Before After

how many meals?

Hi, how many meals & snacks do you typically eat in the day? A male friend was telling me that he lost nearly 60 pounds this past  year because he only eats one meal a day -dinner- plus he has a tiny snack about an hour before bed. The snack is usually a handful of grapes or a couple slices of luncheon meat. I typically eat 2 meals plus a small snack but I've had to work my booty off to lose any weight. I've tried his one meal a day trick, but my body goes into starvation mode & I crave just about everything & anything by the end of the day! Even if I control my cravings & eat a decent portion then, I find myself stuffing extra calories in right before bedtime! BUMMER!

So what is working for you? I  know I need to change things up, but  not sure how.

Best wishes!

One meal!

Oh no, no, no... I would seriously die if I only ate one meal a day. SERIOUSLY! Haha... I eat 3 meals a day and, on most days, three snacks. The snacks aren't huge, usually around 100-200 calories at most, but I try to make them something that sticks: cheese for protein, or a banana, or some nuts. That way I'm okay until my next meal.

Good luck and hopefully you can try a new plan!

5!

Research I have done made me believe more, smaller meals is the way to go - it helps keep your metabolism fired up so you burn more calories over the day, and I like to keep my calories up to a decent level to maximise nutrient intake.

5 or 6 is optimal in my opinion, I usually have breakfast, lunch, snack at 4, dinner, and small, healthy snack after dinner

all about metabolism

I have known a few guys that were able to get away with eating one meal a day and lose weight...

but in my experience, women have an impossible time doing this because it wreaks havoc on our metabolisms-- which are already much slower.  I eat 6x's a day... smaller meals.

If I don't eat and just eat once, I will eventually binge out of hunger... and my metabolism will slow to a crawl... and I'll end up gaining weight.  bleh.

Don't risk it!  Not worth it.

One meal a day?

My husband only eats one meal a day.  He stays overweight.  I eat 3 meals a day plus one or two snacks depending on my points.  You have to keep the furnace burning and to do that you need to eat more often.  I don't know how anyone could only eat once a day.  I would die!
