Before After

Mountain Get Outta My Way!

Thursday is the day I designated to only drink water and lots of it.  So it isn't even noon yet and I've drank six 8 oz glasses of water.  I guess I should add that I never have been a water drinker.  I'd drink one or maybe two glasses a day.  My thing when trying to lose weight is Crystal Light.  I love it!  I'm hoping that someone that reads this will email me and tell me Crystal Light is equivalent to water... please???

Work has been keeping me really busy and I haven't had much time to myself to write in my blog.  The weekend and the past couple of days have been good.  I've been eating the right foods but have not been paying much attention to portion size. <sigh>  That's one of the reasons I need the extra motivation by taking Phentermine because  I won't feel hungry and will pay attention to portion size.  You all gotta understand I was bought up by a mother who came from the South and she bought all those down South homecookin' recipes with her when we moved to Maryland. There was no such thing as portion size.  In fact, mom would be offended if you didn't ask for seconds.  Fortunately I don't like to cook so I don't try out those recipes until Christmas or Thanksgiving.  I would fill up on foods like french fries, pizza and fast food.

Thank you to everyone that has emailed me and thank you to all that are reading this.

Crystal Light

Hi J,

I think that is great that you have already consumed that much water and the day isn't nearly over yet. Crystal Light is about 5 calories per serving so that isn't bad at all...Go ahead drink up, but do make sure you keep drinking your plain water as well. Have you consider any of the prepacked frozen dinners (smart ones, healthy choice, lean cuisine, etc) to help out a bit with the portion control. I just ate some slow roasted turkey breast with mashed potatoes and gravy and it was really good, this was a smart ones frozen dinner  with 210 calories and 7grams of fat. I also know where you are coming from when you talk about your mother's cooking because my parents where the same way and we were require to "clean" our plates before leaving the dinner table. Until you get back to the doctor's office try eating more fresh fruit and veggies and if you're eating salad make small changes like eliminating the cheese and go for the fat free dressing. This is what I have started doing, I just figured if I make small changes slowly chances are I will stick with it and so far so good I have even managed to exchange the real bacon bits for imitation bacon bits which aren't half bad at about 30 calories per serving. So I believe in you and I know you can do it... Sorry didn't mean to write a book :)

hey girl

the trainer at the gym told me that crystal light should be used to replace soda, juice etc. but not to count your crystal light as water.   you will get better with water, it takes time like everything else.   phentermine does definitly help with portion control.  but so does buying pre packaged foods and eating small meals througout the day.  i love the 100 calorie packs, jello, yogurt,  because once you eat them they are gone. it does not require any self control. i was having some major trail mix issues a couple of weeks ago, i was eating right out of package.  i know that i cannot do that.  i have to measure out a serving a put the package up.  it takes time to retrain your brain.  i guess that is all a part of the weght loss process. keep at it, it will get better.  congrats on making healthy choices this week, you are off to a great start!

Yes to Crystal Light....

J~ any non caffeine drink that has 0 or near zero calories is indeed as good as water and replaces your water need. Sorry Kerry, we chose to disagree. I have been told this many times over in my wt. loss struggles and most recently my JC counselor agrees with me... so drink on and be well.  Be careful however with fasting too much. Your body will think it is being starved and your metabolism will shut down big time. Seriously dear, it is safer to lose wt. slow and steady. Lower consistent calories will do the trick. I can't always do it, but I promise you it works.

Water water everywhere

Do you mean you drink water and you don't drink anything else or you drink water and don't eat or drink anything else?  Ignore the fasting articles if you just meant it is your day to drink water and not drink sodas, teas, or anything else.  Unless of course you just find them interesting!  If you are fasting, I would recommend you read this article.  It is also addressed in this SparkPeople article

You are doing awesome!  That mountain better lookout!

crystal light

I have been told many times that crystal light is just fine to get your water in. I don't think it is a problem at all. I do hope you are eating too though.

Excuses....

My dear Jonquility,

I was raised by my grandmother and yes, she too was from Virginia and Sweet Potato pie was the norm. We made all the delicious wonderful southern foods and I ate them. I do know how hard it is not to have a clue about portions, but I just don't want either of us to fool ourselves with any excuse that we can't do it, because of who we are or where we come from. Seems to me part of this life lesson is to re-Learn HOW TO EAT and that is as much about portion control as it is about choices. Iam right now eating what any normal person would think is a portion for a child, but just think if we opted for the surgical route, we would not be able to eat but something the size of an egg or we would get sick. This way we can eat almost anything in a really reasonable ( 4 ounces or the size of our palm)portion without the pain or expense.

Hope your okay today after drinking enough to drown yesterday! lol and love,

Molly

Good morning!

I am SO glad to hear you aren't fasting!

At any rate ~ I saw this SparkPeople article and thought you might find it of interest and help for your weekends with hubby.
