Im gaining...
and freaking out! I am up to 190. I was 185 when we got back from our honeymoon. I am sure that had to do with drinking. I have been eating well for the most part through my first trimester. I am so scared of gaining yet I want to be able to not worry about it and have a healthy baby! Swimkatt did it, I can do it! Love ya T

No need to gain a lot of weight
I walked one to two miles per day most of my pregnancy, ate a sensible diet, and gained 19 pounds, 9 pounds of which was my daughter. I had lost 25 - 30 pounds by time I went back for my 6-week checkup, and I was about 190ish when I got pregnant.
there is no reason to gain 35 - 50 pounds like so many women do.

Weight Gain
First of all congratulations!!!
If you're of a healthy weight you should expect to gain around 30lbs during your whole pregnancy. The biggest thing to remember is your baby will be around 8lbs for instance, the amniotic fluid 2lbs, your uterus around another 2lbs and extra blood circulating through your system will be around another 3lbs. So of that 30 gained, 15lbs is related to your baby and not weight you have put on,so when you give birth a large proportion of that 15lbs will be lost. It's also vital to remember your baby requires a healthy deposition of fat for survival and once your baby is born a huge portion of the vital body fat gained is utilized for milk production. Your energy requirements also increase by 500cal from your pregnancy energy requirements, meaning you will be burning more calories and shedding extra weight providing you keep you food intake constant. So providing you eat a healthy diet and exercise regularly (decreasing strenuousness as time goes on) you will be able to lose the extra gained during your pregnancy and have a healthy beautiful baby at the end of it. Remember this is what your body was designed to do and providing you don't over indulge all the time there is no reason why should need to panic about every pound put on. It's all for the health of your child and that comes first and foremost.
