Before After

Smokey Florida

It's very smokey here in the air with over 200 fires we had in 4 different counties. We even had a bush fire near the airport which is not far from my home. The air is extremely dry here with only 20% humidity which is very unusual. I'm just getting a bad feeling about Florida this year with the drought and hurricane season. We got lucky last year with no major hurricanes. Also I have allergies now which is making me sleepy and I woke up with a dry throat. Hope this dry weather will pass by soon.

I did my workout on the elliptical machine yesterday for 30 minutes. I tried to run on the treadmill afterwards but I was too exhausted to do anymore exercise. I walked for 5 minutes and ran only for 4 minutes. I had enough after that. I was thinking to myself yesterday that I need to do some weightlifting to tone up my muscles again. I find weightlifting very boring but I know it benefits me a lot. I was really in good shape in high school from weightlifting in gym class.

While I was on the elliptical machine, I saw this woman walked in and hopped on the treadmill. I was watching her because I like how fit she looked. Her arms were toned and muscles but not too much like a man or anything like that. Her stomach was flat and her legs were strong. I was curious how fast she run and how long. So I was behind her and she ran at 6 mph for 30 minutes. She had very good body form while she was running and didn't even look out of breath. I looked at the other women and I can see some of them slouching down or pounding their feet down really hard, but not her. I thought to myself, that's the body I want someday. Fit and atheletic. I didn't want to be a skinny person, just fit and well toned. That's my goal. I hope I can run at 6mph for 30 minutes like her one day.

As I was leaving the Y, I saw her walking to the car with her daughter. Ah, so it's possible to look good after having kids. Just seeing her really motivated me to continue working out and hope I get the results I dream of.

Proper Form

Good morning!  I'm sorry to hear about the fires in your area.  It must be really hard to spend time outdoors.

I read with interest about the fit girl - you mentioned her form.  That is another benefit of weight lifting.  When you practice proper form (belly in, tummy tucked, shoulders back), you get so used to standing (or sitting) that way that you practice it without thinking.  I'm sure that if you gradually started a program, you would experience the same benefits.  When I ran this morning, I was careful to keep my belly in and butt tucked - that way I was less winded (plus it kept my mind off the timer).

I'm sure that once you start adding weights to your program, people will soon be looking at YOU the same way!

Have a wonderful day!

Fit

That's cool about finding a "role model".  You are well on your way.

As far as form when running, I know I have TERRIBLE form.  I'm very hard on my feet.  But, I am working to be lighter, just like you are.  (I was heavy on my feet even when I was thin.)

I love the feeling of strength, but hate strength training as well.  I feel like I do all the moves wrong.  But I know it all comes with practice, however, I don't think I will EVER do squats right.  LOL!  Squats are EVIL!

You are doing so well and you've already come so far!  Keep it up!

FIT!!

You and I are alike.  I want to be fit also....not buff....just fit and trim. :)

We can get there!!

Weights
