New Year

I am so grateful that I have lived to see 2008 here. I have gained about 5 lbs during the holidays and I'm not happy about it. I have really fallen off the wagon and I can't blame anyone but myself. I love food but if I continue to eat like I was then it can harm me. So many of us decide that the new year is the year to start fresh. Some are able to maintain that goal.....others are not. I don't want to be that person that continues to talk and put no action into it. So from this point on, I am no longer going to make those excuses for myself. The gym will be open tomorrow and I will be going at least 3-4 times a week. I have to do this for my health. I want to have children and a bright future and I don't want my weight to be one of the things slowing me down.

Currently, I'm at 199 lbs. My goal is to lose between 55-60 lbs. I was watching The Biggest Loser Marathon and was so inspired. My boyfriend has also been losing weight and has been encouraging me so much and now this is the beginning of my new beginning!!!!!

10lb Start!

I am very excited right now. I have started (for what seems like the 500th time) to exercise and eat healthier to lose weight. I started once again on Monday and by Friday of this week, I lost a total of 10lbs so far! I worked out everyday between 30-45 min a day for 4 days, I ate plenty of fruits and veggies, and I did not eat late. I am hoping that this time (since I saw some results) that I'll continue my weight loss journey!

I love the gym!!!

I can't believe that it's been a month since I have decided to make the real committment of losing weight. It's been a hard battle because there are so many temptations out there but when you have your mind truly set on it then it can work.

So far I lost about 6 lbs but I know for sure that I lost inches as well. I don't know how much I lost but my clothes are starting to fit better already. My eating habits have improved greatly. I am eating more fruits, nuts, and grains.

If anyone is like me then going to the gym is not one of the most favorite things about losing weight and being healthy. Since I work so many hours during the day, it actually feels good to be able to go to the gym and get the stress and tension out of me. When I come home from the gym, I feel relief. My muscles are no longer tense and the energy that I get is more than what I used to have.

Healthwise, I also see benefits. My blood pressure is normal, I'm not as tired during the day, my feet don't swell up anymore, and my face is clearer. Things are finally looking up and I can't wait to continue in this weight loss battle!

Starting Over

It's been a very long time since I have been on here and I have been working 2 jobs for the most part of this year and between working and losing a family member this year. From losing friends and gaining self it can keep you occupied. I would like to say that since the beginning of this year that I lost weight. Unfortunately, I have gained some of the weight I lost back but thank goodness I haven't gained anymore than that.

You know it's bad when you have to wait to go to a doctor for them to tell you to get it together. I have heard it from family and friends but it's worse coming from a doctor. At the age of 25 due to stress my blood pressure is high and I have so much weight to lose. And I am starting today and I am serious this time because I want to have children in a few years and what good will I be for them if I'm not healthy?

So I have made a pact with myself to start today and I so far have ate oatmeal for breakfast with a glass of water and I am going to have a salad for lunch and I'm not sure what I'm going to have for dinner yet but I am going to cooperate more fruits and veggies and especially exercise in my diet. I am joining a gym this Friday and I'm officially ready to change my life for the better!!!!!

Keeping things together

Today it's raining pretty hard so I felt like in order for me to continue to work on my dream of losing weight, that I need to talk about it a little bit. So today I don't think I did too bad. For breakfast I had some grits and a couple of slices of bacon (I am starting to get tired of the oatmeal for right now lol); for lunch, I had a baked pork chop and organic mac and cheese (which wasn't so bad as far a as the taste) and for dinner, I ate a grilled chicken sandwich (unfortunately I got the combo because I was so hungry but I don't regret eating it lol). For snacks earlier, I had some granola munchies and a mini bag of fat free popcorn. Hopefully I'll find some stength to do some exercising tonight but right now I just want to go to sleep. But I did a lot of walking today at work so I think I'm ok......

I don't know when I'll weigh myself again but this weekend I am going to buy plenty of fruits and vegetables and this Fri, my co-workers and  I are planning to go to lunch together so I am giving myself a challenge to see how well I'll do without followng temptation. My main thing is to not eat too much but my most important thing that I want to do is eat the right foods...I guess we'll see and I'll get back to you all and tell you how my weekend went.........

Stay healthy, stay strong!!!!!

Once again.......

Happy New Year to everyone!!!

As you all know, we at the beginning of a new year, make the resolution to lose weight. Most times we don't follow through, due to various reasons. I am personally tired of talking about it and I want to start being about it.

During the holidays, I ate like I was never going to eat again! LOL! Now it's something that I don't regret because I ate well but when I looked on the scale early on New Year's Day, I knew that I needed to get myself together. My sister is getting married in March and I need to lose something. So I made a decision to get it together.

I have made the hard decision to not eat any fried foods (I am  a fiend for some Popeye's chicken); to not eat any junk food; to drink more water; and cut back on my juice and fruit punch intake. It's been hard but just this Mon, I weighed 200 and now I'm down to 197. I also stop eating between 7:00-8:00 p.m. It's been hard but I try to think of things that will occupy my time so I won't be thinking about food as much. I hope that this will be a true start to my new healthy lifestyle....

It's time to get it together

Yesterday I looked at myself in the mirror and was officially tired of what I saw. I was wondering why in the world did I let myself go in this way and while I had these thoughts in my mind,  I joined a weight loss clinic to help me obtain my weight loss goals. I was officially weighed (I went from 194 lbs to 205 lbs). I could have cried at that moment. Then today I hear about one of my favorite singers Gerald Levert dying today in his home from a heart attack. After this sad news it made me realize that it's time to get it together. I don't want to die young because I didn't want to get myself healthy. I'm tired of being in this body that I know is not meant for me to be in. It's time to make a change and this change will be a permanent part of my life.......

It's been awhile

It's been sometime since I have updated my blog. I would love to say that I have been doing well. In some aspects of my life, I am. I recently started a new job that I'm really excited about but my work schedule is something that I have to get used to. Everything else in my life has been going well except for.........

My weight....I haven't weighed my since in almost 2 weeks and honestly, I'm afraid to because I know that I have probably gained what I lost and then some. I don't have any excuse as to why I haven't been keeping up with my exercises so I'm not going to blame anyone or situation. I know that I need to get it together for my health because my eating habits have been poor so with that said I will be returning to the gym on Tues. I hope that everyone out there is doing the best that they can and keep it moving........I'll be along shortly.......

Lost 2 pounds!!!

I was very hesitant at first to check my weight, mainly due to water weight gain that I received. However, I decided to check anyway and I lost 2 lbs! My total weight loss so far is around 17 lbs. I kept off 10 before starting the blog and the 7 came after. I was very excited because I haven't been feeling really well but for the most part, I have continued to eat well and eat my last meal at a decent hour. I have worked out and remain my positive attitude! I'm so excited because although 2 lbs may not be much it's a start. I kind of slipped for a second and now I'm back in the game so those who are against me better watch out! LOL!

On the bumpy road to success

It seems like when I have time off from work that I perform better as far as eating right and exercising. I'm hoping that this will continue when I start my new job next week. It seems like when I'm working (especially at a stressful company), I don't eat or exercise as well as I should so I am hoping that a change in my environment will really make a difference. I had a day off from going to the gym but I had to run errands today so I had a lot of time to walk. For breakfast I had grits and bacon, for lunch I had a small portion of DiGorno's Harvest Wheat Pepperoni pizza and for dinner I had a small bowl of Special K cereal. In addition, for snacks I had oranges and walnuts and plenty of water. I will try to do my Walk Away the Pounds DVD which is great when you don't feel like going to the gym and you want to be in the comfort of your own home. Happy Exercising!
