Happy Wednesday
Hello all,
I actually meant to post last week but didn't get around to it. Well today is Day 3 for me on South Beach. I've been bombarding my sister Timothea1 with questions and I hope she doesn't mind (you don't, do you?). I just need to make sure I'm doing everything right. One thing I really need to work on is preparing my meals the night before.
I meant to do my weekly weigh in this morning. But a water main broke in my neighborhood and threw everything off. We had very little water pressure for about an hour (we used that time to fill the bathtub). After that, we had no water at all! I had to show the kids how to take baths in the sink. As for me, all I can say is, thank God for the fitness center showers at work!
Before I close, I guess I should say that I had a pretty good birthday last week. And I finally got the gift from my son yesterday.

I gained one pound. That's it. Tomorrow's my birthday so I'm not saying anything else.

No Change
But I'm not mad. At least I didn't gain anything. I think I'm going to switch to South Beach like my sister, Timothea 1, did. By the way, thanks for the occasional reminder messages. I need the occasional shove in the right direction.
I didn't make my goal to exercise more. However, I might be able to get in at least three days this week. Today, I'm going to do 30 min. cardio and 30 min. strength. Wish me luck.

I'm back...
Been gone for a couple of weeks. But I'm back now. No reason. I just didn't feel like facing the scale. Bottom line is...I'm down 1 pound from my last weigh in.
My goal last week was to stay away from the bagels at work and eat my oatmeal. My goal this week is to exercise at least 5 days. My birthday is coming up and I want to notice a change. Even a small change will help.

Trying to stay on track
I had a good week last week. I tried to work out at least 3 days last week and I succeeded. My reward? A two pound loss.
Of course I did my happy dance. Still doing it, in fact. My this week, in addition to working out at least 3 days a week, is to write down EVERYTHING I eat. That includes that little Milano cookie that I snuck from the kitchen this morning (I know, bad, bad). Another goal is to pack my lunch everyday except Friday. On Friday, we have our office lunch. I plan to be really good and make good choices when placing my lunch order. I'm looking forward to another 2 pound loss. It's time for me to make that scale go down again!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Hope everyone had a good one. I really didn't do anything. Stayed up long enough to drink champagne with hubby and kids (they had cider). Looked at the Biggest Loser Marathon on Bravo and got inspired all over again
. So inspired in fact, that I power walked around the lake twice (about 3 miles). I felt so good when I finished. Hopefully I can keep this momentum up. So come on y'all!! Bring on the motivation! A sista needs it

Improving...
I think my blues are the combination of my quitting smoking, trying to lose weight, and college alegbra. The good new is, I passed algebra. The great news is, I HAVEN'T HAD A CIGARETTE IN 103 DAYS. And I feel great! Now I need to tackle this weight issue. I think it's going to be a little easier now that I've jumped the first two hurdles.
Did everyone have a nice Christmas? Mine was great! I have the most considerate family! It's so much fun when we all get together. I know Christmas isn't about the gifts, but I have the greatest husband, kids, sisters, and parents! Now if only my brother would stop being such a moron.

The Blues
Can someone please tell me why I've had the blues since Thanksgiving. It's gotten so bad that last week I went back on my nightly junk food kick. I don't want to do that anymore.
What's encouraging however, is that I went to visit my aunt Saturday. No reason in particular. I was out Christmas Shopping and decided to stop by. Anyway, she has lost a TON of weight. I mean she is so tiny. Before I congratulated her, I had to make sure she wasn't ill. She just decided to change her eating habits and walks (10,000 steps) daily. I wanna be like her when I grow up!
So someone please, please tell me how to stay motivated when I feel so down. It's supposed to be nice today, so I think I'll walk to DuPont Circle or the Washington Monument or something. Maybe that will lift my spirits some.

235 Here I come!
Let's see....I gained 1 pound last week. It probably should have been more than that considering how I ate during Thanksgiving. You know, I felt really good when I weigh myself this morning. I'm at 236. So even though I gained 1 last week, I LOST 2 pounds THIS WEEK!! 
I also took advantage of the nice weather last week and did a lot of walking. I even walked around the Washington Monument for the first time. I've lived in the DC area all my life and have never, ever, been to the Monument. It's cold here now, but I'm going to try and get there again this week at least once.

Down another 2 pounds...I think
Good Morning Losers!
I think I need a new scale. This morning I got on the scale and it read 239. Then when I tried again, it read 237. Of course I tried a couple more times and it fluctuated between 237 and 239. So I decided to go with 237 since that's what the scale read the most. Now does that make sense to anyone?
I've been doing pretty well with staying OP. I'm concentrating on making better food choices. I'm also making myself get up every morning to do the Walk Away the Pounds Miracle Mile.
But that's not even the best part. The best part is......I'VE BEEN SMOKE FREE FOR 67 DAYS today. Quitnet.com says I've saved $251.25. Funny thing is, I can't find what I did with it. Now, even though I get the urge to smoke, I don't miss smoking at all. For any of you out there who are trying to quit, just do it. I couldn't set a quit date like it was suggested to me. I just decided one day when I went to CVS for a pack of cigarettes, to buy the Nicorette gum instead.
I forgot to post my BL weight yesterday, but I posted it this morning. Sorry. Yesterday was Hubby's birthday and I was all caught up in the festivities.
So as you can see, so far it's been a good week for me and it s only Tuesday. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
