Before After

First Lap Band Fill

Today I got my first fill.  No problem.  No pain at all.  Thought it would at least feel like a shot, but it didn't at all.  No pinch or anything.

I got 1.5cc's.  She said in a few weeks that it might not feel like I got anything.  She said it's typical that the first fill can sometimes "disappear."  What does that mean?  I'm not sure where it goes to.

Anyway, I'm glad to have it!  I can't wait for the real weight loss to really begin now.  One step at a time I suppose.  But this is definitely the next step.

We will see what the scale says next week!

Having a rough day

Today is a hard day, but for once I am not using food as a tool to cope.  I really don't think of food as much as I used to.  The glamour has just been taken out of it since I've gotten my lap band.

I don't even want for high calorie desserts anymore.  I'm happy with that aspect of my changes.  It makes room for better things in life.

A dozen down and counting

OK, a dozen pounds down. I'm walking at least 4 times a week for 45 minutes.  I am considerably reducing my volume.  I'm feeling great and I can't wait for the next 12.

I am getting really close to wearing some clothes in the next size down.  I'm anxious for them to fit without being tight across the hiney.

If I can get through the next 6-8 pounds, I will have about 8 suits to wear to work in the next size down.  And another 5-6 pair of dress slacks.

As soon as I get through this part, I am giving these suits to a secretary in our office who really could use them and can't afford nice clothing.  They are nearly new and all from Talbots, so there is a ton of wear left in them.  She will be thrilled.

I will be thrilled to say goodbye to a whole set of clothes in a size I never wanted to be in the first place.  And I'll never be that size again!  Fabulous!

Using my Weight Watchers with my Lap Band

I'm trying to make smarter choices with my Lap Band.  I get less food.  I need more protein and nutrients in a smaller package of food on the plate.  Weight watchers is helping.  I used to use Points some time ago.  It teaches you the value of food.  Fast food, fatty foods, and sugary foods have a high point value.  Healthy choices have lower points.  I am counting points in everything I eat and getting more protein and vegetables.  This should also help the process go faster and healthier.

In the Swing of Things Again

It's been exactly two weeks.  I feel fabulous.  Like my old self again, but losing weight.   I eat less.  The scale goes down.  I am anxious to get the fill for the band to tighten it up.   I know all of the swelling has gone down.  I dont' have the restriction I had before and that full feeling isn't so strong.   I'm ready for the next phase.

It is going to be three more weeks until I go for a follow up and get a fill scheduled.  I am anxious.

Lap Band Healing

A full week of liquids alone has passed by.  Today starts soft foods, like yogurt, pudding, and soup.

I tried soup last night and never felt so uncomfortable for so many hours.  I felt bloated.  Like there was a rock right under the bottom of my rib cage.  I hope this feeling is temporary and not a permanent thing after eating.

Lap Band At Last

Two days ago, I went for Lap Band surgery.  I am very sore right now, but very excited too!  Anyone else out  there have a band?

Nothing Gained, Nothing Lost

I gingerly stepped on the scale this morning, wondering if the super bowl eating affected my diet.  Voila!!!  Exactly the same.  What a relief!

After perfect dieting from Jan. 1, I did not have any back sliding!  That means I have to be extra good the rest of the week to have a loss recorded.  We shall see how it goes.

Super Bowl Sunday

I didn't do so well Super Bowl Sunday.  The two items that got me were the nacho chips and the king cake.  I guess on Weight Watchers, I don't use my optional points, but if I did I would still be in my weekly allowance.  I am disappointed in using optional points though.  I try to keep it to 24 a day and that's it.  Today is going well though.

Sunday was my only slip up since January 1. So I can't be too upset.

Another one bites the dust

On the scale this morning and I'm down one more.  Excellent.

It is the weekend and time to exercise, 3 days walking.  I have to start.  So far I haven't exercised once this year.

I have a conference at the end of the month.  I hope I can get off 10 more pounds by the day of the conference.  I have some business suits that I could wear if I just lost those 10 this month.

Of course, I have almost every size in the closet, but the suits in the smaller size would be a nice change from the couple "fat" ones I'm currently wearing.

We will see how it goes.
