Christmas was so much fun, as usual. Mike and I went over to my parent's house where we played card games, drank and laughed. We spent the night and had Christmas morning together for present-opening and breakfast. Every year my mom says she needs to start spending less on presents and every year she keeps piling them on. I found myself surrounded by gifts this year, which was pretty exciting. Lots of new clothes that fit! Mike got me a beautiful Bulova watch with baby diamonds and two sapphires. See the picture here. I especially love the band.
We planned to try to stay on plan but it just didn't end up that way. There was way too much good food to pass up. We had a Christmas Eve ham dinner with green bean casserole and a cheesy potato dish. Then on Christmas morning we had big fatty omelets with Portuguese sausage, regular sausage, cheese, etc. On top of that there were two different kinds of cinnamon rolls, sausage links and mimosas. Yes, I ate it ALL. Not to mention the fudge and cookies that were sitting around.
Then on Christmas night we went to Mike's parents house for dinner where they had a roast, browned potatoes, sweet brown bread and beer. After the presents there was dessert which included about a thousand sugar cookies, fudge, home made white cake with home made white frosting and peppermint candy ice cream. Yep, we ate it all... And a lot of it. Can we say, "absolutely no self-control"???
I think I ate a week's worth of food in two days. Expecting a 5-pound gain (but not at all worried about it), I stepped on the scale yesterday morning. Only a 2-pound gain!!! Yay! Then this morning I was down a pound, weighing in at 111.7. After all that insane amount of eating? I'll take it! Mike gained 3 pounds and he's happy with that. haha
I hope everyone else had a good Christmas. I was reading around the blogs and was glad to see that so many of you practiced such good self-control over the holidays. You go girls! Seriously, you rock.
Oh man it feels so GOOD to be getting healthy again!!! It's been a couple weeks that I've been sick, lacking energy and going through that big box of tissue on the coffee table. Today I have my energy back and it feels awesome so I just had to tell someone!!! I got in 4 AP's today and tonight we're going to a welcome home party for a friend who came in from Ohio. We haven't seen her in about a year.
Mike became an uncle yesterday and that was also exciting! We couldn't stay near the baby long because we both have colds but he's such a cutie! He has lots of black hair.
I hope everyone has a really fun holiday weekend! Don't eat too many yummy treats!
I went to my sister's place yesterday and we baked! We made thumbprint cookies, sugar cookies (the kind you get to decorate!), walnut balls and Mike's mom's famous fudge.
That fudge is the best fudge in all the world. But really, all you have to do is go to the store and buy some Jet-Puffed Marshmallow Creme and the Fantasy Fudge recipe on the back is the same stuff. It's amazing and super easy to make. Did I mention it's also super-horrible for you?
I was surprised when the scale said I only gained a pound this morning. I'm expecting another gain tomorrow! I've been baaaad. Eating all the cookie dough, especially the sugar cookie dough. Mmmmmm...
I'm back to being an angel today. I will earn 3-4 AP's and not use any more flex points. It's good to be able to get right back on plan.
Seriously. Mike and I are going over to my parent's house for Christmas Eve night, spending the night and then having Christmas morning together. She called me up today to ask what kind of alcohol we want and what we want with dinner... On top of it all she is making low-fat sides to go with our ham dinner on Christmas Eve and she bought Splenda cinnamon rolls for Christmas morning. She is so supportive (well she's on WW, too). I just had to get that out there.
Meh this cold is driving me nuts! I think I'm in the worst stages of it now so it should be over soon.
I did ok on AP's this week for the holiday challenge. I was going to say I could have done better but with this cold I probably should have done less. Results:
Sunday - 0
Monday - 0
Tuesday - 2
Wednesday - 4
Thursday - 4
Friday - 4
Saturday - 2

Tonight we are going out to a seafood restaurant. I have 31 flex and 13 daily points available. I think I will get something good tonight.
Happy Friday!!! Today seems like a big mess here in western Washington. We had a wind storm last night and the power went out everywhere. The power just came back on around noon in my apartment and I hear it will take them 3 days to get all 1 million people back on the grid, so we are lucky.
Today was supposed to be the last day of school before winter break but it was cancelled. That's kind of nice considering I've got this really bad cold. It's been bugging me all week but today is definitely the worst. Stuffy nose, congested, coughing... I took Robitussen at 6am and have been flying high as a kite ever since.
Time to try and go workout. Hope everyone had a great week and have an awesome weekend!
Just got back from lunch thinking I was being "good". lol Was I ever WRONG! I don't think I've ever grossly misjudged the points on something like this before.
I had a 2 point little bag of popcorn at first and then went for a couple "small" snacks. A Rice Crispies Treat (average size) and half of a Costco chocolate muffin. I assumed the muffin would be 3-4 points since it was only a half... And hey, it's just a muffin.
I looked at several sources online for the calories in a Costco chocolate muffin. The whole thing is worth over 16 points!!! So I had half a muffin for freaking 8 points!? I will never eat Costco chocolate muffins again. I am down to 3 points for the rest of the day and it's noon.
Ok friends, I need some motivation. I need someone to tell me what I'm doing is wrong because it is. I am working my way toward losing control already and need to quit it. I don't usually share my food intake but I think maybe it will push my point.

Now what I am focusing on the most right now is all the chocolate in the middle of the day. That's what I've been eating for lunch. Every day several teachers bring in holiday treats to the staff room, I bring a Luna Bar with me just in case there isn't anything I like... But of course there's all kinds of goodies so I splurge on a little bit of everything and it all adds up to at least 10 points just for lunch and I don't even bother with the Luna Bar. By the time I get home from work I have like 5 points left (pretty much between 12pm and 10pm). This is not right.
On top of it all I am getting sick and have earned a whopping 2 AP's for the whole week so far.
Any suggestions for stopping this splurging fit? I was thinking I could choose just 1 goodie at lunch time and nothing more and actually eat a real lunch.
Weight Watchers has new materials as of this week! This is so exciting! I like the way that changed how many points we get per day based on personal information. Mike went from 20 to 27 points per day!!! Holy crap I'm so happy for him. Mine went from 20 to 18, so I am sitting here in starvation, feeling a bit sorry for myself. It's partially my fault, though. I didn't really have time to exercise and stuffed my face full of caramel/chocolate brownies for lunch.
I understand why I should be eating less, though. If I really added 4 extra points per day to the normal 20 (making a total of 24 points per day) and ate all my 35 flex points and all of my AP's, I would gain weight. I know my body well enough at this point to be sure of it. I only had 22 points per day last week and had a slight gain.
I hope the new amount of points per day works out well for the rest of you on WW!
This is where I need to stay in regards to weight. Since the pad thai on Monday the scale has shown a 2 pound gain but today it went down a pound so it seems to be fluctuation.
I am at work right now; the kids just went home. I was in the office picking something up off the fax machine when one of my sped co-workers walked into the office. She smirked at me and told me my jeans are getting baggy. She's right, too. I told her they're my size 2's and I don't own any smaller jeans right now. I'm hoping to save up and go shopping after Christmas.
Thank you all for your comments on my last post! I do plan to stay at this weight and not continue to lose. Losing any more weight would be a bad idea, unless you're one of the girls from the chic lit novels I've been reading.
I just finished reading The Devil Wears Prada and am anxiously awaiting the DVD release next week. Onto more Sophie Kinsella novels. It's a new hobby, borderline-obsession.
Sorry to change the subject! So far I'm at 15 AP's and plan to exercise today, tomorrow and probably Sunday. They have been serving sweets up the wazzu in the staff lounge just to be festive and I've been sampling all the different things people bring in. Today it was chocolate covered mint Oreos, banana bread and cinnamon bread. Yesterday it was even worse. Good luck to everyone with resisting the temptations!
