The painfull truth

That's it, I can't deny it any longer... I'M NOT 18 ANYMORE!!!!!!! 200lbs of muscle grace and power... Now I'm 270 lbs of outta shape broken old(er) man. I used to go to the gym five days a week, karate three nights a week... Now here I am two days after my first lift day, and I'm still in pain. My upper legs are killing me, and all I did was one set of ten squats... Without weight. I knew this wasn't gonna be easy, but I had kinda hoped for a little better than this.

Well, I guess if you start out bad, it can only get better. The question is, how to help it along? Protene is supposed to help your body build better and heal faster I believe, but what ones of the hundreds out there aren't garbage, soo expencive or just taste like dirt? As well, supliments and vitamins... Every gym rat I've seen is on something... Creatine was the big one last time I looked. Some say all you really need is a decent multi vitimin to round out what you may be missing from your diet. So what works or should I just forget it and push forward?

Just looking for the advice of people who have been here before me. Thanks.

I'm gonna hurt tomorrow

I'm already sore, but it is to be expected. I just put my lazy butt trough the first weight routine it's seen in four years. A nice, basic, full body, beginner level set. I only pushing as hard as I figured I could, I ve hurt myself before letting my ego guide me... Not fun. I've been told to lift only once a week for the first month or so, and only one set per. Gotta let my body get used to the idea that this is gonna be a regular thing. Then, I can slowly start building up from there. And to top it all off I found a pasket of "Whey Gourmet" my daughter left behind when she left. Don't know if it does anything, but it tasted pretty good and I needed a drink, so it all worked out.

Well, tune in tomorrow to hear mt whine about my broken down, sore body. Later.

Day one, still alive

So far so good. All set up on the weight watchers stuff from my wife's books. Turns out I have 42 points a day, only 27 gone so far. Actually had breakfast today, and ya, that's kinda a new thing for me. Frosen dinner for lunch with a bananna and an asian pear. Supper was a nice chilly, 8 points but worth it. An apple about five minuites ago, and 5 glasses of water.

I've decided to make a few changes to start with. First, no "real" junk food. I mean stuff like candy bars, potatoe chips fast food. I'll be looking more towards things like fruit and healthy choice snacks. Second, pop... Soda, call it what you will, I can sit down a drain a 2 leter as easy as most would drink a glass. And I don't know why, it makes me feel like crap. So, I'm done with it.

The biggest shock of all, I actually got off my butt and went out and did something today. I took my dog out for about an hour long walk. When we got home I put her inside and got out my bow... No need for her to be tempted to fetch. I shot for about an other hour. Felt great to pick my bow back up, haden't shot in months... Couldn't find my wrist guard though, so I have a nice bruse forming on my arm. Ok, so other than that, it was great. The odd thing is, now that I've done something I feel like I should go do more. I have all this energy that I don't usually have, I blame it on the fresh air.

Well so far so good, day two here I come.

Well, here we go.

Well, it's time to get started. I'm 31, I have mildly high blood pressure, a short temper, a chest pain issue that just won't go away, and I just generally feel bad all the time. The medical diagnoses... Suprise suprise, get off your lazy ass and loose some weight. Really, I thought 270 wasn't that much over the line for asomeone my size. But I have found out it's really by a person by person basis... Some people can be 40 0r 50 pounds over weight and not really feel much of a downfall from it. Others can be as little as 10 pounds heavy and feel like crap. Soods like I'm getting the short end on this one. Not much choice I guess, I'm tired as hell of feeling like this.

So, I'm 270 lbs. I'm told 2 lbs a week is a healthy loss. Given that I should loose more than that per week starting out, I should be able to balance out the crap weeks. and assume 5 months to loose the 40lbs I feel I'm over.

Now, the local pool has a 2 hour evening swim 2 nights a week. I have just been given a pile of weight and a bench to use. As well, I have stumbled across a broken eliptical machine (Now fixed, took all of 10 min to do). TO top it all off, diet wise my wife is on weight watchers leaving me access to all the books... I start that tomorrow as well.

So. The last of my excuses have flown out the window. Time to get this show on the road.

P.S. To anyone bothering to read this, thanks, and I'm sorry for my spelling and grammer.
