WHY????

Why, why, why is it that children decide not to tell you they are in pain and sick until the middle of the night?

Spent last night in the E.R. with my 8 year old who decided LATE last night to tell me that her side hurts and it hurts when she pee's.  Normally, if she wasn't in a lot of pain I would have waited until morning to take her to her regular doctor, but since she just got over a kidney infection a couple of months ago we called the on-call Dr. and she said she wanted her to be brought to the E.R. to get it all checked out.  Yep, kidney infection is back.  So I'm home from work today so we can both get some sleep.

I have decided one thing...my attitued needs to change about weight loss.  I need to be more positive and not look at dieting and exercise as a bad thing.  I need to think of it as good...good at getting my health back where it should be, good at giving me more energy, good at prolonging my life so I can be around for my kids, good for my sex life.  GOOD!!!

Today is a new day, I'm home from work and I can plan what I'm going to do with my new attitude.

I WILL DO THIS!  2007 is my year to get healthy, happy and get my life back.

Keep it positive!

Thanks for your encouragement so now I'll encourage you.  Don't approach the weight loss as a difficult challenge, just make it fun and it will be easy.  I started with exercising with things I enjoy doing and by challenging myself to just do more of it.  I enjoy baseball so I go to the batting cages a few times a week and wail away at the balls and I have been working up a good sweat.  I also enjoy riding my bike and fortunately I live within a couple of miles of my office so I ride to work in the morning and home at lunch.  The challenge has been dealing with the winter weather in Houston which is mostly rain.  Stay positive and look for the benefits even if you don't meet your goals for a weigh in.  I was at a football game this weekend and I didn't expect to lose much but I just made sure I rode my bike and went to the cages with my son and wow I lost some weight.  I am happier to just make the weight loss routine a game and see if I can win.  I like winning and even if I lose a few games I know if I keep playing I'll win the match.  I'll keep an eye on your blog and help with words of encouragement.  I know I'll need them if I stumble.
