TOM tried to take me down this week, but you know what? Screw TOM! I kept my mind focused on my running, and I prevailed, NOT TOM!
Yesterday, hubby and I had our long run. His longest run yet. YIPPEE. 8 mile run with a 3/4-mile cool down. We did our usual 5 minute-run/1 minute-walk intervals, which have worked out great, but this time 15 seconds prior to our walk interval, we would sprint for that last 15 seconds.
In all, we did our 8 miles in 1 hour and 25 minutes, which included a very brief initial warm-up, a stretching break at around the 4-mile mark, and about a 4-minute stop at Wawa for another bottle of water. We ran along the highway, through some dirt trails, around the mall, back to the highway on the other side, and back home. (Please remember this route for the next paragraph....)
Following the run, we walked for 3/4 of a mile, then did our stretching at home.....only to then realize that hubby dropped his work cell phone somewhere along the run! HUH? You do remember the route from the paragraph above right? Highway, dirt trails, around the mall, highway.......YIKES.
So we got in the car and started to retrace our path. Part of the problem was that when we crossed the highway twice, we cut across a grassy section and as I said, we did some dirt trails.
Hubby ended up letting me out of the car at one point so I could retrace the dirt trails. I walked/jogged the dirt trails scanning for the phone. No luck. He picked me up around a mile later. He had drove around the mall area with no luck. We drove back towards the Wawa, and he dropped me off again. I started tracking the other portion of the highway while he drove on the other side again. This time, he picked me up with the phone in his hand! Sigh.
As he drove along the emergency lane with his flashers on, he continuously called his cell phone using my cell phone. And as he was driving, he heard his ringing! He got out of the car and found that someone had picked up his silver cell phone and placed it on a silver mailbox, probably so it wouldn't have gotten run over. But had he not been calling it, we would have never thought to look on mailboxes nor would we have seen it because it blended into the mailbox!!
So in all, including my walk/jog search for the phone, I covered around 12 or so miles yesterday! My legs are fine, but my left arch on my foot is a little sore.
.....why is that always the first words out of kids' mouths when something bad happens?
I just went outside to find a white rub mark down the side of my SUV.....of course, all three boys say, "It wasn't me!"
I don't know when it happened. We went to the movies today and then to the book store....both times we were parked next to someone leaving, so we were trying to get in quickly, so I don't think I would have noticed it then.
I checked the height of the rub mark and it looks too high for any of the bike handles or scooter handles to have done it.....it's a mystery! I'm going to have to give it some thought to solve this mystery.
Hubby and I went to see 1408 today, while the kids went to see Evan Almighty. 1408 was okay, but not really what I expected. The kids said Evan Almighty was funny, but the reviews weren't good at all for it.
Yesterday's picnic was great. The weather turned out perfect, sunny (but not hot), breezy, and no clouds.....which, in turn, caused some of us to get sunburned! Ouch. The kids had a good time.
The picnic was at a small lake, so there was a lot of room for the kids to run off all their energy. Each of the kids were given waterguns, so they were occupied for hours on end! There was a moon bounce, dunking tank, pie in the face, and games.
As for the adult games (volleyball, relays, et cetera) my hubby's division won, so they got a trophy! :)
A few of our kids participated in a cupcake eating contest, but they lost to this tiny girl (maybe 6 years old and 40 pounds soaking wet) who ate 6 cupcakes (with no hands) in 1 minute. Her poor tummy was all bloated but she had the biggest smile when she won a trophy!
After tons of water and Aleve yesterday, I finally started to feel better before the picnic. And since the weather wasn't too hot, I enjoyed it. I embarrased hubby! :) I told the DJ that it was his birthday, so he stopped the music, made an announcement that it was his birthday, and about 500 people all sang happy birthday to him! It was so funny!!
It's TOM and I'm miserable!! Bloated, cramping, nauseous, diarrhea....you name it. Yuck! I stupidly decided to go off birth control last month, and I've been miserable ever since. Now, I'm really paying for it. I went back to my doctor last week and got a refill on my BCPs, so I will be starting those back this week. Hopefully, next month will be much better.
Despite being miserable, hubby and I went on a 4-mile run this morning. I had to really concentrate on not throwing up, but the run itself felt good. If that makes sense! The weather was nice and cool, much better than running in the evening.
I covered 20 miles this week. Sunday will be our long run, so we will need to go early!
Today is hubby's birthday! Last night I took him out to dinner and a movie. Today his work is having a picnic, so he doesn't go into the office. We are taking the kids and they are going to have lots of activities. It should be fun. I hope I'm feeling better by the time we go. The heat isn't going to help how I'm feeling!
MOnica, not sure her blog site, emailed me a link that is awesome....thanks for sharing. I wanted to share it with you guys.
Please click here to see Dean Karnazes aim to break the world record for a 24-hour distance run on a treadmill (currently set at 153.76 miles) as well as to raise awareness for Athletes for a Cure, an organization dedicated to finding a cure for prostate cancer.
The treadmill is located on a platform attached to the Reuters building in Times Square.
There are three cameras you can watch, two that show him running and one that shows a countdown. He has about nine more hours left. Check it out!
I just returned from the dentist and NO CAVITIES! Whew....I'm so dentist phobic that I cringe the entire time I'm there dreading that they may find something that they need to work on, which may require needles.....I don't do well with needles!!
The lady that did my cleaning worked on plaque commission, I believe. She was scraping like she was getting paid by the amount of plaque she obtained! LOL. She did a great job and my teeth feel great.
On another good note, my blood pressue was 98/63. A little lower than I normally have.....but sounds good to me.
I ran 4.5 miles last night and 3.5 miles the night before, but both runs were HOT. Sunday I will be running early to avoid the heat!
Work sucks right now, so sorry I haven't checked in on you in a couple of days! I will try to get on later tonight. I can't wait until the WEEKEND.
Tomorrow is hubby's 37th birthday! Happy birthday, hubby!
Hubby and I went to the mall this weekend to spend a gift card he got from my parents as part of his Father's Day present.....which happened to be to Victoria's Secret.....funny, huh?
Anyway, hubby found this orange silky number but they only had a size XS. It looked pretty small so I told him he would have to pick something else instead. He really liked it and asked me to try it on anyway.
I didn't want to go get completely undressed, so we just stood off to one corner and I put it on over my clothes. It fit (over my clothes) so we got it. It fit great later that night too......
Hubby was later saying that I am in better shape now than 10 years ago....I corrected him and said, "No, I'm in the best shape of my life." This is true. There is no way, even at lower weights, that I would have fit an extra small anything nor could I have run 10 miles within having a massive coronary....even at 16!
I am so proud of myself. I have come so far.....not just weight wise, but I'm so much healthier and I'm fit too. I could not have done it without all my friends at EP. Thanks for changing my life!
As I've said before, I know that all my friends will get to goal, and until that happens, I will be right here with you!! You CAN do it.
longest run ever was yesterday!! Yippee. He ran with me yesterday morning and did fabulous. He wanted to do 8 miles, but he was wore out before that, so we did 7 miles and then walked 1/2 mile cool down. He did great! I was full of energy at mile 7, but I stopped with him....it was Father's Day after all. ;)
We went inside and the kids and I made him a ton of eggs, toast, and a banana for breakfast. Later, for lunch/dinner we went to Sakura Japanese Steakhouse, where they cook it in front of you, and as usual, the food was FABULOUS. We ate like pigs, but I didn't care this time! I ran in the morning, only had an energy bar and then skipped lunch (we ate around 4 so it was lunch and dinner), so I had quite a few calories owed to me! ;) Every single bite tasted so yummy!
Oh, wait I forgot to mention my weigh-in!! I'm only weighing in at Jenny Craig about every 2 weeks now since I'm technically at goal. So anyway, I was down to 127.8! I'll take it. I was 126 earlier in the week at home, but 127 works for me too. Not complaining!! My ultimate goal now is 125.....almost there.
I hope everyone is doing great. I'll be off to check on you shortly.
Tonight I went to American Eagle and found a couple of shirts on sale, very cute.....but then I tried on several pairs of pants and I'm realizing that my waist might be a size 2, but not my butt.....Typically, I wear a 2 or a 4, but tonight my BUTT was NOT fitting into a size 2. I didn't have enough time to try on the 4's..... Does American Eagle fit anyone else's butt differently? ;) Or was my butt bloated tonight or something?
Hubby is back in town! :) He got home early yesterday. I took off work a little early and we went to see Ocean's Thirteen. Can you say Brad Pitt, George Clooney, and Matt Damon.......uh, yum, yum, and yum!! But I think they need to have some shirtless scenes!!
Today we took the kids to the mall and then we all went to see Fantastic 4. It was really good. We all enjoyed it.
After my red bull run the other night, my right thigh felt a little tight in the back. I didn't run on Friday because I was scared I might make it worse. Hubby massaged it last night and I put a heating pad on it. It was feeling back to normal today. So tomorrow I plan on a longer run.
I had a Sugarfree Red Bull before my workout tonight, and wow, it did give me wings! I ran/jogged 2 miles in 19 minutes, 40 seconds; then walked half a mile; then ran/jogged 2 miles in 17 minutes, 30 seconds; then walked half a mile. I felt great.
Tonight was sooo funny. My 13-year-old son forgot to take a towel with him to take his bath. He opened the door a crack after his bath and asks his 15-year-old sister to hand him a towel, who, of course, said, "No, get it yourself." He calls me to get him a towel, and I handed him a washcloth. He was not happy, but my daughter and I found it hysterical. Then we placed a towel in the middle of the hallway floor and told him he'd have to get it. Then the WHOLE family (4 more kids, grandparents, dogs, and me) stood in the hallway real quiet to see if he would come out!! He was listening to determine if the coast was clear....but then my 11-year-old son started laughing and gave us away. So in the end, he ended up drying off with a washcloth. LOL. Good thing he's only as big as a stick! Good times, people, good times!
