I ran today!

It's been at least a couple of months since I've done any running. Sure, I'll do my TurboJam workouts at home most days of the week - when I'm not sick that is, but running is a different beast all together. 
Anyhow, I finally felt better today with only minimal amounts of sniffling and coughing and sneezing, so I thought to myself as I drove home "Man, I could really use a good run." The weather is perfect, clear and sunny but not too hot actually nice and crisp (for California) So I get home put on my running gear and off I go. 
I ran for 3.5 miles! I just kept going! True, there were times where I felt like my lungs would burst open like party poppers but it didn't happen. I finished the run in 45 mins. Yep, so awesome, I'm even in the middle of TOM(feeling so bloated earlier but not anymore). Not too shabby for the first time back in the running game. Needless to say I am quite proud of myself right now. 
I did alright in the eating department too. Not too much snacking and mostly lean protein with my favorite veggie - ASPARAGUS! I'm addicted to those beautiful and delicious green spears! Who love asparagus?! I do, I do!

I Think I've Caught a Cold

Ugh, I feel awful today. Bad enough to want to whine about it on here. I woke up with my throaght feeling hot and prickly and my nose completely stuffy. I've been sneezing all day and my neck feels totally stiff.
I'm probably going to skip my workout today and just be very careful with my diet. I must have caught what Nick had last week, eew. Just in time for Super Bowl! Yay for me!
If I wake up feeling weird tomorrow I'm definitely going to see my Dr.

Blasted Through Monday

Oh yeah! I went grocery shopping after work and as soon as I got home and finished unpacking the groceries I put my sports bra on and I got my workout on! Then I fixed myself a lean beef stir fry. Breakfast and lunch weren't very well thought out so I ended up eating an Egg McMuffin and a coffee for b-fast and beans and bread at my Mom's house for lunch. Oh well, you win some you lose some. 

Yesterday I ended up loafing around the house the entire day - surfing the net and watching t.v. I even ordered a delicious thin crust pizza all for myself. To my chagrin and delight I only ate 1/2 of the thing and left the rest for Nick. Needless to say, after the wedding on Saturday and the lazy fat Sunday I gained 1.8 lbs. but I'm sure I'll lose that this week - until the weekend. 
We are hosting our first ever Super Bowl Sunday at our house! I would lie and say that I'm going to have healthy snacks but it's pointless I well know that I'm gonna go all out with Pizza, Beer, Chips, Dips, and Sweets. Not that I'm going to eat all of that, maybe just a little.

It's the week end again

Weekends are so not my forte. However, this weekend hasn't been a complete wash just yet. Today is Sunday and I plan to clean the house do some laundry and little grocery shopping. 

Yesterday I went to the wedding of the year! OK, it's only January, but really it was such a blast! It was a Korean/American wedding and therefore the food was excellent! It was all delicious Korean fare and I was super proud of myself because I limited myself to only one normal sized plate (everyone else was piling plates high and getting seconds, even thirds - thats how tasty the food was) 
After the meal they played slideshows and videos then they had the bridesmaids play them a couple of songs as a band. The finale was that me & my band played a super fun show - we had everyone dancing and jumping and singing! Never played a show like that before - so exciting!
We danced the rest of the night and then took it all over to BJ's Brewery with the Bride & Groom and close friends - yeah I did have 2 beers but I didn't eat much, just picked at a couple of nachos that had been ordered as appetizers. 

I did eat a piece of cake too! It was light and fluffy and not too sweet Sometimes you gotta eat cake!

Great Day!

Today I have done exceptionally well! I ate healthy the entire day AND I worked out too! Yippee! I ate a scrambled egg with mushrooms and a small slice of swiss cheese, snack was a little bit of deli turkey, lunch was a salad and fajitas, dinner was grilled zucchini and mushrooms with half an avocado. I drank more water than I have in the past few days too. All in all I am quite pleased with myself! 


The new T.V. is so big - it's taking some getting used to for my workout video. I know - what a lame thing to complain about but really it kind of gives me a headache. I'm sure I'll get used to it though :) 

Work was pretty grueling and I sooo didn't want to work out again but I'm not going to let bad traffic and a tough day at work get in the way of my goals. I mean really, if I allow that to happen it's as though I'm punishing myself for having a bad day - so not gonna happen! 

Alright! I'm off to bed - I think Nick is getting better because he looks like a normal color again and his voice sounds better too. 

Tuesday Tuesday

Tuesday has been good in the eating realm - had lunch with Nick but chose a healthy place this time. We had greek food, i had a chicken salad and man was it tasty! breakfast was good too - a scrambled egg and green beans, yum! I LOVE green beans they are so delicious and have great texture. Dinner was chicken fajitas without the tortillas. 

Unfortunately and fortunately we bought a new TV - our old one is over 10 yrs old had a tiny screen and was a cube that took up way too much space plus it had to have a converter box and all that. Anyhow, we bought an awesome new one but that means I haven't been able to do my workout videos since Nick is still drilling holes in the wall trying to mount the thing. 

Fine by me though, I feel exhausted today, I'm literally falling asleep and it's only 7:30! I haven't been able to get much sleep lately because Nick has been sick and coughing all night for several nights in a row and I have to get up at 6:30. He finally went to the doctor yesterday and had to get on antibiotics and prescription cough syrup. I hope he gets better and I hope I finally get to sleep tonight. 

Mondays are the best and the worst!

Needless to say I bombed the weekend. Oh well, too bad. Today is Monday and that means a clean slate - again! :) Anyhow I ate extremely well today but need to up my water consumption. I had a scrambled egg for breakfast, lean turkey & cheese stick for snack, lunch was a chicken salad no dressing, dinner was lean steak fajitas and evening snack was 1/2 C of low fat cottage cheese and steamed green beans. I also worked out! So yes, there is redemption for me tonight. It feels great! I soooo didn't want to work out after work today but I forced myself and am glad I did - nothing beats the feeling of accomplishment I feel right now.

Ah, Saturday Mornings...

Well...sadly yesterday was a complete disaster. It all started when I forgot my lunch at home on the counter in the kitchen. So I didn't have anything to eat that was healthy at lunch. Here were my meals: b-fast was 1 egg & 1 toast, snack was my usual 2 cups of coffee and 1/2 sesame bagel with lots of "light" cream cheese AND a piece of cuban pastry. My dad took me out for lunch and I had a Veggie Wrap with fried potatoes - yep FRIED. After work I had to go to go to my little sisters comedy improv show - after the show we had more cuban pastries and a decaf coffee. Of course I wasn't satisfied with that for dinner so I had 1/2 a chicken bake with avocado at my mom's house. ALL that and I didn't even get a chance to work out. Oh well. Sometimes life with all it's glorious food happens.

Today is a new day and I have started out with coffee and 2 mini bagels with jam & cream cheese. My Nick is home sick and is guilting me to stay with him. I am hoping to get at least a workout in and also eat somewhat healthy. Man! No way can I get bogged down with feeling like I can't meet my goal. Yeah, some days are going to be "off" but that doesn't mean I just get to shrug my shoulders and decide not to continue. Instead of berating myself for ingrained behavior I will focus on accepting myself and then trying to be the best version I can be. That means that today I WILL make healthy choices and yes, even squeeze in a workout.

One More Under My Belt

I had forgotten how exhilarating and rewarding working out and eating right feels. Completely different from the bloated and guilty feeling of eating out and badly. 

Today's Menu: B-Fast was 1 egg on 1 toast. I did drink 2 cups of coffee - I'm just gonna say right now that I will have my 2 cups of coffee every morning and I am not going to give it up, it's just not gonna happen. Snack: 1 small pear and a snack pack that I bought at the store it was 190 cal and consisted of cheese, pretzels, carrot sticks, and a few grapes. Lunch: stir fry veggies with chicken (leftovers) 2 oranges Snack: small granola bar 190 cal. Dinner: Brown Rice Pasta with lean meat sauce and vegetables. Wow - it seems like I ate a lot. It didn't really feel like it but I'm not on a starvation diet so we will see how this pans out.

I did my workout too! As soon as I got home I put on my gear and worked out for 50 minutes - I did the Turbo Jam Cardio Party and felt great during the entire thing. I mean I did sweat and get red in the face but I didn't feel like I was going to die, I tend to push myself too hard sometimes and then I feel like I'm going to puke or even get massive cramps in my abdomen. But not today! 

I weighed myself and the scale read 182.6 - we'll see if that sticks. - Yes, I'm weighing myself daily because it keeps me accountable. The numbers are real deterrents for over eating and making bad choices for me.

Tomorrow I will do it all over again - and it's FRIDAY! YAY!

Did I Keep My Promise?

Oh yeah!! Today I ate extremely well:

B-Fast was 1 Egg & 1 Toast, Morning Snack: Fruit & Yogurt, Lunch: Small Chicken Salad & Orange Slices, Dinner: Stir Fry Veggies & Chicken. I didn't drink as much water as I should have and I had 2 cups of coffee. But all in all I am very happy with my eating today.

I also worked out after work despite the fact that I had to pick up dinner for my sick hubby and deal with lots of traffic. I did a 50 minute Turbo Jam workout - Punch, Kick & Jam. Also, I weighed myself this morning and I am pleased to report that in fact I weigh 184.4 NOT 187 - so I'm going to adjust my trackers.

Tomorrow I will do the same thing even though N will be at home again sick. I will have to banish him to the office while I do my workout in the living room.

The key is to get into my workout out clothes as soon as possible and then just pop in the DVD. Don't give yourself a chance to think too much about it - just do it!
