Seriously need advise!!!
It's Wednesday and Friday is my weigh in....I am sooo completely confused and frustrated! I worked so incredibly hard to lose and was down 11 lbs last week....I got on the scale Monday morning and back up 5 lbs...the scale is showing that I have only lost between 5 and 6 lbs!!! I haven't changed my eating habits...If anything I have been even more strict. WHAT DO I DO!!! I was so proud of the 11 lbs that I lost and was so excited about getting on that scale at the doctors office and showing him that I had worked so hard....now I am dreading it...I know that 5 to 6 lbs is still a loss but....what could this mean...how could I have gained 5 lbs over night? It's not "TOM"...he came and went over 2 weeks ago!!! Has anyone ever had this problem?

Water?
Part of the 11 pounds may have been water weight. 11 pounds is A LOT to lose in one week, so that would be my best guess. Like you said, a 5-6 lb loss is still a huge success! Keep up the good work, it will show in the weeks to come!!

Hey there!
Punkynn! How are you? I was reading someone else's page and I saw your comment to her.....Can I just give you a word of advise? And you probably have heard this 100 times already by now....Please do not weigh yourself everyday....if you do you will drive yourself completely crazy. I was doing the same exact thing and then I stopped. YOU know why? Our bodies are so crazy, the weight fluctuates even when we sleep! I found out that even after I would drink water, I would weigh more when I had just weighted myself probably 45 minutes prior. This weight thing is so complex. It is something that will still your joy and make you want to go diving into a donut den....I guess you can tell I like donuts....Anyway...just weigh yourself once a week, that way you will be able to keep better track of your progress and remember also, even though we may not have lost pounds, it does mean we haven't lost inches!!! Take care of you !

i am in same boat
I am kind of in same boat as you...well, i am at plateau. Let's see if we can break it together...I would suggest try writing down everything you eat. You said you were being more strict? maybe you are not eating enough. Also try doing different workout out or adding more to it. We can break the platea!!!

Don't freak out!
Punkynn, it'll be okay! I had the same exact thing when I first started losing weight, I hopped on the scale one morning and I was 3 lbs higher then what I was the morning before and I was seriously pissed off.
But then Pam I Am pointed out that there was no way that I could have gained 3 lbs of fat in just a few days as I had definitely not had enough calories for it to be real fat. Chances are good that you ate something salty and between that and water retention it just looks like a huge gain.
Try these tips:
(1) Drink water like nobody's business. Just keep drinking it. The more you drink the better you'll be.
(2) Limit your salt after 4 or 5 pm. Well, watch your intake really closely regardless, but try not to eat much in the evenings. I find that when I do, the scale isn't really nice the next morning
(3) Focus on just moving. I like to walk or ride the bike. The second I start doing any sort of resistance training I stop losing weight. I just can't do resistance training and try and lose pounds at the same time.
Hope that helps!
