My Story
400lbs! Wow! I turned 50 in 2007 and I had to ask, “How did I get here?” Reflecting on my life…..I mismanaged finances, health, family, and spirit. All near bankrupt, I found sanctuary in the comfort of food, creating a reclusive lifestyle. As a husband and father of seven, I considered my problems bottom of the pile. Providing security and a home seemed more important, while my spirit diminished with my most precious relationships.
When I was younger I knew my image at 220lbs was a problem, I would diet and feel better, but silent stress and life would always find me heavier. Every time would find me 20, 50, or a 100lbs overweight. After many failed weight loss attempts I finally gave up. Eventually my distorted image in the mirror looked fine. What I believed became “my” truth.
Everyone knew I needed help. Drs. in disbelief worried about diabetes, high blood pressure and congestive heart failure. The family suffered in agony watching me struggle every minute, everyday. Friends and strangers saw the desperate struggle my physical life had become. Exhausting efforts of encouragement only left my wife despondent and hurt. As for me, knee, back, chest pains and constant fatigue sent me into deep depression.
Recognition took a few monumental events. A Picture: “that’s not me!”, a commercial truck scale( only place I could get weighed), and most importantly a message: Tears streaming down his cheeks my 21-year-old son pleaded, “Dad you need to do something you need to be here for my kids,” Slowly I staggered out of my delusions and denial. My favorite saying is " Get busy living or get busy Dying" ( Shawshank Redemption) I was Busy Dying!
Just when I needed hope, a friend called. I could feel “real” truth as she described a simple plan to bring back my physical health and wellness. Finally more “light” than “tunnel.”
I started (March 10th 2007) and four days into the plan I saw results that built my confidence and I started believing that I could succeed. I walked without pain; had more energy, alertness and clarity. As I released more weight I was able to add exercise to the solution, giving mobility and freedom. Determined now, I’m back living a lifestyle I could only image before Isagenix. It is awesome knowing I can achieve optimum health.
Progress has astonished family and friends, my wife says, “You’re halfway back to sexy!” Everyone gives compliments, my pride and dignity returned. I walk anywhere with no fear after losing 114lbs. and 70 inches. I’m 278lbs! (June 30th, 2007) I’m following the system and loving it!
Anticipating renewed abundance with family, friend’s……..and future Grandkids on my knee, passion runs through my heart. Inspired, I pass this gift on to everyone, everywhere!
