How's everyone's week going? We are WASLing here in Washington. That's the big state test that our sophomores have to pass in order to graduate. Joy! It's not easy, either. I have to watch my special ed students (who have low reading/writing/math skills) try to pass this thing when non special-ed students sometimes struggle with it. I took it when I was a sophomore and did very well, but I was above-average and got all A's in school. And I didn't have to pass it to get a diploma.
I weighed in yesterday morning and had a .3 lb gain. Let's call that maintaining for the week. I knew I was going to have a gain because of how off-plan I was last week. After using all 35 flex points I probably went over that by at least 20 more points.
I have these little sheets of paper that I use to track exercise, water, multi-vitamin, fruits/veggies, dairy, and overall "being on plan". I put little sparkly happyface stickers in each box that I complete for the day. I've been tracking this info since the beginning of the calendar year. On Monday I reviewed all of them and found that consistency is my problem. I am not staying on plan consistently throughout several weeks.
Overall I have been losing just a little bit of weight, then there were a couple weeks where I had large gains and that's how I ended up back at my starting weight. So far I've lost a total of 2 pounds since the beginning of January and it's already mid-March. I can do way better than that! Anyone can do way better than that in 2 months. 2 pounds in 2 months? Come on!
By the way, I tried out the new Firm DVD, Cardio Dance Fusion. It's so much fun! It's 45 minutes but there is an express option that is shorter. It's all cardio and you get to do some pretty fun dance moves like the charleston. Most of the time it doesn't feel like exercising. Only at the very end where she has you do some plei's (sp?) does it feel like exercise. I highly recommend it.
My commitments for this week: Be consistent and stay on plan! Stop going overboard on the weekends and stop using all 35 flex points before the weekend even begins!

In the mail....
My Cardio Dance Fusion is in the mail...or it will be soon. I ordered it from Amazon.com. I can't wait to try it.
Consistency....oh, yeah. That's the key! I am working on being more consistent, too! We can do this!
I'm learning exercise no matter what for health. And eating just cutting back a little makes a huge difference in the end, and for me having that free day once per week means everything.. lol We can do this together!!
I have a consistency problem also. To top that, it seems when I start to see some results, I always manage to do something to mess it up. I think my prob is that I think I can still do the same things after I lose a little weight. I could, if I would exercise more. I HATE to walk and I think I need to do that. I want a treadmill but not ready to invest in it just yet. But spring is coming again, and I am more active during that time. So just maybe I will be back on par and feeling it!
So hang in there, you have done well thus far. I might have to check out that video you talked about. -J
Sounds funner than it must actually be. Well, I hope it went well. I can totally imagine how hard it must be for your students when even the non SE kids have a hard time! I hate tests!!!
I hope you're having a great weekend and are being consisitent! Save some of those flexies! Thanks for the comment the other day. I know you guys are always here for me and I appreciate it!! Thanks!
I usually use mine on the weekend, which isn't bad, but my points run from Thurs thru Wed, so if I blow them on the weekend, I feel out of sorts Mon-Wed until I get new ones again.
Hopefully this reevaluating where I am at will work for changing things around.
Hope the kids do well with the WASLs. Can't believe we're going to have to deal with that next year with my oldest, huh? Lovely.
Hope you have a great rest of the week. How's Mike feeling, any better?
hey leanne - good to see another post from you! all your record keeping has finally paid off because you can see exactly what wasn't working and make small modifications in the future to get the weight loss moving in the right direction. of course, keep in mind too that if you're firming up the scale may not be moving down but you're still getting smaller!
i still think it's funny though how our patterns seem to be in-sync all the time. i had two somewhat large gain weeks since the beginning of 2008 that have me almost where I started the new year off too. but it's ok - we are learning and that is what is important. i think you use a different program to track your food and weight and stuff, but thought i'd recommend "The Daily Plate" which i've been using and which has been really neat for tracking my intake and goals.
