Summertime
I'm so happy it's summer... I really do enjoy it the most. I love swimming, and being able to get out to run daily. Though I do have to run early, before it hits 90, I'd rather do that anyway, and be done with my workout, than have to wait til 2pm to run when it warms up in winter.
I'm headed to the podiatrist on Tuesday, to find out what the heck is wrong with my left foot, and what to do about it. I'm pretty sure it's a pinched nerve, and probably need to get orthotics made. I'd rather have a quicker fix, but we'll see what they suggest.
In the meantime, I'm going to hit the pool tomorrow, and get in tons of swimming, as it's non-load bearing, and shouldn't hurt my foot. :)
Happy Summer!

More Adventures
Had a great day! I toured DC with the hubby and his son, racking up 9 miles on my pedometer. We checked out 6 memorials/monuments, and had a blast! It was one of those rare spring days that it's just great to be outside, enjoying life!
My feet ache, but it was worth it!!! And I should sleep well tonight. :)

Adventures
Well, I'm back from my LA trip! I had a great time, even though the classes were 9 hours long, and mentally exhausting. I was taking a cram course for the CA baby bar exam, which is in 6 weeks. On average, only 21% of those taking it pass, so I will be spending the next 6 weeks doing 'boot camp' to prepare.
On the fun side, I loved LA. I got to see my best friend from high school, and I ran on the beach. My class was not near the beach, but as soon as I landed at LAX, I raced to the beach in my little rental car and ran in the sand. :)
Every morning, before class, I woke up early and ran a few miles along a bike path on the state university campus. It was next to the arboretum, so I got to see some beautiful scenery. What a great way to start the day!
Now that I'm home, I just need to keep up the momentum, so I can start each study day off right!

Battlefield
We took the dogs for a walk in the Antietam Battlefield today. It was great exercise, and fun to be outdoors, but also humbling. When I stood in the middle of a cornfield, I realized that the rolling hills around me was the site of the bloodiest battle in US military history.
How quickly all of my little problems seemed tiny, in comparison to the lives lost in just two days on this battlefield.
Ok, back to my little problems. My foot is still bothering me, hoping it'll go away as I back off from running, but 3 days off hasn't helped. I'll get in to a doctor soon if it doesn't heal. I've had neuromas and stress fractures in the past, but I honestly can't tell which this is. Hmmm....

Another PR!
My legs felt like lead, but when my sister and I ran this morning, we beat our previous time on our usual route! Funny, but I felt sluggish. I'd love to be able to keep taking off 20 seconds each week, though I know that's not reasonable to expect.
The nice thing though, is it does inspire me to keep on moving!
Now, if the weight will just cooperate....

A Weighty Issue
Hello. I've been writing this blog for a while now, and I am sad to report that my weight is even higher than when I started.
I am SO frustrated! I ran 3 miles 3x this week, have watched what I've eaten, and my body just wants to continue this slow climb upward.
I am not giving up, just proclaiming that I'm not giving up without a fight. I know I'm not the only one with this issue, and that a lot of great people out there weigh more than I do, so I'll stop the whining. It could be worse.
I'm going to keep up with the exercise, lower my portions further, and flat out enjoy life!

A Gorgeous Day!
Because I tend to blog when I need to vent, I thought I'd post an entry with an upbeat nature.
It was gorgeous when we woke up, sunny and warm, so after breakfast, DH and I jumped on the Harleys and took off for West Virginia. It was about 120 miles round trip, not so far that it was too much for so early in the season, but enough that we didn't feel as though were riding in circles around the neighborhood.
Of course, we had to pay for playing hooky when we got home - had over an hour of yard work to do. But the lawn looks great, and we got to enjoy some beautiful scenery. It doesn't get much better than this!

Blisters!
The good news is that I bought new running shoes, and an identical pair of walking shoes.
The bad news, as I'm sure you can guess by the title of this blog entry, is that after only 4 miles of walking, I've got huge blisters on my pinkie toes. I bought the same brand I've always worn, but they'd stopped making my style, so I tried something similar.
So I'll take the running shoes back, and try a different brand. ugh. I really loved the old brand. Hopefully, they'll take the walking pair back as well, as I only put 8 miles on them in the mall. They look completely new.
Back to the drawing board!

3000!
My blog has had over 3000 views! How incredible is that?!?!?!
It's funny, but when I started writing, I figured nobody would ever see it. I guess I was wrong? lol Now, I have no idea if it's helped or influenced anyone, but it has been great for me to be able to write down my thoughts.
Of course, according to my weight tracker, I've gained weight. But I'm still running, walking and working out. I'm still eating the right foods, in moderate amounts. So I'm not letting the scale determine how well I'm doing in my quest for good health. I feel great, and will keep up my journey to fitness!
Thanks for 'listening'!

Life is a Bowl of Cherries
Or at least Cherry Blossoms! My hubby took the afternoon off, and we went downtown to see the cherry blossoms. My sister was able to join us, and we had a blast. It was a tad too crowded, but it was sunny, 80 degrees, so who can complain!
It was nice to be fit enough to jog across crosswalks, walk for hours, and still have energy at the end of the day. I'm going to have to keep up with this running thing!
Now, it's time to get back to the BowFlex. I love it, love how it makes me feel, but I never take the time to use the thing! Now that the puppy is old enough to be trusted for the 30 minutes, I have no excuse.
