For real this time

Since this is my first post, I guess I should do a bit of an intro.  I'm a 42 year old SAHM to 3  lovely kids (18,2 and 1) and I've married to a pretty great (most of the time) guy for nearly 5 years.

I've been fat for most of my life, I was born a preemie--but by the time I was in Kindergarten I was 10% over normal weight.  Being fat nearly forever really shapes who you are as a person. I learned early to try to be funny 'cause that way people didn't make fun of me too much.

I've tried millions of times to lose weight--and that's probably less of an exaggeration than I'd like to admit. Right before high school I went on the "orange for lunch" diet and dropped about 15 pounds. During my first year of college instead of gaining the freshman 15, I lost about 20 pounds by eating half portions of the horrible dorm food and walking all over campus.  

None of those attempts stuck and I managed to pick up lots of bad habits along the way.

So, what makes this time different?  I don't know. Right now I feel a level of resolve I haven't felt before. Part of it could be that I'm getting older and I'm beginning to see my health slip. My blood pressure is higher than it should be, my left knee is always sore.

To make this time my last, I'm working with a personal trainer 3x a week and I'm doing Weight Watchers since it seems the most workable plan for me at the moment.  I also have a treadmill and some DVDs that should see the light of day occasionally.

I want to use this blog as accountability and as a place to vent and hopefully stay on track.

I hope you have great succes with your "Final Stand!!!"  I see by your chart, that you have 127 lbs. to lose.  Well, this is the right place for you to get lots of support from lots of people!!!  It has made a WORLD of difference to me!!

A little info about me - for you:

I'm a 64-yr.-old married grandmother who lives in WV.  I started trying to lose weight here on 1/1/08.  I want to lose 110 lbs. total, and I'm giving myself 2 years to do it.  So far, I've lost 38 lbs.

See???  This place really helps!!!  The more often you post in your blog, and the more often you go to other people's blogs and encourage them by leaving them comments  ---  the more likely you will be to lose that weight!!

If you're looking for accountability, I suggest you join a group.  (I joined the "Losing 100 lbs." group when I first started.  Gwynn, the lady who gave you the second comment here, is the group leader.  We post our losses & gains in a group "thread" that she provides.  I report mine on the same day each week.)  There are other groups here, too, if you like.  You'll see a few of them listed on the home page.

Great that you have a personal trainer and are doing WW's.  You can DO this!!
