Well, I started out great last week but didn't finish well. I still lost 2.8 pounds over the week, but at one point had lost more than that. I should be happy, but I actually gained weight in the last 3 days. I need to stop weighing myself every day. Once a week, every Tuesday. Tuesday will be the new day because January 2nd is a Tuesday and that is when the competition between SadDad and I ends.
OK, here comes the excuse. Pathetic, I know. Really it's not an excuse, I take full responsiblity of my actions. I just started this new job. There is food everywhere. Always. Pastry, pasta, pizza, you name it. So, I have a choice to make. Do I give in and increase my activity or do I avoid the temptations? Maybe somewhere in the middle. I don't want to offend these people by always turning down their offers. We'll see. As I get to know them better, it will be easier to explain that I'm trying to lose weight.
Anyone have experience dealing with new people, (who you must get along with), that love to eat? All while you're trying to lose weight?
Alright, tht's off my chest and it feels good. I can go to work and be productive. I wonder what they have to tempt me with today?
Have a great day.

food friends
While you let them bring doughnuts, you bring a veggie tray. I'll bet you there is someone else there who would be grateful for the veggie tray.
Let them know you're trying to lose weight, or lie and tell them you are diabetic. Or ask someone to share a pastry, rather than eating the whole thing. The country is filled with people trying to lose weight, and my guess is that there is someone else at your work who is trying, too. Let it be known and then band together!!
I've never had anyone take offense when I've turned something down. I'm very honest and tell them if I taste something like that, I end up inhaling all of it, and I can't let myself get near it. I tell them "If I can't count it, I dont' eat it." (I'm on weight watchers).
People will support your efforts, I'm sure. Secretly, they admire you, and unconsciously, they might try to sabotage you. Beware of the pastries!!!
I work at a small company with 2 others here in the office. They bring in lunch EVERY SINGLE DAY - McD's, BK, Chinese Food, you name it. They also used to have cookies every day, which sat on my desk because I am in a central area, but that eventually had to end because guess who ended up eating most of them?
It was hard at first to have to turn them down when they'd offer to pick someting up for me and then have to sit and drink my SlimFast while they're enjoying burgers and fries. I made a compromise - I have ONE lunch a week that I eat from where they eat - on Friday (which gives me the most time between weigh ins). That one lunch a week, I have what I want. Over time, I've actually opted for the healthier choices on the fast food menu. I can see your dilemma about being the new guy and wanting to be friendly, but you can be part of the group and not completely give in to their eating habits. You can always offer them something instead of taking their offers, or try the once a week thing. Being healthy is the important part, and when they notice you're losing weight, they'll want to help you along. Good Luck!
