Newsflash! Newsflash!! I went for an interview yesterday morning to manage the site I work on, and I got it! Hoorah, hooray, hurroo!! Can't go into specifics (it'd probably bore you witless anyway), but it's really good news ... it won't be easy, but I relish a challenge and it'll certainly be that! Nice pay rise too
Celebrated with three bottles of champagne last night between me, hubby and my parents ... (I rather like this "I only drink champagne" lark), and I'm actually feeling pretty good this morning after rambling on and giggling like a loon last night.
I've got this week off as holiday too - off to pick up a hire car this morning, then we're grabbing the tent and all our other crap and heading off to Devon armed with a load of campsite details. Blissful ... no real plans, we'll just do what we fancy, and go where we want with no pressure or bookings. CAN'T WAIT!!
There won't be much exercise going on, and I'm not taking my Fitbug - I've decided that what we really need is a week that's totally devoid of any pressures whatsoever. I'm not intending to eat masses though (too skint to eat out much!) so hopefully I will at least have stayed the same rather than gained by the time we come back next Saturday.
Hubby's getting up at 3.30am at the moment to go to work (his choice - crazy man), and the birds are keeping me from falling back to sleep. I lay there listening to the rain this morning, thundering down from the skies - and realised that it's been a really, really long time since I ran in the rain.
Might sound a bit mad to those who don't run (and probably some who do!), but I just LOVE running in the rain! It's so refreshing if it's not cold - absolutely no point wearing a hood or trying to keep your head dry, it's just fun enjoying splashing through puddles and streaming with water! I had a great time, in the torrential rain at 4.30am, and I probably looked like a total loon!
Aching a bit now too - I always forget how much harder running on tarmac is than treadmill running.
No idea quite how I've managed to sustain quite such good losses over the past few weeks - but I have a funny feeling it may have something to do with running less and swimming more ... they do say that a change is as good as a rest!
This takes me to just half a stone away from my original goal, and 13lb from the new one. Both of which I'll be over the moon about ... I have been 9st 10lb once in my adult life, but certainly not 9st 4lb!!
Well, I've decided to extend my goal to 9st 4lb ... I may not get there, but I think that I can get there, and it's still well within my healthy weight so certainly should be achievable and sensible too. Then I can say that I've lost four stone!! Wow, wouldn't that be something.
I think this week I should be able to say I'm 10st 4lb, and so will have lost three stone, and be just a handful of lbs away from having lost a quarter of my body weight. Now that's pretty shocking too! I'm getting some really nice comments from people, which is really encouraging as well. For the first time in a very long time I quite like what I see in the mirror!
I've set up a tracker for my original goal too - so I can still aim to hit 9st 10lb by mid July when I head off to Switzerland to stay with my buddy, and I can celebrate a stonking mini-goal too!
At last, the rain has stopped! It's a beautiful day here, and I'm longing to get into the great outdoors! I haven't used my GPS eTrek in a while as we've got no car to get to walks ... but I think I'll ask my ma to give me a lift somewhere.
I tell you what, I'm very glad I've been exercising all through this weight loss, or my saggy skin would be far, far worse (I'm guessing). Bingo wings**? Well, yes a bit, but I also have bingo hips, tummy, thighs ... going on all fours is a really bad idea!
Oh - just to set something straight, that isn't something I do often!! But if anyone's got any bright ideas as to how to get rid of 'all over' floppy, let me know!
My lovely hubby looked over when I was undoing my shoelaces after my run the other day (wearing just running leggings and a bra), and said "Sweet Jeeezus, DON'T do that!" - I don't think he was very impressed by my tummy bulge. I told him off and said that really wasn't something he should be saying! He's quite right though, it's still not a pretty sight! Guess it's fair though as I'm only just into a healthy weight, and still have some poundage to go.
After a sneak peek this morning, I was 10st 4lb ... so I suppose I have 8lb to lose. But - I'm actually going to carry on eating healthily, maybe have a day off counting Points at the weekends initially, still get lots of exercise and see where it gets me. I'm certainly not fixated on being 9st 10lb, that was really just a 'finger in the air' figure based on it being within a healthy weight, but I think whatever my weight settles at is going to be easiest to maintain! We'll see ...
In other news, I still don't have my bike. I called up the scheme yesterday to find out whether they'd received the paperwork - they had, and all was in order, but they were waiting for payment from my company. Typical! I rang my company, who said that the person who deals with it was off that day, but that it was all approved, and a purchase order had been raised on the 14th ... so they had no idea why it hasn't been paid. They obviously don't deal with the Finance team very often. I do, and I know they won't pay anything until they absolutely have to! I shall have to give them a swift kick in the nadgers on Monday.
** Not sure if the US knows what 'bingo wings' are - essentially it's showing off your flab when you raise your arm to get someone's attention! Not that I do that with my thighs
Well, I put some of the weight back on for my weigh in this morning ... but it's hardly surprising as I munched on popcorn, chocolate, biscuits, Chinese takeaway, cake, etc. over the last couple of days. I wasn't too bad, I did try to reign things in a bit, so all I really need to do is make sure I get some exercise and be good over the next few days. I still lost 1.5lb, so I'm on track.
I did try to have a run yesterday, but for some reason my knee's been playing up a bit - I haven't actually had a run for 10 days or so, and I wonder if that's why it's complaining. I was only able to do a broken 30 mins run yesterday before getting a stabbing pain every time I ran on my left leg. So - took a Voltarol, and I'll give it another go tomorrow. I may go swimming today, but the weather's utterly revolting so I just might make the most of the Bank Holiday and stay indoors!
I had planned to have a walk today, across the fields and up the hill I can see on the horizon from my window ... or at least the hill I can usually see. Everything is hideously wet and grey, and I think I may need to build an ark soon ...
Weird ... I had a sneaky peek at the scales this morning, and it's showing 10st 5.75lb. That's over 2lb lost since Monday, and I lost 2lb last week too - I'm certainly not complaining, I just find it hard to believe!
I wonder whether I've just given my body an almighty shake-up - I haven't been able to do lots of walking, running or swimming as I normally would this week, and my body's definitely been in 'hyperdrive' with stress. I have to say though, I'm not entirely convinced it's worth going through all that to speed up the weight loss!! However ...
..... DRUM ROLL PLEASE .....
I am now officially a 'healthy weight'!!
It seems like it's been a looooonnnggg time since I've been able to say that (well, at least a few years). I've just realised as well that when I get to 10st, I will have lost a quarter of my original body weight!! I'm thrilled to bits, and thoroughly looking forward to a long Bank Holiday weekend with a bit of exercise thrown in!
Unfortunately I still haven't received the voucher for my bike, so don't have that to play with yet, but I need to get some cycle shorts before I could go out on it anyway or I'll never be able to walk again
Off down to Gunwharf shopping outlet place today by train, we've got a couple of freebie cinema tickets that run out at the end of May, so we're hoping to be able to see either Tin Man or Indiana Jones (if it's out) if we can. It'll just be really, really nice to spend some time with my hubby as we've barely seen hide nor hair of each other for weeks - he's been trying to stay out of my way so as not to distract me from my study. Bless his thoughtful cotton socks ...
Well, the exams are over (thank heavens), and I'm knackered! I always forget how exhausting they are until after I've finished. No real idea how they went, and there's no point worrying over it as there's nothing I can do now ... so I'll just have to wait until the results come out at the end of July.
So, steak and chips, a good night's sleep and then I'll catch up on your news tomorrow, or over the weekend!
