Mission Impossible

Well, 2007 has come and gone, 2008 is here. Hard to believe, but before we know it we will be ushering 2008 out and ringing in 2009.

This year will be the year that my life, my body, and my health change for the better. Sure I want the extra pounds gone, but more so I want to feel good again. I want to be able to walk to my driveway and back without being short of breath. I want to be able to walk nine holes on the golf course with my husband. I want to help my daughter train for cross country and track, not be that mom that hangs back and just watches.

Along with my workouts I am embarking on a journey to eat clean. When I first started thinking about eating clean I didn't know if I would be able to give up my one soda a day, but I think I'm going to try. I've done it before, I feel so good when I drink only water. If anything, this weekend proved to me that it is so easy to go from drinking just one to three or four or six.

So starting today I'm saying NO to soda.

I am on a mission. Will I succeed? You betcha!

Mission Possible!!!

I love your goals. I  can totally relate to wanting to be  healthy. Losing weight and looking great is one thing, but it really is about how you feel inside & out.

Ok...I'm a mom that hangs back and watches.  My 14 year old does cross country and track. I'm hoping my 13 year old will start.  Wouldn't it be great if we could get to the point where we can run a 5K as a family?  If you are interested I would love to do the Couch to 5K program as soon as the weather gets nicer (I live in upstate NY...it's zero and snowing today). Think about it.

As for the soda, once you give it up for a few weeks you don't even crave it anymore. Try flavored seltzer water...it's a little weird at first but I've come to really like it. I order seltzer with lemon when eating out instead of the soda. Best part is there are no calories and no additives.

Remember...it's not impossible, it's possible & with the right attitude it's probable.

Oh how I miss my Mountain Dew!

Well not really...I stopped drink soda right after I started my "diet". I did get headaches at first but only for a few days. Now I dont even think about them anymore. I was watching the Biggest Loser last night and Jillian said "We never drink our calories!" And I thought that was right on with what I was thinking. I didnt want to waste 170 calories on a drink when I could have some food.

Clean eating...I have seen one other person here on EP that is doing that. What exactly is that?

Clean Eating

Basically it is eating whole natural foods instead of anything processed. Lots of fresh fruits and veggies, lean proteins and lots of water.

Eating every 2.5 - 3hrs, 5 - 6 meals a day. Combining protein with complex carbs at each meal.

Here is what my meal plan for today looks like:
Drink 16oz water as soon as I got up, before breakfast

Breakfast - 7:30am
Oatmeal with flax seed, wheat germ and three ounces of turkey
8oz water

Mid-Morning Snack - 10:30am
Mixed salad greens with 3oz chicken breast
8oz water

Lunch - 1:00pm
Mixed salad greens with 3 oz tuna
1 apple
16oz water

Afternoon Snack - 4:00pm
Pineapple and turkey breast
8oz water

Dinner - 7:00pm
Grilled chicken breast
Green beans
Low Fat cottage cheese
8oz water

Here is the website where I found the info: http://www.eatcleandiet.com/

It's not so much a diet but a lifestyle. When I lost weight a few years ago I did it with a form of clean eating.
