Gym buddy

I really need gym buddy. Ali has afried for gym, because  we can not do anything seriouse with each other so I know if we go with each other, he becomes so competetive, and we will have huge fight. So I need to find someone. Now gym is an obligation for me not fun, and I don't know how long I can continue like this.

I found out from Spark that I am just in stage 1 (11 days after my diet) then next stage is 6 weeks tracking of eating which I already do, So it seems long way to go.

I want to write a tip everyday, it helps me to remember it : eating slowly is really helpful for me.last night I took really small portion pasta on my plate, and I was sure I won't be full with that and I need to take some more, but I decided to eat really slow, you can't believe it , I couldn't finish it, partially because it became cold and I don't like cold food, so any way I didn't  take any more even.So it was huge for me who dies for pasta.

Another Canadian! Wheeee!

Hey, thanks for commenting on my blog.  Now it's my turn.

Does your gym buddy have to be real, or would you like to pester me into power-walking until the gym I joined opens (next week - I can't wait!)
We could bug each other, and do something really cool like have a walking/running challenge from Montreal to Winnipeg.  There's probably a Tim Horton's at the 1/2-way point!   If we're each doing 2-3 miles a day, how long would it take????   (I'm kind of a geek, so I will have to figure this out....)

..

Cool idea, I calculated ( I 'm a geek, too), if we walk 3 miles a day

it is going to take  250 days to bump to each other in midway!!!!

but I like your idea of spiritual gym buddy, what we can say : virtual gym buddy:D.

Another virtual gym buddy here!

I'll help to motivate you out when I can!

Personally, I'd rather go to the gym alone.  Ever walk with a friend?  When I do, it turns into more of a stroll and a gossip session (instead of a workout) and takes longer than it should.

Do you have a CD player or MP3 player?  I can't exercise without one.  The music keeps me motivated and makes time fly faster.

Another trick I use (since I have NOOOO attention span and get bored easily) is to (using the treadmill for example), walk for a few minutes and then run for a few minutes (I'll warm up for 14 minutes and then tell myself that when I see 15:00 on the clock, to run until I see 17:00.  Then I walk again and tell myself that when the clock hits 21:00, it's time to run until 23:00 and then walk again).  You're so busy counting alternating sets of minutes that before you know it almost an hour has gone by!

Find out what machine you despise the least (LOL) and work out on that the most for now.  I hate the ellipitical but I love the treadmill. If there were only ellipticals there, I'd see it as an obligation, too.

Thanks for posting on my blog!

Not Canadian (but don't hold that against me - LOL),

Measurement Calculators and Other Stuff

You can get a pretty good estimate of your BMI, ideal weight and body fat online.  Again it's an "estimate" so it's a good idea to visit a few sites.

Here are a few sites I've used.  You can take the measurements on your own and then plug them into the online calculators:

Calculate Your Body Fat Percentage, The U.S. Navy Circumference Method

Calculate BMI (standard and metric available) National Heart Lung and Blood Institute

Calculate ideal body weight using body frame type (measure your wrists first) HealthCentral

Ideal body weight charts using height and gender criteria:  http://www.med.umich.edu/1libr/primry/life15.htm

**************

Again these are averages.  Try to stick with sites that are more specific than others (that is, if a site just calculates your ideal weight based on your height but not your frame or even gender, consider that a really vague "ideal body weight" estimate).

Lastly, this is a great online forum for diet and nutrition Oxygen Women's Fitness.  A lot of women on this (Oxygen) forum are seriously into fitness (some are just fit while others are actual fitness competitors) but they don't fool around when it comes to health.  Straight up advice about nutrition, weight loss, exercise (cardio and weight training), supplements, screwed up metabolism, female issues, etc. Women who post  there saying they're only living on lettuce and Diet Coke or trying to exist on 1200 calories a day get verbally "smacked."  It's great.  (LOL).  Anyway, people on there are super-helpful.   It's a great resource for tips and motivation.   Hey, now that I've typed this I may have to copy and paste it into my OWN blog.

PS:  Did you go to the gym today?  Are you going?  Huh?  Huh????

eating slowly

I tried that out just this past week and was amazed at the fact that if I actually don't just inhale the food, I feel fuller faster, I feel like I've enjoyed the actual taste of the food, and not just used it for a stomach filler. Cold food gets me too. I figured once the perfect temp is gone, you've munched at it long enough that you need to stop anyway. :)
