My Photos

Before After

Um Yeah...

Just saw some pictures of myself from the weekend. Why do I still feel like I look like a whale? Could it be that at 5'11" I will never be that petite little thing that blends into the crowd? I just stand out like a big, foreboding, giant.

So the main thing is the tummy, which is unfortunately where I gain first, and is my main problem area. It is icky flabby and needs some major lovin'. And the best thing for me to do to deflate it quickly is to avoid the carbs. Which I struggle with doing for longer than 1-2 days.

You've got the wrong animal

Yep, it's the height that will stop you from ever feeling dainty (I speak from experience, of course), but you're definitely not whale material - nor are you in giant territory.   What you LOOK like is a gazelle and a model.  You're thinner but you still have the fat mentality.  Do we ever lose that?  I think it takes time.

Sounds also like you're used to working towards your goal and you're so close that it's no longer impressive to you.  Work towards getting your stomach the way you want it to.  You've already lost the weight so you KNOW you can work on the tummy and succeed.  Right?  (*I can't hear you*)  RIGHT???

Still very much proud of you,

~ Tracy

Fat Head

It's all in your head Maureen! You look like a beautifully tall, athletic and slender woman! So get the fat images outta your mind! I have no advice how to stay away from carbs though...I am useless in that arena! Keep on running and drinking that water. That little bit of extra belly will be gone in no time!! :o)

Tummy

Well, I'm short, so I can only say that I wish I were as tall as you!! The grass is always greener, ya know? I have the same tummy issue!!!! God, if only my abs were as flat as my butt and my butt were as round as my abs!!! LOL I'm backwards. :)

Anyway, we are our own worst enemy. Its too bad, too. You look great, M! And so close to goal. Doing better than I, I might add. I'm eating ok (except for that ice cream!) and I'm exercising, but that scale isn't budging much.

Good luck with that tummy and the carbs!

I totally agree

Twinkletoes is absolutely right about it being a height issue rather than a weight issue, but I totally know how you feel about still having a bit of a tummy.  On the other hand, I have no idea what it's like to be tall, and I stick out in the other way.  I'm beginning to wonder if it's easier to lose pounds than lose my tummy   Just keep doing all the things you know are right and your body will eventually comply.

Hi Maureen!

How are you doing?  How's the healthy eating going? I had a setback but I'm gaining control again...thank goodness!  Time for you to post so we can see how you're doing

Hope you're having a great summer!
