Yesterday and today were good days (so far) for eating right. Thank goodness. But I really do want to get back to the gym. The best health and fitness club for me is Lifebridge which has a built in pool. Because of my arthritis, the pool is the BEST exercise for me and I love being in there. They also assign you a personal trainer which is fantastic! I went there over a year ago with my husband but had to quit when the year was up because of the price. <sigh> I mentioned to my husband today that I want to go back. He said I could if I could get the money for it. The price for the two of us is... $152.00 per month which may not seem like much to some but with the little money we have coming in, it's a way too much. So, I'm getting my little brain to thinking on how to earn the money. Believe it or not, I actually LOVE going to the gym. This particular one is not full of hotties, rather people who really do need to get fit plus it is run by a hospital. Anyhow, I will be heartbroken if I cannot fix this problem so we can go. Wish me luck.

going to the gym...
J~~ I think that is alot of money for most people! I was wondering does your area have a hospital that promotes well-ness in the area. Maryland is pretty progressive and we have one in our area with a pool and aquatic fitness opportunities.... I couldn't get out to it however and we bought a one time investment of a hot-tub where you can regulate the temperature ( certainly not hot) to use as a pool and I exercise in there at least 3 X a week and it is really helping. Just take it slow and easy... we are not in a race and this is a lifetime journey - eventually it won't even feel like a diet, I promise! How are you planning to lose your wt. Calorie counting, weight watchers? Jenny Craig or a combination of all three ( like me, lol).. I weight in at JC because it is a PRIVATE weighin and I love the counselor but I have gone to 1200 calories a day of picking my own food ( good choices) and I eat approx. 300 cal. a mean with 300 left for snacks. That it - I don't feel deprived and I get to eat what I like.
Good luck and keep in touch! Iam here almost daily. Thanks for you kind words....we are here for you!
Do you get ExerciseTV on demand? A lto of peopel here use that. I also second Molly's hospital sponsered gym. Also, here there are community eductaion programs where a traimer will run a class and you will have access to the gym all for a reasonable price. I want to do water aerobics, eventually, but right now I have sworn off setting any more goals. :) AND I have a 2yo who I obviously can't take with me.
I think that's a bunch of money around anyone's house, nearly 2k per year!
as far as the pool exercises go...what exactly are you looking for? I was taking water aerobic classes here (while recuperating from back surgery) that are conducted through our local parks and rec's department. Classes are only $3.50 each and available 3 times per day (shallow and deep water aerobics)...they close off a couple of free swim lanes for an hour and have pretty decent instructors...but everyone has the ability to work at their own pace...if that's not your thing, there is also free lap swim that is available for only $2.50 per hour...I used a kickboard to assist here..our pool also has a weight room that is available to use with just the price of the pool fees...
might check out your local parks and recs for a cheaper alternative.
