Today was a travel day. The kids & I went to have lunch with some distant relatives & spent most of the day on the road. I was slightly dreading this lunch date, but it couldn't be avoided. I'm not very comfortable with the people we were seeing nor was I relishing another restaurant meal so soon. I'm positive all the eating out I was doing before helped pack on these pounds!
The restaurant is a bbq place. I'm pretty proud of myself because I ordered a small lunch portion of meat without any bread. I also skipped the bbq sauce. I did have a sweet potato with one serving of cinnamon butter. Oh I love that stuff! Remembered to order my water, too! I had a realization while eating. Usually I drown my food in sauces and butters. I love the taste of the bbq sauce, the sweetened butters, the cheesy sauces, etc... But I'm not so sure I like the taste of the food? I never did really tast it before. It was just a means of getting the saucy stuff in my mouth. Today, I actually tasted my meet & sweet potato. Hmm... It wasn't bad. I really need to work on tasting & enjoying my food, not just shoveling it in or using it as an extra to the sauce. I'm learning a lot about myself & the way I USE to eat.
Anyway, the lunch meeting went better than expected. I remembered to bring my water & get more water when we stopped. Ha! Take that evil addictive soda! My only problem now is that I'm sitting at home, dh is still away & the relatives sent 3 pounds of mixed chocolate candy bars home with the kids. I've given in a couple of times tonight to mini Twix bars before I ordered the kids to put it all away & lock the pantry. Make me think before I eat it, at least.
Hope everybody has a great weekend! Best wishes!

GO YOU!
Glad the lunch went well! And look at you figuring out about yourself on this weigh loss journey! That is so important. If we can't figure out what got us here in the first place and what we need to do to fix our problems then there is almost no point in doing this at all. Congrats! keep up the amazign work!

Tasting
I've been trying really hard to taste my food as well. The other day I had a Reeces Peanut Butter cup and made myself really taste it. And it was delicious!
Keep up the good work!

Also Guilty
It is amazing the things that we learn about ourselves and our eating habits when we take the time to dwelve into it. I thought I loved french fries but it turns out that I actually LOVE the ketchup!!!
It sounded like you REALLY dreaded that lunch and then they sent candy home with the kids. Is that a means of sabbotaging your weight loss journey??
Blessings to you for a safe and happy rest of the weekend. Chargail
I have shoveled food in and then thought afterwards, "did i even taste it?" pathetic that i did that just the other day! think i'd have learned by now.
Yay for being so good and holding true to yourself. You're on your way to success for sure!

You should be proud...
Sounds like you did very well with your eating out!! The mini candies are just a tiny issue. You're still doing good!!! RUN AWAY FROM THE TWIX!! LOL!! HAHAHA!! Seriously you're really well. From the looks of your chart, you are well on your way!!
Thanks for the visit to my blog-- and the believing in me too. It means alot. You are doing great as well.
We can do this for sure, hang in there.
One tip: at least get the candy bars totally out of your SIGHT. If you have ever seen anything from Brian Wansink on "Mindless Eating"-- if you see it, you want to eat it-- I even close my eyes when I see pictures of cookies sometimes in magazines!
I know I'm going against the flow here, but if there is something in the house that I know I just have to have, I have it. And I don't call it cheating. If this is something you love, allow yourself the treat, in moderation.
For instance, if you decide you have to have the candy bars, see how you can fit them into your diet (diet meaning the overall food you eat, not the short way of eating in order to lose weight). First, and most important, look at the nutrition facts. See what you can have for approximately 100-200 calories sepending on your calorie intake and what you are trying to achieve, and then have that with a glass of milk.
For me, it works better when I fit things into my diet and not try to completely shun them, because I just can't do that.
