How I Got My Groove Back

Learning to travel light and eat what's already in my fridge

Monday Mutterings

I love it when my head is in the game. I have realized today certain things I do that help me stay in the game.

1. Eat breakfast -- Even if I can't eat it at home before I leave for work, TAKE IT WITH ME and eat it at work.

2. Make sure that I have everything I need at work to succeed ie. snacks and LUNCH! I noticed that when I don't have lunch before leaving for home I crash and burn when I do get home because I am starving!

3. Plan on getting in some type of physical exercise EVERYDAY. If I can't go to the gym (the ideal situation) get my bum outside and walk or run.

4. I need to remember there are ALWAYS better choices to make. My 60 calorie pudding is a good choice if I need something sweet but fruit is a better choice.

There is my motivational speech for the day. LOL

Attack of the Ants Part II...the sage continues!

Ok...so I am getting ready to go to the grocery store to stock my refrigerator and cupboard full of healthy goodness. I go in my closet to get my clothes and reach up to grab a top. I look at the top and then all of the sudden I see hundreds of ants ALL OVER the top. They are crawling all over 50% of my clothes!!!! I am freaking out. While I am freaking out I remember yesterday I found an ant in my running shorts before I put them on. Then when I was speaking with the doctor regarding my v.g.a. I kept feeling this stinging feeling right under my bum cheek. The minute I returned to my car to go home I shoved my hand down the back of my shorts and felt the little sucker I pulled that nasty little ant out and threw him away. Today I had four good bites (they looked like zits that need to be popped) on my legs. Instead of going grocery shopping Peter and I pulled EVERYTHING out of the closet. I mean everything. I ended up doing 5 loads of laundry. I didn't want to take any chances with anymore ants in my pants. This project lasted until about 6 o'clock tonight. Eating... wasn't so good today and we will just leave it at that. After the battle with the ants we treated ourselves to my favourite shaved ice place. I came home and started on my gov. test... which I made a 92 on! I also made an 85 on my paper that I finished this morning. So far so good. 2 more weeks of these crappy classes then I am done until August 25!!!

Tomorrow is a new day and I am going to the grocery store prepared with my list of foods from the book "You Are What You Eat". I must give my head a shake and get on track. I am going to wait until next Sunday to weigh-in. I fear the numbers I see could possibly send me into a tail spin towards another week void of H.Q.D.'s. I am going to try and make it to the gym at least five times this week. I need to jump start those endorphins!

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. Thanks again for all your wonderful comments on my video blogs and your encouraging words regarding everything else :)

Video Blog - Pre and post race thoughts

So as you can see we had a great time! I went for my video gait analysis. They recorded me running for about 2 minutes. The doc gave some great tips on what I was doing wrong and informed me that I WAS NOT an overpronator and that a lot of shoe fitters will tell you that you need a really supportive shoe if you are overweight. He said I needed a NEUTRAL shoe. My Achilles looked good. The only problems I have with running form is between my shoulders and my bum. He gave me some tips on what I need to do to correct my problems. I have an appointment Tuesday for a more thorough exam and an adjustment.

Pre- Run

Post Run

Because I need a laugh

My dog's latest antics. I am thinking about video blogging... thought I would try it on my dog first.

Stop The Madness.

What in the world is wrong with me. It has to be this heat. It's making me crazy. I can't stop shoving this crap food in my mouth. I keep telling myself just stop. STOP. STOP. While I was walking into work today I noticed my reflection in the elevator doors. "Man I look fat" I said to myself. Then I wondered if my boss will notice I have gained weight. How much weight is the question. Last time I weighed was 216.5 and that was last week sometime. I am sure it has to be in the 220's now. I am also sure a lot of it is water. I know I haven't drank nearly enough water.  Anyway. I am supposed to go to "the half" training Wednesday night. I am seriously contemplating backing out. My eating and exercise has been so bad I just hope I can get through it. I have a 5k this Saturday too. My run buddy backed out so now it looks like I am going at it myself :(. I am not a happy camper. Oh well. I just wish that I could find a balance between losing weight and everything else. It seems that when I am losing weight nothing else matters and I can cope. But when things come up that are more important than losing weight, eating is the first thing to go spiraling out of control. I must get back in to the groove. Where is my groove?

RED ALERT!!!!!!

HAS ANYONE SEEN MY GROOVE?????

Virtual Insanity

I am now on the verge of insanity. I have been writing this stupid paper since about 1 this afternoon and it is now 9:15 and I am not even half way done. I need break. Peter is out getting me a grande chai tea frap and I decided to blog. I don’t think I have ever had to do so much research. The bad thing is I haven’t procrastinated. I have done all my reading this week as it was scheduled and still not done with this stupid thing. It’s due tomorrow along with the test. I really want to finish the paper tonight.

So other than school work I haven’t been up to much. Peter and I left for the orientation yesterday afternoon. Nice hotel (for the location) with a HUGE Jacuzzi tub for 2. After we unpacked we went to eat. He ate @ Chicken E*xpress and I partook of the goodness that is S*onic. NOT. I finished up my reading and then we headed to Wal*mart (we did walk there it is right next to the hotel) to get some water and a few munchies. I also found some awesome bath salts to use in the tub. Once I got back straight in the bath and stayed in for about 30-45 and then went to bed.  I didn’t sleep all that well though. I kept thinking what if my wakeup call doesn’t work or my phone alarm doesn’t go off then I will be late. Of course ALL my alarms went off and everything went fine. It started around 8:45 and lasted till 3. However I left around 10. I told the girl that was over our group that I had to leave early to be out of the hotel by 12. I had already got my student i.d., parking sticker, and all the other fiddly stuff taken care of earlier in the week, so I got to leave REALLY early. Anyway....Peter is back with my drink… I guess I better get back to work ****SIGH**********
Here are a few pics from today.
