Before After

Vacation

Taking two vacation days for today and tomorrow.

I will be touring long term care facilities in our area for my MIL.  She has been in failing health for a long time and it is only a matter of time before the health care workers in her home can care for her.  She will need skill nursing. She ilives an hour and a half away from us and my Dh is her only relative.

Had a great work out a the gym yesterday.  today I will take the dogs for a long hike.  Other than that I will do some spring cleaning.

Hi :)

I don't know if you have kids or not - but it's hard being in the "sandwich" generation - still raising your kids, and then having to care for your parents and parents in law.... sending good thoughts your way and hoping you find the perfect place for her, where you feel good about it, and it feels safe and comfortable.  Hang in there, I just went through this with my mom - and it's so hard.  She finally has ended up going to live with my sis; not thrilled about it, but she's thriving, and it's really been good for her.

Great job on the gym, and walking your dogs - the workouts will really help calm any stressed nerves during this time, and I know it can be very challenging when you're trying to make important decisions for a loved one.l

By the way...... I still don't know what a "DH" is??? I'm guessing something "husband"... but not sure!

You're doing great - hang in there and know that you're loved!

MIL

mine is in good health, just a little frail and forgetful......even though it will take some getting used to on all of our parts......I think it will be so much better for for her up here......it's a 3 hour drive one way for us to get to her....and most of the time she is bored and lonely....sitting around talking to her dog......we want her to get active with the seniors center.....and she thinks we want to put her in a home........so we have a few challenges .....but it will be better for her in the long run.

Thinking of You

My thoughts are with you as you try to find the best place for your MIL.  My husband and his brothers are in the same position with their father.  It's hard.

I lost my parents when they were so young.  Mother died at 51 of ovarian cancer and Daddy 12 years later at 63 of a heart attack.

Always, Donna

Hope your days off are enjoyable and restful!

Hi, Naomilynn, Sorry to hear about your MIL. Sounds like you're getting a lot done on your days off. My place really needs some spring cleaning. I'm hoping a little warmer weather might inspire me. It's been so raw, windy and rainy here.  Enjoy your days off! Cheers and thank you for your comments!

Same Boat

My mom is a stubborn little ol' lady.  She lives alone in the home my dad and her built, so she'll never leave it.  I want her to come live with us, or a senior apartment so she's not staring at the same walls all day long with no human interaction. She's 82 and can manage on her own, but the grandsons go over to mow the lawn and shovel the snow.

So I understand what you're going through.  Enjoy the walk with the dogs and have fun spring cleaning...if that can be fun!
