I'm so happy to be back to my healthy home. 12 days of horrible eating and I'm just sick of it. So I decided to face it by standing on the scale this morning and it said 4 lbs gained. Ugh! But I will work hard to lose them.
I've learned a lot about my family and their eating habits. I observed them and figured out ways why they are the way they are. The biggest problem with my family is they love to eat red meat. They eat red meat at lunch and dinner almost everyday. I thought to myself, no wonder why they kept gaining so much weight and having health problems. Then they kept buying cakes, cookies, and candies to keep around the house. I don't keep any of them except for one box of organic cookies for my daughter to have a treat once a day. Sometimes I have one too.
Another thing I noticed with my family is denial. My grandmother is the biggest denial of all. She needs to have her appendix remove and she won't go to the doctor for an operation. She's always in denial about her healthy problems and wait until the last minute to get help. I don't think that is a good idea but that's what she does. Then I noticed my mother and aunts are the same way. They denied that they are eating bad food and just getting fat because they're older in their 50's now.
I believe that it's never too late to be healthy again. The body can be very forgiving and start healing the damage you've done. It's all about the power of knowledge and the commitments you're willing to change your lifestyle to be healthy. I'm so thankful that my husband is very committed to eat healthy. I learned a lot from him and researching on the internet and news about health. I also learned from many of you here on EP.
I'm so glad to be back and now it's time for me to go say hello to everyone!

Glad you're back
It's good to hear from you again! Welcome back. I'm glad you faced the scale. Now you know what you have to deal with.
As for bad habits in the family, I know EXACTLY what you're talking about. I was always afraid I'd end up like my Mom's sisters - all absolutely HUGE. We got together for a baby shower in Guelph last year, and you should have seen how they EAT! Thank goodness we were only there for a weekend, because my stomach was very upset after eating so much crap.
I'm glad you're back! Hopefully things can start going a lot healthier for you. You aren't in denial and that's the important thing. Don't worry about the gain. You know it's going to come off now that you're back on track. You can do it!
Glad you had a good time - don't feel bad about the gain, you will get it off in no time.
It's so true about the family eating habits. When I was younger I had a great metabolism (and was always on the go) and ate anything I wanted. I wasn't skinny but was just right. Well, it caught up to me and though I'm 37 now, I feel the same way. It's never too late to change your thinking as well as your diet. It's true that the more we educate ourselves on what "healthy" is, the more better choices we make.
You've done so great - be proud of those great choices!!!
I am also thankful for becoming educated. I'm sorry that you had a 4 pound gain but you will take it off in no time. I hope your aunt is ok with the appendix thing. Can't you die if you don't get it removed asap?
I was also surprised to hear that size 0 could ever be popular. I honestly don't think it's common, I just think it the store I was in. Maybe a lot of smaller people shop at Express. I sure don't see very many people walking around that look like a size 0.
Yep, denial is the biggest problem of lots of us... once we admit we have a problem, we can start changing it. Don't sweat the gain, you will get that off quickly I am sure. Probably water weight or something.
