Wedding Updates

Here's our wedding update.  It's been a while since I've even said anything about it.  Things sort of went on the backburner as soon as the school year started but we are slowly working our way there.

The wedding is set for July 20, 2008 at the Lake Wilderness Lodge in Maple Valley.  It's a really nice facility at a very decent price.  It's got a spiral staircase and lots of space, plus it's right on a lake.  The side of the lodge that is facing the lake is pretty much made up of glass and that is where we will hold the ceremony.

We're just now getting the payments made to officially book our officiant and our DJ.  We booked the caterer a long time ago and they will be doing our food, cake and serving the alcohol that we will be bringing in.  We have a photographer in mind as well as a florist.  I told my mom that we'd get a couple checks in the mail to secure some people this month.  My sister is calling my mom the "Bridezilla" because she is way more into this wedding than I am right now.  She is constantly calling and e-mailing to see if I've done something and to tell me what needs to get done and when it needs to be done.  Money has been tight so I've been waiting to save up a bit.

I am looking forward to getting married and having a wedding but planning it all makes me so much less excited and really more stressed.  Happiest day of our lives?  I'd like someone to tell me that their wedding was the happiest, non-stressful day of their life after being the one doing all the work.  Meetings and booking and pricing and planning and money we quite frankly don't have right now.  I'm hoping that I will feel better by spring, at least.

Mike cooked tonight and it was wonderful.  He spend a good portion of the day making it.  He made everything from scratch and stocked our kitchen with a bunch of spices, too.  He made a home-made vinagrette for our salad, and a potato soup with green beans.  For the entree he made cajun-style cod.  It was really spicy which is how we like it.  The rub was made from a mix of different spices, including cayenne pepper and freshly ground peppercorns.  Burke came over to share with us and brought a bottle of Pinot Grigio.

I also went shopping for a couple meals that I will be making this week.  What a breakthrough!  We don't cook.  Ever.  Maybe if we get into the habit of doing this more and more often we will not have to worry about the health of our future children that we plan to have one day.

Wedding Stress

Ah yes! I remma those stressful days when I was planning the wedding. I couldn't wait for it to be over and boy was I glad it was over! I did have a great day on my wedding day and I had to remember that nothing is perfect. It will be here before you know it and keep it simple as possible.

All that food cooking sounds really good.

YIKES

Um, have fun planning your wedding.  I wanted to just go to a Justice of the Peace and elope.  Nope, DH wanted a "real" wedding.  I think we might still be paying on it.  LOL!  (Eight years later.)

Good for you for cooking a little more.

When I hear...

cooking and spices in the same sentence, it makes me hungry!

Planning...

I'm sure it will all pay off in the end.  Your day will be wonderful and you will not be stressed.  You are so lucky to have your family helping you.

Your dinner sounds so GOOD.  I love spicy and I love fish!

Wedding

I didn't want to pry - I was wondering why you hadn't brought up your wedding plans in awhile.  I'm happy to see that things are chugging along nicely.  Certainly, it's a lot of work.  I hope you plan to leave on a honeymoon afterward - you'll need the rest.

If your mom wants a say in your plans, perhaps she should pay for some of it.

Good luck!

Angel

What a Beautiful Bride you will make!!

Glad to hear the wedding plans are going well, but I hear you on the money side of things.  Why weddings have to cost so stinking much is beyond me!  But I'm sure, what ever you plan, will be beautiful!

The dinner you had the other night sounds yummy.  I love cooking and always feel so good when I eat something I've prepared myself!!  I hope you guys continue to cook as well!!  You'll find you like things you never thought you would of before!!

Keep up the awesome work!!

 Jenn

yummy

cooking is so much healthier and tastes better than eating out or eating a frozen meal a lot of the time!  i'm glad you were able to do that and hopefully you can do it more now.  i hate cooking for one person, but I like having a roommate now and cooking for 2 or cooking together -- even more fun!  Recommend you try it sometime.

i've heard a lot of my friends say the same things about wedding planning.  it is definitely a lot of work, but hopefully all the work will make the day all the more special.  :-)  Take care!

Wedding Worries!?!?!

Can't say I have ever been through wedding planning to any great detail but men only care about the tuxedo and showing up on time.   The only thing I remember about my wedding day was the fun of seeing everyone who showed up.  I guess I just made sure that I wanted to have good memories of the day I got married.  If it happens again I hope that I can just relax and have a good time.  I hope that you enjoy yourself and have fun going through the experience of your wedding.  It should be a positive experience.

Wedding Stress....

No matter how much stress and how much of a PIA it is to plan and get it all perfect, marrying the love of your life will ultimately still be the happiest day of your life!

Good luck with the wedding plans!
