Thoughts/Comments:  Well this run wasn’t so bad, considering my lazy-funk I’ve been in and haven’t run since Monday!  Also, it was hottttttt.  70 degrees is already pretty warm for running, but that humidity was AWFUL!  Anyway, enough about that…it is what it is.

Today was the first time I ran with my new group, even though they've been running for a month or so now.  Despite searching for any excuse in the world that would keep me away, I couldn’t find one.  Jada and Zoe slept all night and didn’t wake up before I left.  It wasn’t pouring down rain.  My legs felt fresh…so off I went to meet a new set of running friends.

They were pretty cool.  Just about everyone lives on the south side like me…everyone but a few people are black, which in the running world, well sometimes you feel like you’re one of “the few, the proud” when you’re out there running on the north side.  We chatted about lots of things, including Obama, what if Chicago gets the Olympics, which races we’re running this year in addition to the marathon, etc…

And the best thing about it is when I got home and took a nice cold shower I thought to myself…”maybe I’ll go out for a quick run tomorrow morning.”  I think after two weeks of lackadaisical running, I’m feeling up to it again.

running group

that's great that you found a new running group, I hope you enjoy all your runs with them and they motivate you into keeping to your schedule.  Yeah, I know the running mindset is always changing.  But it's pushing through those down points and getting back in to it is what makes you a runner.  Have fun with your training!

Don't ask me why, but....

I never would have thought that Chicago had a humidity problem like ours. Interesting, wonder how I came up with that misconception.

The Chicago 1/2 has crossed my mind more than once; however, being the first week of Aug has always been my excuse to not try it.

That was until I went to the link that you sent me and I saw a Penguin on the participation medal! You know I am loving that!

My next race is as the end of July, it is a midnight run, near our river. That is assuming that the major flooding that hit our area yesterday  has receeded.

That is awesome that you met Felicia. She was one of the first bloggers that I read b/c she was running races. In fact, I think I found you thru a link on her blog. What a small world! LOL
