dvd review/kettlebell

I saw Katherin Heigl does kettlebell routines and am wondering if anyone has done them.  I might try that out soon!  Forever changing my workouts keeps it so much fun!!!  I love exercise.  Love it, love it, love it!!

I just finished Firm Cardio Overdrive, and awesome video!  It was a ton of fun, very fast-paced, and just a great workout.  I'm drenched and in much need of a shower.  I will say the second set of lunges/weights is faster than I'd like so to keep control, I had to use 5-pound vs my normal 8 or 10-pound weights. All good, though

I'm on plan today yet again!  i'll  never be "off plan" because i have no plan. LOL  my goal 5 days out of the week is to show a loss in calorie king of at least 5 pounds for a month.  So this is very doable and not restrictive really.  I have no set calories per day and once I don't feel restricted, the urge to pig out has gone away.  Nothing is off limits.  i had 10 marshmallows roasted in my gas fireplace for a snack earlier.  LOL  10 of them suckers! they were damn good and well worth the 250 calories.  So i went without my baked cheetos at lunch. it's all about give and take and compromise

Have a fantastic weekend.

Workout dvd review

First off, I decided to keep my weigh-in today of 180 even and work from there.  I don't want to be stressed in the morning for it to say 179.8 and it will caues me to sleep shitty, so I'm relieved and going to keep the 180.  When I'm feeling good like I was this morning, that's when I'll get on the scale again.  it may be in another 10 days.  I'm just not sure yet. I think TOM is due around then, so I might wait till the first of the year.

I loved the Crunch Fat Burning Blast DVD I got through netflix.  It has 3 types of cardio and was seriously fun and fast-paced and got me all sweaty and burned some calories!!  I might buy that one to add to my list or just add it back to the netflix list again in a few weeks.  I definitely recommend it.

So that's all, folks :)  Have a great night!

Day off

I decided to take the advice of my fellow bloggers and take yesterday off.  It felt good.  I thought about doing a light video in the evening but i was actually too tired and did some work instead and went to bed kinda early.

Curiousity was getting me this morning, so I pulled out my scale and stepped on it.  Great news!  Back down to 180!!

I'll take my weight tomorrow as my 3-week weigh-in.  I was 185 on 11/21.  So 5 pounds in 3 weeks is  awesome for me!!  I'm very happy!!

And if I'm at least 179.8 tomorrow, i will have met my 10-day goal of 2 pounds from 181.8 to 179.8.

I'm moving in the right direction.  In the full length mirrors in the bathroom while at work today, I stared at myself from all angles and am very pleased with how well I am doing.

I am doing awesome!

Good things

I am just so happy!  I'm motivated to make healthy choices.  I feel thinner.  I am working out daily.  Do I need to take a day off even if I'm not tired or need one?   I haven't taken a day off in almost two weeks!!  So I don't want to stop now.  The exercise is too addicting and keeps me sane and the endorphins going so I'm just much more mellow and less moody.

I ate well again yesterday.  My Calorie King said 7.2 pounds over the next month!  Yahoo!  If I can keep it at least at a 5 over the next month, that's my main goal daily, so that allows me some room in my daily calories to eat a bit more if I feel more hungry. And i've realized not to stop short at dinner if I don't feel satisifed.  This leaves me wanting a snack within 30 minutes of dinner.  Otherwise, I'm often good and full until the next morning!  Learning about myself and my body as I go.

I'm still tempted to join WW just to have some accountability.  As you all know, that's why i joined the drug study.  I needed the accountability.  I was praying for the placebo!  But, nope, that computer system had to give me the boxes with the real drug .  I have to admit I do feel it did help with my appetite in the first month for sure.  Then it didn't feel so good. Maybe that was just the honeymoon period of starting a new diet, and I knew I was going to get weighed monthly, so I knew I had to lose weight!!  The doctor at the company who saw me was shocked I had lost what I did cause no one else had lost that amount of weight.  So he said, anyway.  He said he thought they key to my loss was the exercise and definitely the 1500 daily allowance for calories.  So I lost weight,  and got paid to lose weight   No complaints from me!!

I can hardly wait until this afternoon when I get my new DVDs in the mail! Which one will I do today?  Decisions, decisions!!  I do love to exercise.  I love sweating and feeling my heart rate up and love the sore feeling the next day after doing a ton of squats, lunges, and weight-training.  Feels amazing.  So exercise will wait until later today.

Exciting!!!

I have 3 new workout dvds coming tomorrow via Netflix.  I'll be sure to let you know if I love them or hate them or they're so-so so maybe you could add some to your collection!

I am so excited to add creativity.

I did strength training today, 30 minutes, and so tomorrow is cardio.  Then strength again on Thursday and Saturday.  I'm really trying to build as much muscle as I can to burn more fat.  I want to see some definition as my fat melts away.

Yay!

Echo is normal!!  So I'm good to go :)

Relief from no scale

I feel much relief that I have no scale in my closet to step on just about every time I walk in there.  I can do a strength-training video today and not worry if it will cause my weight to go up tomorrow, because I just don't care!  I measured myself a few days ago, and I'll measure myself again in three weeks and see if there is a difference.  That's the true measure of fat loss, in my opinion, and not what the scale says!

I ate on plan yesterday.  i was a tad hungrier but I did not pig out.  I had a snack or two here and there and my calorie king program says I will lose 5.4 pounds over the next month with my activity and food yesterday.  That's a number I can live with!  One pound a week and not feeling deprived is perfect!

I have an appointment with a cardiologist today regarding the findings on the echocardiogram I had done with the drug study.  My primary care doc referred me to the cardiologist and so we'll see what he says today.  i'll post when I get home.   Of course, I hope it's nothing serious!

Goals

I need to rethink my short-term goals.  It was set on a number on the scale to a certain extent, but as i do weight-lifting and work out like crazy and eat on plan, the scale goes up.   It drives me crazy!  I was sticking pretty close to the diet I stuck to in June when I was losing 2 pounds a week and I get on the scale yesterday and it's up damn near three pounds from my weigh on 12/2.    This stresses me.  So even though i felt thinner, i was aggravated.

No more scale! Not for a few weeks.  we're really supposed to look at our loss for the month as an overall anyway.   Right?  I am one of those people who can't get on it every day anymore.  It affects my mood too much.  It's just the way I am, for now at least.  So no more scale until 1/1/09.  I'm sliding it under my bed so the tempation isn't even there.

I'll stick to my eating healthy and working out pretty much daily, and I'm bound to get smaller! Regardless of what number shows on the scale.  I have to.

I'm averaging 6-7 miles a day this past week!  I march or walk all over my house all the time.

I went shopping yesterday and sizing is so stupid!!  I tried on 14 petite jeans.  Too big but the length was perfect.  12 fit in  the waist but was too short.  Then I tried on another brand and 14s were too tight.  16s were too big.  AARRGGHHH!!  or they went up too high on my waist, were too long, etc.  For shit sake, can't someone come up with the perfect jeans for me

I did make out with three great long-sleeve tops that are flattering and fit great!  Fashion Bug had 50% off, and I'm glad I went.  I got the three tops for 40 bucks   I think that's a great deal for clothes that fit right and that I like!!

So here's to a new great, successful, healthy week!  I had eggs for breakfast with about 1/2 slice of toast.  I'm on track and no binge food in my house.  I took care of that this weekend   Yep, I baked sugar cookies and then proceeded to eat them ALL!  lol  all 3000 calories worth.  Oops.

Doing it!

I'm back at it again and it feels great to be doing what i need to do to become healthier.

I made up some index cards with advantages of eating healthy.  I'm to read them a few times a day and before meals if i need to.  A friend is reading a book and this is the first task in the book.  It's more about the psychology of the dieting process.  And it's a daily reminder to keep going too.  i think I'll pick up the book too.

I got in 47 minutes of cardio today -- 21 minutes dancing with my daughter and 25 minutes on the treadmill, running a total of .8 miles. I'm not a runner, so to be able to do that twice in a week is a great feeling.  I'll try to get in some more activity later on, even if it's just dancing with my kiddo again.  I averaged 2.5 mph doing it!  Gotta love the sportbrain that tracks that.

Anyone have a heart rate monitor thing you wear that tells you your heart rate, calories burned, etc?  I want one.  I'll have to look into reviews.

Gotta go get ready to go see the Irish nutcracker.  I'm looking forward to it.  Fun times.

Steps and a pedometer

I just have to say again how much I love my sportbrain pedometer.  It's awesome.

I just uploaded my steps for the day and here are my steps for the past 7 days

  • total steps:  112,865
  • miles:  39.5
  • calories burned:  3,909
  • total activity minutes:  845
  • average miles  5.6 a day

I am very proud of my activity!!  I used to be such a lazy ass.  Now I aim for 5 miles a day.
