No April Fool Here
Last week was simply awful. I didn't start out on the right foot, and I ended up on a worse one. The good news is that I ended up 0.2 below where I started. Still not where I want to be, but considering the idiot moves I made all week, it's more than acceptable. I've got to do better this week. Not sure how I plan to do that considering I have hardly any food in the house and nothing prepared. No, I take that back, there are 2 salmon cakes and some shrimp scampi, and I have a bag or two of broccoli and/or cauliflower in the freezer.
I decided to buy a lawn mower instead of paying someone else to do the work this year. Everyone I called wanted $20-30 a week...including the kid across the street who I asked!! I found a Black & Decker electric mower online at Lowe's for $230 (~$250 with tax). Yes, electric. I don't want to deal with gas cans and all that stuff with the girls around; a power cord I can handle. Daddy made the recommendation last fall, so I went for it. Ordered it on the website and I'll pick it up after work tomorrow. This model has pretty good reviews, so it should hold up for at least a couple of seasons. Hopefully, the weather will cooperate so I can put my new machine through the paces. It's supposed to be nice through Wednesday evening...we'll see how well that forecast holds up! I think I'm about the only one on the block who hasn't done any yard work yet. Of course, I'm also the only one without either a man or a teen in the house. The up side is that I'm guaranteed a good work out at least once a week. I suppose the next thing I'll need is a weed whacker.
Guess I should get away from the computer and think about cooking something to get me through breakfast for the week. I'm thinking sausage, egg, and spinach "muffins" will do the trick...assuming I can find the spinach!
Edited to add...
I think I'm ready for tomorrow. Breakfast is scrambled eggs with spinach and onions. Lunch is a salmon cake w/ ff sour cream, steamed broccoli & cauliflower. I'll take pistachios for my afternoon snack, and I found the new cup I bought several weeks ago for my water. It's washed and ready to go. I even wrote the list of what I need and stuck it on the fridge where I can't miss it. As long as I stick to the plan, everything will be okay. Dinner will be the only potential problem, but I have time to figure something out between now and then. I may put together a taco bake...that will also give me lots of leftovers for lunches.
