YAY we have internet!!! It's so funny how dependent we become on these crazy inventions. We moved over the weekend and were able to get internet just this evening.
I'm fine, we're fine, things are all good. :) I don't want to elaborate too much because I'm crazy-tired. It's 2:15am. Here's the rundown of the last week:
Mike's friend stayed with us and we drank alcohol every night because it was fun and social. He left on Saturday morning. Mike and I also moved that day. There were 7 people, a 14' U-Haul, two SUV's, and 3 other cars. You'd think all of that would be enough in one trip. We were living in a one-bedroom apartment. It took us a two trips to move most of the stuff, and then 3 or 4 extra trips on Sunday with one SUV. Then cleaning the old apartment. Wow, we have a lot of stuff.
It feels great to be done with our move! We love the new place and have an extra 200 square feet and an extra bedroom and bathroom. :)
We have a friend who has to be moved out of her place as of today, so she called us this afternoon to see if we'd help her move. SAY WHAT?! No U-Haul, almost no boxes packed, and she was also in a 1 bedroom apartment. No one seems to be taking charge in this situation, she is so overwhelmed that she claims she is not going to make any decisions, so it's all up to Mike and I to get her moved. Hmm... Does this make sense? I'm still trying to wrap my head around it.
This entry turned out longer than expected. I will check up on all of you soon! Maybe not tomorrow because we still have to keep moving our friend but one of these days it will happen!!!

No way!
Sounds like a friend of mine who we helped move TWICE. Never again - she had NOTHING packed, either. We're talking house/condo here. She even had food in the fridge, a full waterbed, full washer and dryer - NOTHING NOTHING NOTHING done. Last time she moved, we refused to help. Served her right.
I hate helping people who can't get it together before you come help them! You always end up with a garbage back walking around the apartment throwing anything and everything in it! Last time we moved we decided that was NOT going to be us, so EVERYTHING was in a box. There was literally a huge stack of boxes waiting, the bed was already broken down and ready to haul out. It was beautiful, we moved completely out of our two bedroom apartment and into our new one in under 2 hours! And that included a tish tank and two cats! WOOHOO!
sorry you had to move your friend though... that's never fun (unless there's plenty of alcohol involved, lol)
Declutter. LOL!! Downsize before your next move chica!! Oh and that is just WRONG about the friend that wasn't prepared. IMHO the day you give your notice, you should start packing your Stuff!!

I don't envy you. I hate moving and it really suck to move and then turn right around and help someone else move!! I hope all goes well. Enjoy your new place!!
I see you're moving just like Brandi. I know that's not fun at all. As for too much stuff, I ended up throwing things away instead of moving them. Sometimes you find things that you haven't used in months and I would be like why am I keeping this? GCQMom is right about decluttering. It will make your next move a lot easier and quicker. I'm sorry you got stuck with a friend who didn't lift a finger to pack. I don't think that's right. It's very rude and being lazy. I always try to get everything pack up before people come to help me move boxes out of the apartment. Then I order pizza and drinks to thank them for their time. I hope you enjoy your new place and get settled in soon. Also the idea of putting single serving ice cream in ziploc bags is a great idea. I have these small tupperwares in my cabinets that I can divide the ice creams. Thanks for sharing that. Have a great day!
Your friend and your fiance sound like my boyfriend. LOL When we bought our house, Dave was packing the day we moved. I, on the other hand, had been packed for a while. I had everything but the necessities on moving day. It was a pain in the rear, considering we didn't have the freakin' U-Haul loaded up until after dark that day.
Well, I wish you good luck with the school year. It's a new school, so I'm sure you're a little more nervous than usual. I am also nervous, because I realized that it's a little more than two weeks before I'm in the classroom, as a student and as a teacher!
I hope the wedding plans are going smoothly. I'm sure that's got to be nerve-wracking. I've had a huge sting of weddings to go to this summer, the last one on Sunday. My best friend is also planning on getting married soon, but she just found out she's PG...so they're going to wait until after the baby's born...I"m sure planning a wedding is extremely stressful, but with things like a new job and a new baby on the way...I can only imagine!
I know how horrible it is moving. Last year I had to downsize from a 3 bed apt to a 1 bed. It was chaos. I was totally disorganised and only managed to get through it with some great friends helping me. Annoying as the situation was for you, I imagine your friend is truely grateful. And just think how many extra calories your burned!!!
