Jealous

I'm so jealous of my aunt! Everybody says I'm crazy & get over it, but I can't help it. I'm jealous. See, my aunt is about 10 inches taller than  me and weighs about 20 pounds more than me. She doesn't look it! Put us side-by-side and everybody guesses that I weigh the most. We wear the same size pants currently, but when she was my weight, she wore a full size smaller. She  holds her weight well. Everytime we go anywhere together, she gets guys flirting & hitting on her. I'm married so I don't need the guys hitting on me, but sure is nice to turns heads once in awhile! I don't need to hear I'm crazy, or that it's a curse of being short, yada yada yada. I know all that. I'm just jealous anyway. On the other hand, it motivates me to push a little more. This weight will come off & I will look smaller & feel healthier. I KNOW IT!

Okay enough of my ranting. Lets end on a positive note. I am still on progress with my goals for the week. I'm doing well & feeling great whenever I check something off as accomplished. My children are paying more attention to what they eat, too. One of my younger daughters actually chose an apple over candy or chips for snack time! She said it would probably fill her up more, has less calories, & is healthier. She didn't even blink twice at the junk food.  My other children chose to share popcorn, which is a decent choice, too. I love the fact that they're making healthier decisions without me pushing or forcing them. By choosing to eat better on their own, they're establishing good eating habits for life. If I forced them to change their eating habits completely,  I think they'd rebel and go junk food crazy when I wasn't around. Mind  you, I am making healthier dinners & do insist they at least try & taste their vegetables; but I let them make their own lunch & snack choices.

Well, I'm off to walk the dogs & get some sleep. I feel better for venting & thinking of  that apple is making me smile again.

Best wishes everybody!

Where did Monday go? Week 1: 01/07/2008-01/13/2008

Whoops! I missed Monday. DH was ill, so I stayed off the computer (located in bedroom) so he could rest.  Anyway, I really am back & glad you noticed. Made me smile to see your comments. Thanks for the kind words ya'll! I've been missing e.p. and all the kindness & support from you. The people on this site really do make a difference. Especially helpful when I'm avoiding the munchies!

Here are my goals for this week:

  • Drink 90 oz. water daily
  • Take my vitamins daily
  • Walk 3 miles (minimum) daily
  • Go to Curves, minimum 3x this week
  • Do 2 reps of ab crunches 3x this week
  • Do 1 extra set of arm exercises (evil bat wings!) this week
  • Lose 2 pounds this week!
  • Maintain a food log this week so I can learn portion sizes & control!

Good luck & best wishes to everybody trying to lose & improve!

New year, same goal to be a new me!

Hello everybody! I'm back! Wait, did anybody even notice I was gone? Don't answer that! LOL I am happy to say that the holidays are behind me & while I overspent as usual, I didn't overeat too much.  I've been playing with the same 1/2 pound on the scale for the past 6 weeks or so. I didn't really lose any weight, but I didn't gain, either. So, that makes a good start to the new year.

Hadn't really been to the gym much in the past 2 months. Between moving, the holidays, feeling blah, etc.. it was pretty much hit & miss with tons more missing than hitting. I did manage to keep walking a couple of miles a day, mostly because I had to walk the dogs. I think that's what kept me from gaining over the holidays. Forced exercise!

Last week I started preparing to go back on my fitness schedule by making a couple of trips to the gym & mapping out my walking route so I'd know the milage. Tomorrow my dh starts a 'biggest loser' contest at work. I figure that is the perfect time to restart my daily/weekly goals chart & get my butt moving! I'm also going to try to log in here again daily because you keep me motivated. It's a lot harder to ignore the chart or sit on my booty when I read so many awesome stories on e.p.

So, seeya on Monday with my goals chart & I'll be stopping by to read your blogs, too!

Best wishes!

Tis the holiday season

Hi everybody! Have a good thanksgiving? Is there anybody that didn't overeat?? (haven't had time to read any blogs yet, so just asking.) We went south to see the in-laws for the holiday. As much as I hate traveling, I love seeing family. Best part? no leftovers in my fridge to tempt me further. Which is good, because I seem to have developed a slight health issue. I overeat or eat late, my body decides to play rough & give tough love. OUCH. Maybe I could deal with the nausea/vomitting, but the part where it hurts to breathe because my body is too busy spasming, yeah that just sucks. Oh well, one more reason to work on being healthier, right?

I'm finally moved, can't say we're settled in yet, but at least we finally finished moving & cleaning up the old house.

Hope ya'll are surviving this holiday season and having some fun! I'll check up on your blogs the first chance I get. Meantime, what do you like best about this holiday season? Figure I'll ask now, before many of us get overwhelmed by the 'gimmees' & hustle-bustle in all the stores. For me, it's the christmas lights & the wonder on my youngest son's face as he stares in awe. He's autistic & usually lives in his own world, so watching him interact even the smallest bit with his surroundings, that's pretty special. We'll be putting up our own decorations next weekend. Gives me another week to put my house in some semblance of order!

BEST WISHES!

Hello, my name is grumpy gus

I HATE moving! I love the pretty new house, don't get me wrong. I just hate the work involved in getting from here to there with all my stuff and sanity intact. I have 2 days to get boxes packed & moved. Two days before family arrives to help move furniture. TWO tiny days before they see all the dust bunnies & filth -oh my!!!! I need to clean too??? LOL

Can't say  I've been doing great on my weight loss progress; then again, can't say I'm doing horrible either. I think I've been maintaining for the past 2 weeks. I've been to the gym a couple of times & I've walked at least a mile a day, but not much more than that. Been eating too much fast food because it's convienent & I'm tired or on the go too much and need something right that moment before I collapse. Saving grace, I've kept cereal/trail mix bars handy in my purse and when I do stop for the fast food, I've avoided fries and greasy burgers, eating chicken instead. Yeah, I know, it's not the best choice, but I figure it is the best of the worst, if you know what I mean?

One good thing about the move, I've found more of my cookbooks  & have promised myself to keep them OUT of boxes and where I can easily see them in the new house. I have all these great diet/weightloss/healthy meals cookbooks and they all ended up scattered at the old house.

Okay, back to packing. Best wishes everybody!

Is NOT my friend!

The scale, that is. He is conspiring with that wicked TOM  & I refuse to be sucked in. Refuse, I say! TOM isn't even here yet but he's causing major ripples in my diet plan. Just like a cheesy horror flick, you can see the destruction long before he arrives, like ripples in a big pond.

Make it worse? TOM is visiting my poor dd right now & she's bugging for chocolate & mean ole mom won't buy it; because I know we'd be fighting over the last piece. LOL

May next week bring peace, sanity, and lower scale numbers back to my little corner of the world.

Best wishes ya'll!

Who's that knocking?

Is that you, TOM? Are you the one knocking on my door and raising havok  with my diet? Oh I  know you're not suppose to be here 'ti later this week but your little pets, the uncontrollable munchies, are already in the house & trying to eat everything in the pantry.

Now, I am trying to be patient & be good. They haven't been too specific with their demands, other than begging for food every waking hour today. So, I've tried to satisfy them with servings of cereal, nuts, & protein rather than just give them junk food or start shoveling in the food. I reckon it was either the unlimited pizza &  cinnamon rolls yesterday that set them off or they're announcing your imminent arrival.

Either way, I really hope your visit is short & sweet and that you take  your pets with you when you go. Safe journey as they say.

Best wishes everybody!

pizza buffet

Two words that shouldn't be used in the same sentence, pizza buffet. Throw in hot, yummy & gooey cinnamon rolls and you have my downfall for today. We went to sign the lease & to celebrate, we all went to Cici's. Oh man, I need to walk, walk, walk!

Ya'll having a good weekend?

Moving

Hi everybody, hope you all have a great weekend planned!

I'm going to be packing & prepping for a move. Sounds like fun, eh? Who wants to help? LOL

I hate the place I currently live. Landlords are complete jerks & refuse to fix things that are their responsibility. My a/c has been leaking all over the floors in my hallway, bathroom, & kid's bedroom. Sopping wet carpets! UGH! After getting yet another run around, I had enough & went searching for a new place. I found one! It's gorgeous & in a better neighborhood. We sign the lease  this weekend & I get to start moving at the beginning of the week.

Side note: My dh's job  requires us to move every 5 years or so. He works for a consulting firm & that's the typical average for a job/project he works on. I hate moving but his job pays well & does allow  me to stay home with the kids, so I'm not going to whine too much. Anyway, because of all the moving, we tend to rent instead of buying our home. We've rented our current home for nearly 4 years. FOUR years of near hell. *insert wry laugh here*

So, my challenge for the next few weeks is to make sure I fit in my exercise routine & don't succumb to emotional eating or eating-on-the-go. Right before the holidays! Hey, do I know how to keep things interesting or not? LOL

Have a great weekend & stay on progress! Best wishes!
