Yay me!
So I stayed on the treadmill yesterday for 30 minutes- which is a huge feat for me. In the past, I have always kept walking by the treadmill in the gym. I just don't enjoy it at all. I would rather bike for an hour or hop on the elliptical then ever get on the dreadmill. But if I am going to "learn to run" I gotta start somewhere. When I gain a little more confidence I will jog outside ( I have the Nike Itunes shoes so I can easily track my distances, etc.).
I mentioned yesterday that I was going to use the Couch-to -5K Running plan-so I followed workout #1 and in 30 minutes I went 2.4 miles (walk/ run). I was pretty pleased with myself when I finished, and I hoped on the bike after that for 8 1/2 miles...so it was a solid work out.
Can you tell I want my reward for hitting goal??
So when I told my friend that I was going to start to run she told me that I should aim to run the 10k Tufts for Women in October...I think I can do it. Wait... I KNOW I can do it!
The big plan is to run a 13K (little over 8 miles) the last week in October at Disney...so that is what I am shooting for.
I have to keep telling myself that slow and steady wins the race...I don't care how long it takes me I just want to say that I did it!
