? Suggestions? Vitamins I should take (my mom keeps suggesting Vitamin E) or foods to eat/stay away from?
I'm off to check in with all of you--thanks again for your support!

You
You need to focus on yourself for awhile and follow doctor's orders. Anyhow, you have a wedding to plan, right? Time to get a hold of some magazines and get your planner started.
You're in my thoughts. Have a great day!

Foods
Thanks for stopping by my blog. I'm glad you're doing so well. I would recommend eating TONS of green leafy veggies (kale, chard, collards, etc), brown rice (complex carbs, easier to metabolize), lots of fruit (tis the season!), and maybe a good multivitamin (make sure it has lots of calcium!). It's important not to eat a whole lot of processed foods or sugar. If you eat sweets, try to stick to things sweetened with honey, fruit juice, or malted barley. Processed sugar, including high fructose corn syrup, can wreak havoc with your immune system.
Good luck with the recovery process, and don't try to rush your body. You'll heal in no time.

Wishes for a speedy recovery

Take care,

Vitamin E
Your mum is right about the Vitamin E - apparently it helps with scarring, among other things. Something to think about, perhaps...
I just want to say that you are a huge inspiration, both with weight loss and your other health issues. I'll be honest - if I was in your position, I would have flat out refused the surgery. No way. But you going ahead with it shows just how strong you are, and I have no doubt that you'll have a speedy and healthy recovery.
Best wishes, and here's hoping you don't have any more massive hurdles to jump!

Thinking of you
Sleep is key! Give your body time to heal. But what's amazing is that you're being so positive about all this. That attitude will also definitely aid in the healing process. Be well!!

Good for you!
Hi, I stumbled across your blog and want to wish you a speedy recovery.
You are very brave-- I know the breast cancer risk story: my sister had BC at age 36 and I am 37 now. We don't have the gene in my family, so noone recommends a double mastectomy for me-- only 6 month monitoring (MRI's, mammo's, sono's.)
I am so happy for you that you made this choice-- it sounds so right for you, and you are very fortunate in the fact that you won't have all the freaky monitoring-- it's an anxiety attack for me every 6 months...
Anyhow: I wish you the best.

Wow! Your story is so inspirational. Everything you have delt with and overcome, from breast cancer gene to bolemia to Kit Kat cravings. Hearing your daily struggles and how you were able to overcome them was just amaizing. I hope you are recovering well and having a wonderful life with your fiance (or maybe husband by now.)
Oh and by the way, that novel you wanted to write.....just print out your blog and send it to a publisher. It reads like a top seller.
