Wow it's been five days

So lets see what happened in the past five days. Well the two days after my last entry I went to bed way too late and couldn't get up in the morning so I took a rest.

The third day I went to bed too late again and couldn't wake up in the morning, but knowing that I needed to do something and started out at 11. Stupid, stupid, stupid..it was in the Australian summer sun and it was about 28 celcius out. So it was a slow run and my heart rate was past 190 the whole time. My max is 200 but I usually keep it at 180-185.

I felt like shit after that which motivated me to get up and do it in the morning, which I did. My usual 4k, good pace. My moniter stopped working through so I don't know what my heart was doing.

Finally we get to today. I slept in on purpose because I've been bugged to try the treadmill. I hate treadmills because I'm a heavy stepper and it's just a pain because I'm not controlling my own pace. I tried it though and it was solid so I didn't feel as if I was breaking the thing..but it was a pain because there was nothing on tv, I couldn't hear my DVD i was playing on my computer and my iPod was out of batteries. Motivation=0. I did about 10 minutes and got sick of the stupid thing. I set it to a weightloss program and it was pathetic, it was all walking and not normal walking...like 90 year old with a heart condition walking. So I spurned the stupid treadmill and quit.

My sister has swimming lessons tonight and apparently the outdoor pool is a fantastic complex so I'm going to go swimming with the fam later. I'm not a very strong swimmer though (lack of practice, lack of a flattering bathing suit) so we'll see how I do with these laps. Still haven't lost a bleeding pound so whatever. Maybe I'm eating more, the body fat is going away though and I feel better. Up for a run tommorow morning for sure.

January 25th

Last couple of days has been good in terms of exercise. Yesterday I went on a 10k hike, trying to keep up with bikes. I didn't bike because I hate, hate biking. That was good, really hot though was sweating like never before. Damn you Australian sun! Took some nice pictures of the journey and of the ruins at the end. Today I went on my regular 4k. I'm trying hard to keep my legs up and active, definatly makes a difference. My current living situation doesn't allow me a whole lot of time for me to just sit by myself and listen to music so it was nice to turn on the iPod today and listen to music instead of my regular design podcast. Sat after my run and did a slow stretch and listened to music and contemplated life. I'm feeling good about the direction I am going in even if I'm not working at the moment. I am only twenty years old so who the hell cares if I've got some extended time off.

There's a lot of pressure on me to further my career (that I'm putting on myself) but I'm enjoying life.

I know that doesn't have a lot to do with "extra pounds" but the realisation came out of a workout.

I've been feeling better lately. I stand up straighter when I'm getting regular exercise. Even if I am not losing weight, I feel better and I feel thinner and I feel better about myself.

Jan Twenty Third, Aussi Time

Today I went out for about a 30 minute run and finally nailed my 1/1 minute run/walk intervals. I went harder than normal on the hills and I really sweated it out. Was adequatly pooped afterwards so I didn't add any extra time.

Did two sets of 5 pushups (I know I'm pathetic) and did three sets of 50 bicycle sit ups. My abs hurt like awesome.

Did a few curls with Dad's weights, unfortunatly his lowest set is 1.5 Kilos which is a bit heavy for me so I didn't go very hard.

Also did about 20 minutes on the trampoline.

Weighed myself, gained a wee bit of weight. Not concerned at all because that's only a day's difference and being a woman and on my period my weight's all messed up.

I had about a cup of this energy cereal stuff that tastes like coco puffs (truly awesome because it's healthy too!) with probably a cup and a half of milk (need that calcium). Also had two pieces of whole wheat toast with butter and blackberry jam.

Will not eat until lunch!

So welcome to my wee little weight loss slash fitness journal...thing. I joined because some friends from a message board we're on it and a little encouragement never hurt anyone.

Basically my goal is to lose a few kilos and mostly become a better runner and more fit. I try and get up to run everyday but sometimes it ends up being every other day. I run about 4km in 30 minutes and when I'm feeling good I tend to add probably another 2 or 3k.

I run in intervals of 1 minute running, 1 minute walking which started off as 2 minutes walking and 1 minute running. Eventually I'll widdle it down to 30s walking and 1 minute running and so on until I can jog consistently.

I do push ups and sit ups about twice a week or when I feel like it. I also jump on the trampoline occasionally for about 10 minutes.

I also go to the beach a lot and swim and play in the ocean and that certaintly takes it out of me. There's also the walks and little exercises of every day life.

I'll log everyday what I've done activtly and maybe a little bit of food management. I eat fairly healthy already so I haven't added many changes to my food plan other than trying to eat a good and filling breakfast so I don't snack so much. We will see how this works out. (pun intended)
