woohoo day 5
almost a whole week! I'm rocking this no smoking thing.. even though I had a dream last night that I smoked and I was sooo dissapointed in myself. This weekend is the real test. I'll be around family.. who smoke... sooo hopefully I can stay strong and chew more gum when I feel the urge to have one.
Working out I did great!
I rode the bike in yesterday and today. I'm getting faster on the route which is great! I cut it down from 30 mins to 20 mins. I can't wait to take my measurements at the end of the month! Even though I have peeked at the scale this morning it went back up.. that doesn't matter to me.. muscle weighs more then fat and I am building muscle that will help burn the fat :) Tomorrow is my actual WI so I will input what I weigh tomorrow morning.
I have a softball game today but I think it's going to be cancelled due to rain.. I kindof hope it does get cancelled I am sooo tierd. I feel asleep on teh couch after dinner last night and woke up at 930 pm. then I worked on the website for an hour and went right back to sleep for the night. waking up at 6 and riding in is kicking my butt; yet it feels so good...
Ok lunch time is over..
I'll check up on you ladies later
Day 3 no smoking!
Last night was horrible.
The nic fit I was having was insane. Thank god the BF didn't have any ciggs in his car because I would have broke and smoked one. This morning wasn't that well either.. Every gas station I drove by the thought of stopping and buying a pack crossed my mind. I never stopped, I knew if I had 1 I would have more.
Once I got to work this morning the nic fit stopped. Smoking is NOT an option! I can do this I can succeed! I will succeed!
I forgot to do my Jillian 30 day shread video AGAIN this morning. This new schedual of me waking up at 6am SUCKS. I hit snooze till 630.. make my food for the day, get ready for work then run out the door. Maybe since I come home earlier now I should do it when I come home... Hmmm that's a good thought. I think I'm going to start that tonight. Morning just doesn't work for me. I didn't bike in today either.. my butt still sort of hurts.. I will tomorrow I promise!
On my lunch I walked my short route.. This morning I walked half of that short route to get to work... and when I leave Ill walk half of that short route again to get to the car. Maybe tonight after or before the 30 day shread video the bf and I can go rollerblading or walking... It's sooooooo nice out today!
Today I'm eating:
Banana
Salad w/ dry tuna and shreaded cheese
broccali
strawberries
apple sauce.
Not sure what's for dinner yet...
Something I found thought I would share it with all of you:
Bananas contain three natural sugars - sucrose, fructose, and glucose combined with fiber. A banana gives an instant, sustained , and substantial boost of energy.
Research has proven that just two bananas provide enough energy for a strenuous 90-minute workout. No wonder the banana is the number one fruit with the world's leading athletes.
But energy isn't the only way a banana can help us keep fit.
It can also help overcome or prevent a substantial number of illnesses and conditions, making it a must to add to our daily diet.
Depression: According to a recent survey undertaken by MIND amongst people suffering from depression, many felt much better after eating a banana. This is because bananas contain tryptophan, a type of protein that the body converts into serotonin, known to make you relax, improve your mood and generally make you feel happier.
PMS: Forget the pills - eat a banana. The vitamin B6 contains regulates blood glucose levels, which can affect your mood.
Anemia: High in iron, bananas can stimulate the production of hemoglobin in the blood and so helps in cases of anemia.
Blood Pressure: This unique tropical fruit is extremely high in potassium yet low in salt, making it perfect to beat blood pressure. So much so, the US Food and Drug Administration has just allowed the banana industry to make official claims for the fruit's ability to reduce the risk of blood pressure and stroke.
Brain Power: 200 students at a Twickenham (Middlesex) school were helped through their exams this year by eating bananas at breakfast, break, and lunch in a bid to boost their brain power. Research has shown that the potassium-packed fruit can assist learning by making pupils more alert.
Constipation: High in fiber, including bananas in the diet can help restore normal bowel action, helping to overcome the problem without resorting to laxatives.
Hangovers: One of the quickest ways of curing a hangover is to make a banana milkshake, sweetened with honey. The banana calms the stomach and, with the help of the honey, builds up depleted blood sugar levels, while the milk soothes and re-hydrates your system.
Heartburn: Bananas have a natural antacid effect in the body, so if you suffer from heartburn, try eating a banana for soothing relief.
Morning Sickness: Snacking on bananas between meals helps to keep blood sugar levels up and avoid morning sickness.
Mosquito bites: Before reaching for the insect bite cream, try rubbing the affected area with the inside of a banana skin. Many people find it amazingly successful at reducing swelling and irritation.
Nerves: Bananas are high in B vitamins that help calm the nervous system.
Overweight and at work? Studies at the Institute of Psychology in Austria found pressure at work leads to gorging on comfort food like chocolate and crisps. Looking at 5,000 hospital patients, researchers found the most obese were more likely to be in high-pressure jobs. The report concluded that, to avoid panic-induced food cravings, we need to control our blood sugar levels by snacking on high carbohydrate foods every two hours to keep levels steady.
Ulcers: The banana is used as the dietary food against intestinal disorders because of its soft texture and smoothness. It is the only raw fruit that can be eaten without distress in over-chronicler cases. It also neutralizes over-acidity and reduces irritation by coating the lining of the stomach.
Temperature control: Many other cultures see bananas as a "cooling" fruit that can lower both the physical and emotional temperature of expectant mothers. In Thailand, for example, pregnant women eat bananas to ensure their baby is born with a cool temperature.
Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD): Bananas can help SAD sufferers because they contain the natural mood enhancertryptophan.
Smoking & Tobacco Use: Bananas can also help people trying to give up smoking. The B6 and B12 they contain, as well as the potassium and magnesium found in them, help the body recover from the effects of nicotine withdrawal.
Stress: Potassium is a vital mineral, which helps normalize the heartbeat, sends oxygen to the brain and regulates your body's water balance. When we are stressed, our metabolic rate rises, thereby reducing our potassium levels. These can be rebalanced with the help of a high-potassium banana snack.
Strokes: According to research in "The New England Journal of Medicine," eating bananas as part of a regular diet can cut the risk of death by strokes by as much as 40%!
Warts: Those keen on natural alternatives swear that if you want to kill off a wart, take a piece of banana skin and place it on the wart, with the yellow side out. Carefully hold the skin in place with a plaster or surgical tape!
So, a banana really is a natural remedy for many ills. When you compare it to an apple, it has four times the protein, twice the carbohydrate, three times the phosphorus, five times the vitamin A and iron, and twice the other vitamins and minerals. It is also rich in potassium and is one of the best value foods around So maybe its time to change that well-known phrase so that we say, "A banana a day keeps the doctor away!"
PS: Bananas must be the reason monkeys are so happy all the time!
I will add one here; want a quick shine on our shoes?? Take the INSIDE of the banana skin, and rub directly on the shoe...polish with dry cloth. Amazing fruit.
day 2 of not smoking...
WOoooohooo this is great! No real big cravings, except for after dinner last night... That was a bit hard. After we dropped off the BF's mom he steped outside the car and smoked a cigg.. I was going to kill him and he stunk SOOOOOOOOO bad when he got back in the car. YUCK! But ever since the bf met me after work he only smoked that one cigg and that was it all night.. Soooo him stating that he was cutting down seems to be working.
I did notice yesterday when I got home and changed that the patch folded up on itself and only half of it was on my arm. I'm not sure when that happened? Biking to or from work... but either way I was only having half of the nicotine at that moment. I ended up taking it off around 8 and being fine all the way up until I went to bed. I woke up this morning made coffee, got together my lunch, took a shower, even went on the computer and was not craving. I put on the patch before I left my house. So that alone.. being on the computer with coffee in my hand in the morning lol is a big accomplishment lol. I think after day 4 I'm going to drop my nicotine dosage. Right now I'm on a 21mg patch. on day 5 I'm going to drop it to the 14mg patch and see how I handle it.
Enough of smoking.. Im just proud of myself..
I didn't bike in today,.. lol That seat hurt my butt! It hurts to sit lolol tomorrow I'll try biking in again. I tried to do my 2 mile walk today but as I was going my foot started acting up and I didn't want it to get worse again so I came back. I need to be in shape for softball friday!
Today I'm eating:
Banana
lettuce/tuna (no mayo) and cheddar cheese in a salad format (no dressing)
Orange
Strawberries
Apple Sauce
~*Dinner*~
Pork Chops
Broccali
(not sure what we are having for another side)
Hello all! :)
My Birthday weekend in NYC was Fablous! We walked a good 20 miles lol I love NYC. The bad part was though that I got tendonitus in my foot and could barley walk all last week. Which put me out of commission excercise wise. BUT I rested it up and it's almost 100% better!
I also started riding my mountain Bike to work this morning... WOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOO what a workout! I parked at my mothers house and rode to work. It's about 2.7 miles but man my legs were killing by the time I got here! It felt great and woke me up!
Today is also day 1 of not smoking. Woooohooooo I'm using the patch. I only had bad cravings this morning when driving, then once I got on my bike to ride the cravings went away. The patch is really helping so far! This is great! My bf.. he didn't make it past the morning till he broke down and bought a pack of smokes. I told him he can't smoke around me. It's that freaking morning to work car ride I'm telling ya, hard to beat that ride.
Mr. Bush's stimulous check came for me over the weekend. I was going to save it. But instead I did what he wanted us to do.. lol I stimulated the economy.. went shopping for some home stuff we needed and bought a Wii. HAHAHA I love the wii it's great. We've been having bowling and tennis matches all night last night. They have some fitness thing coming out next week for it.. I'm going to check that out.
I haven't done any 30 day shread yet cuz of my stupid foot. I'm going to start it first thing tomorrow.. It will also help kill the nic fit cravings I have in the morning.
Now to check up on all of yall cuz I'm been a poopie head and haven't been around.. Yell at me please lol :)
Hi everyone!
I know I haven't been around in a week or so. Work has been kicking my butt along with finals at school. I typically make my post on my lunch break.. yet that has been filled with school work lately. Ugh I hate this class! Thank god it's over next week.
Here's an update.....
I lost another pound! WHOOOO hoooo and my waist went down another 1.5 inches. My hips went down another inch! Now no more measuring till June 1st!
well today is my Bday! YAY 27 years old woohoo lolol. I took today, monday and tuesday off... Today I'm going hiking with a friend then off to dinner with my mom and step father. Tomorrow I'm going to dinner with my father and step mother.. then on Sunday and Monday the BF and I will be in NYC :) I love NYC. We go there alot so all the touristy stuff is old to us. We do alot of hanging in Soho and greenwhich village. I like going to the odd punk clubs where there are people with mohawks and stuff... I LOVE IT lol We are going to the muesuam of natural history, and I HAVE to hit up little italy for an iced cappachino and cannoli hehehe then definitly go to canal street to buy a knock off purse or soemthing lol. yeah I can't wait for NY. Rumor has it my sister convinced my dad to buy me a mt bike!!!!! WOOOOOOHOOOOO I wanted to start mountain biking again so this gift will be great! On top of going to NYC the bf bought me a beautiful diamond braclet!!! He's such a sweetie and he got me a card from him and a card from our cats LOLOLOL he drew little paw prints on the envelope and wrote mommy.. he is sooo funny and cute.
Softball has started and it's kicking my butt! We had a game yesterday and I wiped out. I dunno what happened.. lost my footing or tripped over first base. But all I know is I fell super hard on my face pretty much.. got the wind knocked out of me and my ribs are bruised. lol It's kindof funny yet my diafram was in pain a bit last night. I'm better now, yet my ribs are still bruised up a bit.
I haven't really walked at all this week. I've been so busy doing homework on my lunch that I haven't gotten the chance to... BUTTTTTTT I did get the julian micheal 30 day shread video!!!! I got it via my block buster cue! I have new goals for May and doing the 30 day shread video 5 days a week in the morning before work is one of them. The bf even said he'll do it too as long as it's not gay lol SO I'm going to start that today :) And for May I'm going to get back on my C25K. I haven't done the program in nearly a month.. SO it's time to get back on it and start at week 1 again.
May 5th is my quit smoking date. I got the patch and hoping I can do this. Honestly I'm pretty scard about quitting. I remeber last time and how hard it was and how my body suffered. I'm hoping the patch will help those urges.
Let's list them out: 30 Day Shread video - 5 times a week.
Walk - 3 times a week.
c25k- 3 times a week.
Quit day May 5th
hoping for a good WI tomorrow. The walks this week has kicked my BUTT!!! YEA!!!1 yet I'm a bit nervous about my WI tomorrow... Why? hmm not sure why.. maybe bad eating choices this week. We went out to dinner 2 times!!! 2 times too many! And then I went to my mothers after work last night, they all ordered pizza.. I said naw I'll wait till I get hom and eat my salad. well who eats not 1, 2 or 3 slices but 4 slices?!?! OH yeah me grrrrr So dissapointed in myself and I don't feel as thin as I did all week.. stupid pizza. I can't believe I ate all that crap :(
Today I busted my butt walking it's also like 80 here today so I was sweating again on my walk.. I got hot really easily and it took me over half an hour to cool down after. After work tonight I am meeting up with my sister for a good walk. I will prob keep it a bit slower then I have been walking on my lunches. I think we will be walking about 3-5 miles tonight. I gotta map out our route and see how far it is. Hopefully this will help knock off some of that nasty pizza i ate lol. I'm excited to measure inches next week.. whoohoo I think I made progress... only time will tell.
For fooding today I have:
Breakfast: Cottage cheese
Lunch: salad w/ low fat italian dressing & organic chicken breast & 4 peperonis
Snack: Orange and apple sauce.
wooooooooo
that's all i gotta say about that lunch time walk. I just kicked my own butt! It's 70 outside today HOT HOT HOT and with power walking plus the temps I was sweatin like a hooker on Christmas! woooweeeeeee
I did my medium modified walk. those stairs kicked my butt and my legs are hurting a bit. Whew I think this is exactly what my body needed to keep up the cardio. Before the walks were modified they were getting too easy for me, and I was coming back with still a half hour left on my lunch. Now with the new walks, i feel my muscles in my legs working more, and alittle voice in the back of my head says, "skip this last set of stairs" lol but I keep pushing through because skipping the stairs will just be too easy for me!
We never got to go rollerblading lastnight. we met at the grocery store and by the time we got home it was almost 8. We made a late dinner and watched ghost hunters.. By the time that was over i was exhausted and ready for bed. No rollerblading tonight due to the BF working till about 2am. Plus I have a super big project that is due for class tonight so after work I'll be pounding that away. fun fun.. I am fending for myself for dinner tongiht So I'll probably just make a chicken salad. Something nice and simple and cold.. :) I like cold food lol We do have left over pasta from last night so maybe a big salad and a cup of pasta..
Today for fooding: Breakfast: Grapes Snacks: Apple sauce Lunch: Low carb wrap, 2 slices american cheese, lettuce, peperoni, organic low fat chicken breast, spicey mustard Snacks: Orange
apple
Fruit and Nut bar Dinner: Chicken, Lettuce, italian dressing
1 cup pasta, mushrooms, sauce
Modified walks.
I modified my walks yesterday. I usually have 3 different routes that I walk. Short, med and large. I only walk the short route if my shins hurt. The long route is now flooded by the river. :( So I modified my medium route. Usually with all the routes I go up 1 big flight of stairs. I modified my routes so now I go up 3 really big flights of stairs. Hopefully this extra cardio helps. :)
Tonight we are going rollerblading whooohooo. The BF brought up going and I'm all for it! We are also going grocery shopping which reminds me I have to put together a list of what we need. Lots of healthy things.. fruits and veggies mainly. We also need something for dinners, because umm we have nothing at the moment for dinners. the last two nights we ate out, and we are supposed to be watching our money and eating out doesn't help that. And I need to get the stuff I make my chili with.. yummm chili :)
Biggest loser kindof sucked last night. I kept flipping between that and deadliest catch. I hate it when shows draggggggggg out the finally and show the story of everyone there. I was super happy Ali won she desereved it, yet she seemed so cocky about it before she actually weighed in. She looked great, I love the little hair cut she got also.. Maybe I'll cut my hair like that. :)
Today for fooding I have:
Grapes
Orange
Apple
Apple sauce
6 inch veggie sub on wheat from subway
not sure what is for dinner yet.
This week I have:
Walked 3 out of 3
Jogged 0 out of 3
Jumped 0 out of 3
forgot the jogging gear again today.. it's ok though I'm still going to walk. My friend even said she will walk with me today so double YAY! It's once again a nice day woohoo
after reading bellydancings blog about jillians new dvd I'm tempted to go buy it. I'm on a few other sites and have heard nothing but good reviews from this new dvd. I think it would be a great morning excercise for the BF and myself. We'll see..
I still haven't jumpped rope this week! EKKKKKKKK that's almost two weeks in a row! NOT GOOD LORI! I got about 2 weeks of April left.. and I want to hit my goals I NEED to get my butt down stairs and jump some rope!!!!!
Biggest Loser Finalle is on tonight wooohooo I'm excited! I'm hoping Ali wins! She looks great and really hit the goal overall. I just started getting into this show a few months ago, can't believe I didn't watch it before. It's maybe a good thing cuz it sucked me right in lolol.
Anyways off to check up on all of you. Lunch time is coming up in a bit
Walked 2 out of 3
Jogged 0 out of 3
jumped 0 out of 3
