When I said marathon bound, I meant the race, not the phone call. A friend of mine called me tonight and we talked for 3 hours and 20 minutes! Good thing she has free long distance, huh? We haven't caught up in a while, so the time flew so fast.
She was telling me this horrible story about a house she owns in Alabama. She lives in Virginia now. Anyway, she rented the house for about 5 years but it's been empty for a while now. She received this phone call from some guy saying he wanted to buy her "condemned" house. Condemned? She, of course, told him he must have the wrong house/person. He gave her the address, and it was her house!
Apparently, the neighborhood has turned into a drug area in the past few years and get this.......someone broke out all the windows, broke down the back door, ripped out all the carpet, stole the air conditioning & heating unit, knocked holes in all the walls and ripped out the copper piping, and also ripped out the copper electric wiring!!! Is that crazy??
Her house was condemned and was due for demolition, and she didn't even know it!! She got an extension on the demolition and is now fighting with her insurance company.......they sent her a check for $10,000...the house is basically gutted and they give her $10,000?!? What? Crazy, huh?
Today was a better day. Thanks for all your well wishes!
I got good news at work. I'm getting a better office and someone is going to paint it for me before I move in. It has better furniture, and we just got new carpet.
The kids did their chores and were much better behaved today.
It stormed tonight so I had to run on the treadmill instead of outside. I did 5 miles. It was a great stress reliever too!
You know I was thinking about the chafing from my shorts and I realized that at least it's not my thighs rubbing each other anymore! :) Something else that I hadn't thought about as a positive change!
I hope everyone is doing good! Skinny vibes are coming at you!!
I forgot to mention about my long run last night that I didn't wear my usual running shorts. I wore a pair of workout shorts but they weren't thin like running shorts. Well, long story short, I ended up with chafing from the seam rubbing my thigh. OUCH! It looks like I have diaper rash. Next time, my running shorts are a must!!
Today sucked!! Work was stressful and I worked late. And then I came home to the kids (we have 5) out of control. Not what I needed to come home too.
They now have a long list of rules and chores to keep them a little more occupied.
Hubby is out of town so that makes today suck even more! I think a long hot bath is in order and maybe a glass of wine too. I hope everyone else is having a better day.
Tonight was a great run!! I've been reading several books that encourage walk breaks on long runs, so I decided to give a try tonight. It really does work in making you less tired and doesn't slow your run down all that much.
I did 5 minutes of running followed by 1 minute of walking, repeating this cycle for the first 75 minutes, after that I ran the remainder without walk breaks. In total, I did 10 miles in 1 hour and 45 minutes. My LONGEST run yet!! I'm sooooo proud of myself.
I have a renewed confidence that I. AM. MARATHON. BOUND!! After my 10 miles, I know I could have kept going but didn't want to push the limit.
I'm really trying to talk hubby into doing a marathon or at least a half marathon later this year. He's not convinced that he's ready.....but I know that he can do it!
I hope everyone had a great weekend. Mine was great. I'll post more about my weekend later. I'll catch up with you guys tomorrow.
Hubby and I did a run this morning. It felt much better than yesterday's afternoon run!! We did 3.5 miles, mostly slow with some fast sprints thrown in. Thanks to my fabulous Garmin Forerunner, I know that one of our sprints was 11 mph! Yowza, that might hurt tomorrow.
All I can say about today is THANK GOD IT'S FRIDAY!! I'm in need of a weekend. It has been such a stressful time over the last few weeks. I'm going to do my best this weekend to NOT think about work and enjoy the weekend.
Hubby goes out of town all next week. That's going to suck. So even more of a reason to enjoy this weekend!!
Today was my son's Kindergarten graduation program. He was pretty funny. The kids were lined up in two rows on the stage, with him on the front row, singing songs. Well, my son (yes, only mine) had his hands in his pockets the whole time. Now, they were singing songs that required hand gestures, but not my son.......he barely sang and kept his hands in his pockets the whole time the other kids did what they were supposed to. I guess he is shy like me. It was pretty funny! I told him next time he will wear pants with NO pockets! It's hard to believe that my youngest is no longer a baby. Kids grow up so fast. My oldest will be in 11th grade next year. Yikes, I'm old!!
but not me! I did my run at about 4:30 this afternoon, and it was H-O-T, hot! It was a very difficult run because all I could think about was that I was hot and didn't bring water. Next time I will make sure to have my camelback full of nice ice cold water!! I did a slow run, it took me almost 32 minutes to do 3.1 miles. Not good, but hey, at least I didn't give up.
I'm reading a great book right now called "Women's Complete Guide to Running," by Jeff and Barbara Galloway. A good read. It's making me want to do a marathon sooner than next October. Maybe I could be ready for a marathon by April/May next year. I don't know if I would be ready to run the whole thing, but I'm positive I could finish with run/walk intervals.
I hope everyone is doing good. Have a great evening.
What the hell is wrong with my skin....I keep getting acne. I am 34 years old, what's with the freakin' acne, people??? Is this a side effect of getting to goal? Does my body love to punish me?
I just bought one of those Zeno gadgets ($150, yikes)....it does work.....but why should I be treating acne at my age?
My hubby said it's because I'm so young now! :) He loves getting brownie points.
I wash my face twice a day and don't eat junk food...so what gives? I just stopped taking birth control pills, so I'm pretty sure that might be the reason....but I need help!!
Any miracle cures that you know about? Please help me!!
Thanks for all the kind words on making goal and supportive words on my stressful work schedule. You guys always cheer me up!
This morning hubby and I ran 3.1 miles before work. It felt great, what a stress reliever. I have felt a little less stressed today because of it.
Hubby and I stayed out late last night. We went to a movie, the mall, and dinner. It was nice to get away and not think about work for a little bit. We found another mall about an hour away, mostly factory outlet stores, and I really liked it. I got several pairs of cropped pants from Banana Republic for $22 each!!! What a bargain. I also got a couple of shirts.
Did I mention that I consistently fit into size 2's yesterday at every store? I would have never in a million years believed that I could be a size 2. It's still hard to wrap my brain around that, because when I look in the mirror I don't see a size 2. I think I need to figure out why.........
This mall had a Neiman Marcus outlet store, but some of the prices were still crazy. For instance, I picked up a pair of shoes (very cute) and they were over $300, on sale from over $500.....uhm, not that cute!! Hubby saw a shirt for over $900, who spends that much money on one shirt? Whoever it is, they need to adopt me!! Needless to say, I didn't find anything reasonable enough in there to buy!!
Well, I will check back later. Everyone have a great evening!
I am so extremely busy with work that I haven't had time to blog or check on my blogging friends. Sorry!! I am stressed beyond belief and have barely had time for exercise. During my business trip last week, I was only able to exercise one day! Luckily, though, my weigh-in went okay, and I was able to maintain below 130, which is my ultimate goal....NEVER see the 130s again!
I found out today that I'm going to be traveling a lot this summer. I'm not happy about that because my son, step-daughter, and step-son are here for most of the summer and I won't get to spend much time with them.
I hope everyone is doing okay and as soon as I catch up a little with work, I promise to check in on you all. Skinny vibes to everyone!!
Honey, I'm home!! What a long week that was. I went to Atlantic City on a business trip and worked very long hours. More to follow on my trip.....
But today was my Race For The Cure 5K. It was awesome!! Soooo many people were there; it was incredible. Hubby and I ran, and my mom and daughter walked.
It was a very slow start because you had so many people starting at the same time. You really had to work your way through the slower people. By the time we got to the first mile, the herd started to thin, but it was a slow mile due to the crowd; about 10 minutes. But the last two miles we made up time. We ended up finishing at 27:41.
My mom and daughter walked it in about 45 minutes. I am very proud of my mom!
The amount of people and the energy made it such a memorable experience. I will certainly do that race again next year! If this race comes to your town, please consider doing it. It's for such a great cause (Breast Cancer) and you will have such a sense of accomplishment.
I hope everyone is doing great. I missed you guys this week. I will check in on you later.
