Still here...on low carb South Beach

Well I haven't been posting for a while as my weight has stalled and i'm getting fustrated!! I'm finally back to a "true" 201lbs, i haven't been putting in my gains as I did not really see a point! I am sticking to my diet, actually I'm going to go back to Phase 1 as apparently, i'm not yet ready to be able to eat carbs without my body slurping them up and adding them to my ass!! I had freinds over last night and 3 of us are on the South Beach and two more are thinking about it. It sure makes it easier when we are all on board so then I can serve "healthy" snacks instead of chips and salsa and stuff. The biggest problem i'm finding is when I go out for the day, there is really nothing you can eat, aside from going in a drive-thru that serves GOOD salads, but nothing you can drive and eat at the same time. I carry nuts with me at all times, in case I need a snack, but the rest of it is hard. Oh well.. carry on the good fight eh?

You Can/WILL Do IT

South Beach is a great low carb diet and it works for some people. I noticed however, that you may NOT lose lbs BUT you can lose inches fast which isn't really bad. I am on Atkins and I am losing more than what I did when I was on the SBD. Anyway, YOU WILL DO IT!

Tips to overcome the plateau

Hi.

Just read your blog. I noticed you havent been on here for a while, but dont give up!! Ive been eating low carb for a while and have done a couple of different plans through my homeopath. If you find your not loosing anymore weight, watch your fat intake too. Good fats from things to almonds are fine, just dont over-do it. Definetely avoid animal and saturated fat where possible. The key is moderation in all things allowed. You shouldnt be eating too much of one type of food.

Also, do you do daily cardio exercise? Even if its only a 20 - 30min walk around your area, thats enough. My homeopath says that this is a 'non-negtioable' and she is right. It definetely helps keep everything moving forward.

You drive and eat? You must be really busy! I do agree though that there is little you can buy out that is ok for your diet plan. Im from Australia, and in our gorcery stores they sell prepacked salads in the fruit and veg section. They are all really yummy. I get a mediterian salad with fetta cheese, letuce and olives, then I add a can of tuna or maybe some shaved turkey from the deli. That kind of stuff is really nice and not too expensive. But if your driving, maybe it would pay to find a really good quality protein bar? There are different brands offering different things. In Australia we have atkins protein bars. They will keep you full if your busy. But once again, you cant eat 3 in a day! 1 is enough. Im sure you would have stuff like that too in your country.

Being on a low carb plan requires planning mostly. When I go to work I take some tuna, a fork, a lemon wedge and green tea, or almonds for a snack (no more than 50g). Sometimes I make my salad at home too and eat that. You just have to think ahead. You get use to it and I agree, eating this way does give you access to a whole lot more food than other dieters. Its also a real healthy way to eat.

Hope your doing ok.

Emmaleen :-).
