I need an opinion on something. I have pretty much already made my decision but I want to know if you disagree with me doing this.
I was honestly hoping that I would have the energy today but I have less than I did yesterday. It's killing me, I don't know what is wrong. I am worried that I could be getting sick.
My choice is to just stop exercising until I get back from vacation, rest up and relax. Take a breather. I'm making this sound really good, aren't I?
At the same time that would mean two weeks of not meeting the challenge I'm in, no 15 AP's a week.
Also my stomach has been a problem over the past couple days. I have been overly hungry, far more than usual even though I eat the same amount of foods every day. I use my flex points but it's like I can't get enough. It doesn't help that there isn't an ounce of energy left in my body.
What do you think? Take a break for 6-7 days and then get right back on track? I've never done that before in the history of the changes I've made in my life so this is why I want thoughts and opinions.

Hard One
This is a hard one. I would say to get in some sort of activity even if it's not your normal workout. I try talking myself out of working out all the time when I'm really tired or just don't feel good. Sometimes I give in and sometimes I'm able to get my butt up and going. I always feel better afterwards when I do. Then there's no guilt for not doing. I'm sure you will be fine though whichever you chose. Have fun on your vacation!
Where are you at in TOM/PMS cycle? Are you eating too many carbs? Those burn through me faster and fuel the hungries also. Water? Maybe a visit in to the doctor to be sure nothing is amiss before vacation? I don't know how much not exercising for 2 weeks will set you back, but you certainly do need to listen to the bod and rest up lots! Nothing would be worse IMHO than getting to Cali and dropping from exhaustion into the hotel room for the whole time and not seeing the sights. ;-)
Even if you don't completely stop working out, I think it sounds like a shake up is in order. Take a walk, do some light yoga or something. If you are getting sick you need to rest, esp since you don't want to be sick on vacation.
Not meeting your goals suck, but life happens and you need to take care of you! I know when I take a break from working out I always miss it and am thankful for it when I get back to it.
A break is a good thing after long periods of constantly working out
I was a work-out addict when I was in college and prior to my ten year hiatus from exercise and scheduling a week off every few months was a great rest for my body. I worked out about 4 hours a day in college and for a short time afterwards and the time off every few months does a lot towards allowing your body to recover for a new challenge. I would hit plateaus from working out and every few months I would take a week off to just let my body relax and rejuvenate itself. I hope that all you are experiencing is a little burnout and from the short time I have read your blog it looks like you have been driving yourself pretty hard for over a year. I would get a checkup and relax for a week. I know I really appreciated the breaks when I was a fitness fanatic.Just monitor your eating and stay positive so you can get back into your routine after your vacation. The workouts can wait for one week.(I am not a certified fitness expert…..I just play one on the internet)
1) Listen to your bod. If you need to rest, then rest.
2) If you don't need rest, maybe switch it up a little. Go for a 20-30 minute walk instead of run/aerobics. You'll probably find it invigorating but not exhausting.
3) Get hydrated. Have you been keeping up with your H2O? If not, it could account for your malaise. It can also help stave off some sicky-ness.
I think if you having burnout or just needing to rest you should. I would either just not worry about it at all or do like me and just get so many steps in a day. Just think how many steps you will be getting at Disney Land.. :-)
TAke the full 6-7 day break from working and eat whatever you want during that period. When you go back to working out and eating on your stricter regimine, your body will get a shock and good things will happen. I know from experience.
I think you should compromise in the middle.....take a break but not stopping everything. Maybe before bed each night you can do some light exercise, stretching, jumping jacks, sit-ups...that type of thing and cut out the heavy cardio for a while. That's what I do when I'm feeling burned out. That way you're still getting in something and you won't be completely out of the routine of exercising. Enjoy the vacay!!
You deserve it. It is better to make a goal of taking a break then be in denial about it and just let the exercise decrease. If you set yourself a goal to take a break and begin with a new start date, then i am sure you will be fine. Don't worry, all of us will be checking to see if you get back at it. It is time to take a vacation and that also means a change of routine. i am sure that your time in Disneyland will also work out to activity points from all the walking. I hope that you have a great vacation and say Hi to Mickey for me. lol.
