Before After

no dice on the new job

Oh well... it wasn't meant to be.

I didn't get the job (internal position/promotion) I applied for here. Neither did my colleague. They went with an external candidate and it sounds like the fact that she's working on her PhD (we're not) factored into the decision.

Bollocks! I'd love to continue my education and get a PhD, but I'm still paying off more than $30,000 in loans from my Master's degree. And I've already paid off more than $15,000 in loans ($10,000 from my undergrad and $5,000-7,000 for my masters).

Commiseration

I'm right there with you in that I'd love to continue on to a higher degree.  It's awful that we have to pay so much for a degree that often doesn't benefit you unless you go another step with it.  =/

Ugh!

Sorry to hear about the job - must have been one of those kinds of days - I just found out that the grant I applied for didn't get funded either

Hopefully a better opportunity is waiting around the corner.

Awwww I'm sorry to hear that hon.  Like you said, it's meant to be, but not always easy to think/hear at the time.  My last promotion attempt, the two positions for that on my team were eliminated within 9 months.  One guy got a new position in or company, the other got walked out of the building with his box of stuff, so I am now VERY glad I didn't get that position.

Can't believe they passed you over!
Bet it had a lot to do with them having to re-advertise your current post if you'd got the new one.
Hope they give you a full explanation! xx

pff

Their loss, I say. Now just do an amazing job that puts everyone else in the shade and make them regret their choice, I say. When one door closes, another window somewhere is windexed...or something? I don't do sayings. Ha!

sorry to hear that :(  their loss i say xo

Sorry to hear it

Aww So sorry to hear you didn't get the job. I'm sure you deserved to get it.
There are just too many candidates and too few jobs these days. I do not do well with rejection, and my BF and I have both been rejected for many jobs recently. bummer.

.

I am with Kelly...sometimes the job you don't get is the best for everyone.   The perfect job will probably fall into your lap when you least expect it!
