Going LOWER Than 800 Cals.

Hi all,

I was thinking of doing a week long water fast. Well, almost fast, because my family wants me to eat dinner with them and so I have to.  Other than that it's just lots of water (but not too much)  What do the rest of you think about that?

Bad Idea

That is a horrible idea. If you do not get at least 1200 calories a day, your body will drop it's metabolism, so when you do eat again (and you will have to) it will retain more of what you eat and burn less.

Beyond that, your body will start choosing to burn muscle instead of fat because calories are not coming in. 

This will create a temporary weight loss that will immediately come back when you eat.

Better to eat a few healthy small meals each day to get at least 1200 calories. Choose lean meats and vegetables.  Avoid too many fats, starches, or sugary foods.

Where would you ever get the idea that this type of diet would work or be helpful?

Btw, am I reading your goal weight correctly?  You're 5'4" and you want to weigh 90 lbs??? That's an insane goal. I hope it's a typo. If it's not a typo, I highly recommend that you seek counseling. I don't say that as an insult, I say it as a concerned person who suffered an eating disorder.
