Smoothies are delicious!
My blender, which was about 5 years old when I got it in 1992, finally died. I was in the middle of a BIG batch of butternut-squash soup. I tossed the blender in the trash, and finished up blending about 6 small batches in my mini-food-processor. This weekend, I bought a new blender. This blender has been a life-changer. I was inspired to make smoothies - and my kids actually said they would give up soda for the rest of their lives if I would make them banana-mango smoothies on the weekends.
That's what I'm having with lunch, by the way - a banana-mango smoothie. 1/2 banana, 1/2 cup frozen mango chunks, and 1/2 cup fat-free milk. I'm also having 1/2 turkey sandwich on whole wheat with lettuce, tomato, and avocado slices, and 1/2 cup cashew nuts on the side for crunch.
I did my calisthenics on the floor, I jumped on my trampoline, and I walked a mile and a half!
You think I'm doing really great? It's only because I feel like I have to be extra good to make up for my crappy weekend. I didn't exercise, and I had pizza on Friday night, and barbecue sandwiches on Saturday (2 of them at one sitting!) and over the course of three days I put away 4 beers and 2 glasses of wine. Bad me. No more weekends like that! I had an epiphany: I'm treating EVERY weekend like it is a holiday, and that has GOT to stop!
This next weekend should be SUPER! We have a membership to the zoo, and there is a brand new exhibit opening this weekend and members get a sneak peak - you can't get into the new exhibit until the weekend after next unless you have a membership card. So Saturday, we are taking the kids to walk around the zoo for a couple of hours. Ought to be fun! Hope the weather stays nice.
