I'm moving offices from Washington DC to Crystal City. I stopped by there yesterday to see my new office. I parked in one of the parking garages for 3 hours and it was $17.00!! How crazy is that? I just wanted to see my new office and it cost me $17.00.
Looks like I'm going to be taking the metro every day versus driving. I start on Friday and need to figure out the metro schedule to get there on time. Plus, to top it off, the metro is still a 10 to 15 minute walk from my office building!! Arrrggggghhhhh!!!! Well, at least it's a no-excuses way of getting in some extra exercise every day.
There aren't many perks to changing offices, but my new office does have a window and the building has a gym in the basement, which is free for me! And I noticed several eating places within the building, one of which is a full salad bar. I love salad, but I'll just have to bring my own low-cal dressing!
Since I went over there and stayed a little later yesterday, I did NOT work out. Instead, I decided to get a manicure and pedicure. I really needed it. Not only because my nails were looking rough, but I needed the time to myself to relax and unwind.
Everyone have a great day!

Free gym!
That's a great perk! You'll smell lovely when you get on the Metro in the afternoons. LOL!
You do such a great job going to the gym and working hard!! Ah, that's go great!
A free gym in the office building sounds very tempting during lunch breaks to just sneak down there for a mini workout. I think you'll like your new office with your new window and restaurants.
I'm actually going to Wash DC on August 17 - August 22. I can't wait to lace up my jogging shoes and take some early morning jogs around the Smithsonian! Our training is on C street near the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum.
Thanks for dropping by. I appreciate your support. Sounds like fun changing offices and a window, gym, salad bar. You will be at home in no time. Change is always good although it is hard to do at times.
A 10-15 minute walk from the Metro and a gym in the basement? Wow girl there will be no excuse not to exercise will there? :) I hope that you will love your new office.
I would be pissed too if I had to pay $17.00 for parking. Hmm let's see, I work in Bethesda and parking is free but we don't have a gym and there are lots of places to eat (unhealthy of course) but if you go to safeway for a salad you have to get there b4 noon or else the salad bar is picked over and at the brown bag a salad would cost about $15bucks. I'll trade you....LOL
Hi, and thanks for your comment!! I hope your new office really is to your liking and it's good that you see the positives (the walk) about getting there. And lucky you to have a gym!! Is it a good one? We have a little room in the basement here at work, with a couple of things to use, a treadmill, an elliptical etc. It's quite nice actually. But now that the weather is good, I quite prefer going outside for a walk. Good, hot days aren't all that many in Iceland :)
man, work's been killing me. i haven't had the time to go to the gym at all. :( but i'll definitely keep that advice of yours in mind next time so i don't get the shakes! it was so bad, going to work and shaking. my workmate asked me what drug i was on and wanted some of it :P tsk... not a great look!
good luck with the move and all that... bummer that you have to use the public transport though!
