Out of touch for awhile
Gosh it has been awhile since I have been here! Work and class have been keeping me busy of late. Still sticking with the NS plan and am down 25# so far!! I am amazed how much better I feel since I have shed a few pounds. I have tons more energy, can walk fast and far without being out of breath and don't have puffy ankles anymore. I also started working out at Curves. I really look forward to the time there and enjoy the conversation with the other women there. I would highly recommend Curves to anyone who is thinking about exercising again. Looking forward to the holiday this week and a short work week! Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Sorry so slowwith this entry
Time to catch up. I have had a couple of very busy weeks at work. Finalizing the 2007 budgets for all of my departments and out 3 days last week for a conference. NS is working great for me. I'm down 18# and feel great. Planning to start going to Curves next week for exercise. Happy Halloween everyone! Thanks to those of you who have left me comments and checked in -much appreciated! I will try to keep things a bit more current!

Blah day!
Today I did what I said I would not do - weigh myself before my "official" weigh-in day. Of course, my weight has not changed at all. I think I might be having my TOM - of course I really can't tell as I had a partial hysterectomy - I just have to go off of how I feel. Anyway, lesson learned - don't weigh daily unless you want to be disappointed!

Yipee!
It was just last Saturday when I began my NS program. Today was official weigh in day and amazingly I am down a total of 11 pounds. I have been pretty amazed at my weight loss so far. I know that a lot of it is water weight, but it is 11 pounds nonetheless! I haven't had any strong cravings or desires to eat something that I shouldn't - guess that is the power of eating right. DH and I are going out for dinner tonite -I plan to have a small steak, salad, and maybe a half of a baked potato -that shouldn't cause me too much of a problem. I'm excited to move on to the next 10 pounds. I know that my weight loss will probably slow down this week - but, week 1 certainly has motivated me and proven that I can do it.

A shopping day and didn't blow the diet!
Well, I have managed to continue on NS very successfully at work. Thought that there might be some challenges due to meeting schedules, time, etc- but I am proud to say no problems. Yesterday, I took a day off of work and went toflea market in Indiana with my mom, sister, 2 nieces, and greaat nephew. While I didn't have my NS foods with me, I was able to keep my eating well under control with no damage done!

Weight error on blog and NS Day 2
Well, Day 2 of NS has gone well and I'm feeling like this is something I CAN do! Challenge #1 tomorrow as I return to work. My job has definitely helped me put on some of this extra weight. When I was a staff RN in the ICCU I was much more active. Now with my job in nursing administration, I sit a good deal of the time. Hopefully, I will be able to avoid all of the usual work food temptations. I also had made an error on my weight entry on this blog. Originally, I entered a weight that was a guess. Did I ever receive the shock of my life when I stepped on the scales to officially start yesterday! I am at the all-time fattest of my life! Just makes me more determined to do this!!

Official NS program start
Well, I have finally begun my Nutrisystem program today. So far, the food has tasted great and it seems really simple. I am vowing to not weigh myself again until next Saturday. I am hoping that I will see evidence of my first week then. I originally said that I would post daily to log my progress, but I think I will definitely post on "weigh-in" day, and perhaps occassionally in between. I don't want to bore anyone with play by play info on my weight loss journey!

A little about me....
Two posts one day! I thought I would tell everyone a little about me. I am a happily married (28 years in November), 47 year old. No children, but am the happy "mom" to 4 furkids including 2 gorgeous Siamese (Thai Li and Jade), 1 large and very spoiled Maine Coon giant named Rudy, and a kind, gentle black Labrador appropriately named Rowdy despite his age of 14. I have been a Registered Nurse for 26 years and have spent my work life in the hospital setting in critical care and now in Nursing administration as a Director of Nursing (challenging and stressful). I am also a lifelong student and am working on my second Master's degree in healthcare administration. I love to travel with my husband (we enjoy time touring national parks and watching wildflife), reading , and listening to music. I also like to make soap in when I have some spare time.

And so it begins...
So...here is the first entry in my first attempt at a blog. I begin this as a way to document my life journey and my progress on creating a thinner, happier, healthier me. I just signed up to begin the Nutrisystem weight loss program. I have read the great successes of others and am very hopeful that it will prove the same for me. I have tried many other programs with successes that I could not sustain as the eating patterns were unrealistic. So, here goes. I will try to update daily to keep myself motivated.
