The Saga of the Treadmill, continued
So the part for our treadmill arrived, the appointment to have it fixed was scheduled and today was the day. I was excited. I was giddy, I was looking forward to exercising again, I was disappointed. The frame on the treadmill is not aligned between the motor and front roller.so the drive belt will not go on properly so now we have to get a whole new treadmill. So load this one back in the truck, go to the store, argue with the people, argue some more and get mad and argue...and who knows when I'll get to exercise again.
Going to catch up on some of your blogs now. Have a great weekend everyone!

Out of the Mouths of Babes
So yesterday one of my kindergatners said, "Mrs. K. why do you always wear the same pants everyday?" and I replied very honestly, "Well, they are the only ones that fit." and the little darling says "You sound just like my mom." LOL : ) Good news! The part for my treadmill came today! DH has the day off on Thursday so he can be here to let the technician in. YEA!!
This is a special shout out to Ande-- there is nothing, NOT ONE THING wrong with Coke or chocolate as long as you drink and eat in moderation which I have not been doing. Six Cokes in one day is a lot too many!

My Scale Is A Liar
No healthy eating this week--three Cokes on Tuesday and Wednesday, four yesterday and today. Many, many, many pieces of Dove milk chocolate, Cheez-Its, 5 100 Calorie packs of cereal snacks from the teacher's lounge, and Chinese food. YUM!! Treadmill is still broken but my scale, the liar, says I weigh 174 lbs. I did record it with the knowledge I may have to put in my REAL weight after next weigh in. Maybe its broken like the treadmill?!

Treadmill, Hoops and Queen Latifah
So I spent only twenty minutes on hold this morning before talking to a real person at UTS the company who holds the service contract on my treadmill only to be transferred back to Nordictrack. Got the part we need ordered and then the person asked for a phone number besides our home number so the technician (repair person) could call to make an appt. Now DH is a truck driver and I am a school teacher so we really can't take calls at work. The girl had already told me that the part would be here in 5-7 business days and then said the technician would call in 3-5 days to schedule the appt. so I say can't you give me the technicians number and I'll call him when the part comes. Makes sense right? But not to Nordictrack so now I have to hope the technician leaves a message with a number.
Now to the hoops portion of this blog. In the paper this morning there was an article about using a (hula) hoop to strengthen the core muscles. Has anyone else out there in EP land heard of this? The article said that in the classes they use specially weighted hoops that are a little larger for adults. Years ago I read that one of the models for Hawaiian Tropic used a hoop to keep her ads strong. If any of you know anything about this please let me know because I have never, ever, ever learned to do a crunch correctly besides I HATE them.
And now to the Queen Latifah portion. Apparently she is starting Jenny Craig. I don't know why but I am a little surprised which is stupid because I am sure that she wants to be healthy just like everyone and knows the complications of being overweight.
Lost 1 lb. and am now at an even 176. Good for me!!

Still Here
Yes, Kate 1619 is still here and determined to lose the weight. I have not had much time to visit EP Land lately. I have neither gained nor lost any weight since my last post which really surrpises me because I have not been exercising and making some bad food choices. Not exercising because our treadmill broke. Yes, believe it or not, the treadmill that was purchased on December 18th has broken already. I spent 45 minutes on hold one day trying to make an appointment for someone to come fix it. Of course it took a phone call to Sears to find out that they don't service Nordictrack treadmills. So I call Nordictrack and find out that I have to call the company that holds the service contract to get someone who can fix the treadmill to come to my house and fix it. I spent 45 minutes on hold only to have a recorded voice come on the phone and tell me that their office hours are now over and please call back tomorrow. UGH!! I am really, really frustrated! Off work tomorrow so I will try again!
So that explains the lack of exercise but the bad food choices are all me. I was doing really well only drinking two sodas a day and then yesterday I drank four !! That was really silly but today I have only had two. My mom said that after having four yesterday I shouldn't drink any today but I am not going to punish myself for a little slip. Also I have fallen off the one piece of chocolate a day wagon too. I was allowing myself one Dove chocolate a day and then you know it turned into two, and then four. Well I bought a new bag the other day and looked at the calories and OMG!! There are twenty calories in one little, teeny, tiny, itty, bitty heart shaped Dove chocolate! They are YUMMY but not that yummy so I am back to just one a day.
Another LaBrea Tar pit in my life are birthdays. Not family birthdays because we don't really do alot for those but at school every kid who has a birthday brings treats and it isn't just the kids in my class but the kids in other grades as well. Now don't get me wrong I think it is wonderful that the kids bring enough to share with all the teachers but why does it always have to be Krispy Kreme donuts?!? I always take what is offered because it can be a disappoinment to the birthday child if you say no. I do not eat all of them but I also don't like to throw food away. Sometimes I bring it home to DH or put it in the teacher's lounge. Most of the time it's gone before the end of the day--teachers are hungry people.
Wishing everyone good luck with their weight loss goals and a great week!

Disappointed
Yay for me! I have the whole day to myself! My DH (aka BK) is at work doing inventory. He works at a lumber yard --can you imagine counting every nail, screw and nut?
We also have a farm and raise corn, soy beans and wheat and have about 20 cows which we raise for beef. The very funny part is that we don't eat our own beef--we always get beef from the lumberyard. Long boring story!
Anyway am watching the Today show and they just had a segment on losing weight in the new year and guess what?!? Their expert says you have to make a commitment to a healthier lifestyle, control your portions and exercise for 30 minutes everyday! Easy to say, easy to hear, difficult to do!
As for the title of this post, I am disappointed because my sciatic or hamstring or something is out of whack and I am not able to do the weight loss workout on my treadmill anymore. So I am boringly having to walk at 2mph with no incline so my body can adjust to exercising. It is my own fault, I went from hardly any pysical acitvity to walking btw. 2mph and 3.5mph with a 3% to 6% incline. WHAT WAS I THINKING? One thing I have to do today is make a plan to slowly build up to the weight loss workout. So that is what I'm off to do!

Little Loss, Lots of Pain
I didn't post yesterday because I got so engrossed reading other people's blogs--fell asleep in chair with head resting on laptop. So I have lost 1lb. and treadmill is getting easier but am so dizzy today so didn't feel like walking. Portion control still going strong--not going back for seconds and since I had bread at lunch didn't at dinner but ate two pieces of pumkin pie
Only two cokes again today so that is going well. My mom is staying with BK and I and suggested if I drank one I might feel better. In old days would have jumped on this "permission" to break food plan with both feet. Must be growing up or really, really want to lose this weight. Also not getting on treadmill because the sciatic nerve on my right side is killing me! It hurts in my rear and then the whole rest of my leg is numb. Will walking help work out the kinks or make it worse? Taking Advil Liguid Gels like their candy but couldn't lay flat and sleep without it. Hope all is well with everyone. Stay strong and committed!!

Still Going Strong
Only drank two sodas today. Really, really, really wanted another one but ate an apple instead
! Treadmill is getting easier-- didn't yell at it last night and didn't want to get off until there was only seven minutes left and then what was the point? Worried about next week when I go back to work though because now I have time to think about portion sizes, cooking healthy, and not eating junk. But when I have papers to grade, lesson plans to write, parents to call, meetings etc. what then? I read somewhere that it takes a month for a new routine, way of life to become habit. YIKES! Good luck to me and all of you in the New Year!

Yesterday Was A Good Day
Okay, I am proud of the good choices I made yesterday. Only drank two Cokes and avoided having too many candies, cookies, fudge, cakes etc. My body was a little confused because I was drinking water which is not usually a daily (or even weekly) occurrence. I am trying the replace the three C's of my old diet--Coke, Cheez-Its and chocolate with W, F, P--water, fiber and smaller portions.
Also spent 30 minutes on the tread mill. I admit that at one point I told the treadmill I thought it was trying to kill me. My husband bought a NordicTrack C2155 treadmill for Christmas and I love it! It has gas assist incline and a fan and all kinds of cool features. The best is the weight loss setting where you push the button and the treadmill gives you this great workout with speed and incline changes automatically. But seriously the thing was trying to kill me because I got to just 5minutes left and not only did it speed up but the incline went from 3% to 5%. Everyone knows the last five minutes of a workout is the cool down! Noooooo! the treadmill only gives you a three minute cool down. I asked for the treadmill. And now I know, I mean REALLY know what they mean when they say be careful what you ask for!

HELP
I am a little confused and frustrated with EP and I'm really new to the site so maybe one of you can help me. According to my weight loss graph my starting weight was 392 lbs. WRONG! I weigh 182 lbs. That is my starting weight. I would like to know how I can change this to reflect the true state of things because the graph makes it look like I've done all this hard work and really I've only just begun. Please comment if you can help. kate1616
