Before After

Couch to 5 K - let's try it again!

I was feeling more energetic today and so did my Couch to 5 K run.  I was noticing that with my  10#s gone, it's a little bit easier to run.  There was less jiggle on my thighs and hips.  Awesome!  Now, I can't wait to drop more weight to feel even less jiggle!!!!   I was thinking how I have 1 less sack of potatos that I am carrying around.  That really does make a big difference!  As I was running/walking I did see LOTS of people again.  I live in a busy area but I felt better about myself this time around and turned up my Tina Turner really loud so I really didn't care.

When I got back, my dh but the fan on me because he was concerned that my face was so red.  I reassured him that it's just what my face does and he just hasn't seen me after I've been running like this before!

I've been reading about everyone's knee problems so I am being very careful.  I don't have a knee problem history but then again I haven't tried to run with this kind of weight.  I don't want to screw up good knees - that's for sure!

I have a great watch that I wanted to recommend if anyone wants to splurge.  It's called MioShape.  It has all sorts of great timers, calorie counters, etc.  I've had it for about a year and it is worth every penny!  www.miowatch.com

Time to do some laundry!

Cool Runnings!

Way to go - I'm proud of you for doing the program!

Way to go: D

Awesome, that must of been amazing. Good for you. You're right for looking after your knees ( I should know, mine is hurting) Keep up the good work and remember to stay strong and focused on the goal.....wooohoo! we're all in this together!

talk to you tomorrow: D

P.S.- remember that you might be losing inches, so don't forget to take your measurements!!

Good work today!

Running a 5K is always a challenge but don't you feel great after you're done? Thanks for the advice about the Jenny Craig, I think I will give it a shot sometime soon! Is it generally easy to follow? Are you hungry during the day?

Anyways have a great week!

PS. Have you tried getting custom orthotics for your shoes? I learned in school about how improper alignment in the knees and ankles can cause all sorts of problems for people. I just got a pair and find they help a bit (although be warned you need to break them in first!). Even a pair from a good running store may help prevent problems. Hope that helps!

Red

I turn really red too.  When I used to workout at a gym, people would ask me all the time if I was okay.  I'm like, yeah, I just finished my warm up.  LOL!  I sweat like a pig AND turn red.  I used to do Jazzercise and I kept it up for the first part of my pregnancy (with DD 4 years ago.)  The instructor would always ask me if I was okay.  (over the microphone in front of EVERYBODY.)  So, it's just something I've learned to live with.  I'm so glad you're doing the C25K still.  And it does get easier when people are around.  It seems like you're already getting more comfortable.  Good for you!  Keep it up!

Kudos...

...for running! I wish I could be motivated to move like that. I have a friend whose hubby is a marathon runner and he swears by the glucosamine and chondroitin (spelling?) supplements for the joints. That and getting fitted for running shoes by a specialty store. Keep  up the great progress!

Yes, do be careful with the knees!

Its kind of weird that knee problems are going around, huh?! Good job on your run. My face gets all red, too.

Sorry I didn't get to meet you guys last week! Lets try it again soon. I know that I've got a lot going on between now and the end of the school year, but hopefully we can work something out before that.

Have a great week!
Shelley
