Wts. today

Today I worked out because I already had my 2 days off.

I did my weight work out today.  Something keeps nagging at the back of my mind.  I read what Jillian said about working out.  She said its better to do wts. 4 times a week and then do cardio.  I have been trying to come up with a plan to do it that way but when it comes to finding different things to do I get stumped.  I thought you couldn't work out with weights everyday.  Doesn't the body need to rest?  Does that mean when you lifting heavy wts, which I'm not.  The heaviest I lift is 10 lbs.  Can I do the same work out everyday?  I'm thinking I might give it a try.  Never done that before.  Seems like I've been going around in circles for so long, maybe it's worth a try.

Does anyone have any ideas?  Please let me know what you think.

split it up

Regardless of how much weight you move, your muscles need 2-3 days of rest after a weights session, because it's the rebuilding that actually makes you stronger.  But rather than spending an hour or more doing EVERY body part in one session, split it up - upper body one day, lower body the next, day off, upper, lower, two days off...or arms, back, chest, legs all on different days...you can split it up any way that works for you, so long as you're giving each major muscle group at least 48 hours to recover before stressing it again.  HTH!

The post above kind of said it all, but you're simply not supposed to train the same part 2 days in a row.  For example, since you weight 4 days a week, train your upper body 2 days, and lower body 2 days.  You CAN train abs everyday though.  No one is sure why, but abs are the one muscle that recovers fast enough to train everyday. 

As for the weights you're lifting, why aren't you lifting heavier weights?  More muscle=more calories burned.
