I totally forgot
Apparently I'm great at forgetting that I ate something totally terrible for me today. lol I had a grande mint mocha chip frappucino from Starbucks. It was the light version...so thats, good, right? lol Yeah...didn't think so.
For dessert tonight, I made little banana coins on top of Nilla Wafers for the kids. Before I knew it, four Nilla Wafers jumped into my mouth! The nerve of those things! I also had 1/2 of a banana.

Food Blahg
Okay, so food today!
Breakfast: Nothing
Lunch: 4 pieces of deep fried hot wings. Yikes! 1/2 banana
Dinner: Green smoothie which included
1/2 bunch of kale,
1 C. coconut water,
1/2 C. unsweetened chocolate almond milk (I ran out of coconut water and had no other liquid to put in it!),
1 frozen kiwi,
1/2 C frozen...something. I'm not sure what it was, but it was some sort of cut up fruit I had in my freezer lol
1 banana
1 T. bee pollen
The smoothie was yummy. I blended it a lot longer than I did yesterday, so it was a lot less chewy. lol I need to go buy new greens tonight. The smoothie used the last of my greens, which was good because they were starting to wilt.
I'm full, so the prickly pear will have to wait for breakfast tomorrow!

You know what I like about dieting?
Yes, there's something I actually like about dieting. Can you believe it? lol The majority of my life is spent eating the same kinds of food. If I know I'll like it, I'll buy it and I'll eat it. I just feel like it's far too expensive (especially with six kids!) to venture out and buy things that I've never eaten before because if we don't like it, we're wasting money. This holds especially true with fresh produce, which costs an arm and a leg (especially when you buy 90% organic, which I do.) I always have to buy enough for 8 people because kids get upset when you buy something for yourself to eat, but didn't also buy them some...even if you know they won't like it. So, I tend to stick with what I know will get eaten.
However, when I'm "dieting," I tend to go outside of the box. Especially with trying to be 85% raw right now, my food is pretty limited...at least if I stick with the tried and true's. There's only so many apples, oranges, white nectarines, spinach, kale, avocado and romaine lettuce you can eat. lol So, I do weird things like buy rainbow chard...and like it! Or, buy okra, having heard of it, but never actually seen it before. (BTW, it's YUMMY! I just slice it into little circles, put some Hawaiian salt (has to be the red kind...I don't like the white kind, but I think I'm going to buy the black kind, from the lava...how cool is that? lol) and eat it raw) Today, I actually, literally SQUEALED when I saw that my supermarket had prickly pear. That's the fruit from the catcus plant. I have heard REALLY good things about this fruit, but have never seen it for sale anywhere. I was actually tempted to buy a potted catcus just to get the fruit off of it, but thought better of it when I remembered that I have six kids who touch everything and the thought of pulling cactus needles out of them is not very appealing.
So, anyways, prickly pear is my new find. I think I'm going to eat it tonight for dinnef. I'll let you know what I think of it and if it convinces me that it's worth buying a cactus plant.
Oh, and Amber? You live in Arizona where it's pretty much all desert, right? lol Any cactus plants near you? lol

I'm rad!
Okay, so once again, didn't meet my water goal. :( Food today:
Green smoothie mentioned this morning
Green smoothie number 2. This time I used only coconut water, 1.5 cup frozen pineapple and about three cups of kale. It was better than the first, although I prefer to not have to chew my smoothie...I needed to blend it longer lol
Some chicken and pasta dish I made at Dream Dinners I don't remember how bad it was for me, but it tasted yummy.
2 C. coconut water
meat of 1 Thai young coconut
Okay, so why I'm rad... I have had this Thai young coconut sitting in my fridge for about a week. I have been hacking away at it, trying to get it open. Well, silly me, I should have just gone to youtube in the first place. lol So, after watching this video:
I did it! I opened my coconut. I drank the water (which is SO much better straight from the coconut than in the box that I usually get it in!), got all the meat out and am currently snacking on it. It's SO good...and I don't even like coconut! Dried coconut that you usually associate with coconut tastes NOTHING like a fresh, Thai young coconut! MMMMMMM...yummo!

Weekends are free, right?
So, I mentioned in a previous post that I consider weekends "free." I really need to stop doing that. Sure, I'm losing weight even with my free weekends, but imagine what I would lose if I didn't gorge those two days? Gee, what a concept, dumbass! lol
So, yesterday...I only drank half of my water, I had like six cookies, three tootsie rolls, a grilled chicken sandwich from Wendys and a cucumber. Yum, what a well balanced day that was!
So far today, I've had about a liter of water and two cups of the smoothie I made for breakfast. The smoothie made seven one cup servings. In it was:
One head of romaine lettuce
4 tablespoons of bee pollen
3 Tablespoons of green powder (spirulina, barley, whatever...)
1 C frozen pineapple
3 C. Cocounut water
1 avocado
1 T. lehua honey
1/2 C. frozen blueberries
It was kinda gross. Every time I put romaine lettuce in a smoothie, I drink it and remember, "Oh yeah, the last time I put some in a smoothie I decided never to put it in a smoothie again." Yeah, same thing this time. lol

Birthday Party
You know, I KNOW I'm going to feel sick if I eat a big meal of junk food. I KNOW it. So, why do I do it anyways? Stupidity...that's got to be it! lol
Three slices of pizza. Ick. It tasted good, it feels bad. I need to go lay down. I feel really sick to my stomach right now.
On a happy note, I got my daily water in today! 3 liters! Yay! Go Katie!

Go Katie! Go Katie!
Two pounds down this week! :D I got my little five pound gold star at my WW meeting today. Those things make me ridiculously happy...so much so that I've started putting little five pound gold stars in the sig lines of the members of the Biggest Loser Contest at Friends and Families for each five pounds that they hit! It seems to make them happy as well. I love sharing the gold star love!
Tonight, we're celebrating my son's birthday. We're going to Chuck E. Cheese's. Normally, I'm pretty lax on the weekends. I consider Saturday and Sunday my "free" days. So, we'll see how I do. I'm tempted to just eat at the salad bar, but I tend to think salad bars are kinda gross...who knows who has stuck their hands in that stuff! Ewwwwww.

Food blahg
Food today:
24 oz water
4 organic whole wheat apple cinnamon grahms (notice how I add that they're organic and whole wheat, like that makes it okay for me to eat it? They were baby snacks, for goodness sake! lol)
Right now I'm eating a mocko salad...fat free refried beans, organic tomato, organic salsa, organic romaine lettuce hearts
2 bananas
Food logs are so boring.

Cookies
So, I bought cookies for the kids tonight...because I thought they needed some cookies...yeah, that's it. They needed cookies. It wasn't because they looked really yummy sitting there by the register. I ate three of them...and a half. Okay, three and a half of them. Whatever.
I had a big mocko salad for dinner. Fat free refried beans, romaine lettuce hearts, chopped tomatoes, salsa. Yummo.

Blah
Okay, so yesterday I had a piece of cake. It was yummy. I'm still trying to decide whether it was worth eating or not though. lol I guess we'll see on Saturday! I also had about ten white rabbits..little Japanese candies. Yum. Not worth it though. I shouldn't have eaten them. They were good, but I could have done without them. For dinner, I had some lemon chicken piccata. I actually ate a bunch this time. I made rice for the family, so I was able to give them less of the main dish without them complaining so I could actually eat some. It was SO good! Chicken, lemon juice, capers, artichoke hearts, other stuff....just DELICIOUS. OMG, it was SO good...and totally core! How rad is that?
August first is rapidly approaching. That means the first day of my 100 day raw challenge is almost upon us. I'm scared. Hold me. lol
Yesterday I also had some deep fried death...aka chicken breast pieces from Jack in the Box. I MUST remember to keep snacks on me at all times! We were out of the house for quite a few hours and I was STARVING. I actually bought them for Allie, but ended up eating them and getting her something else. I should have just gotten the fruit cup instead of deciding that I could do without food. I was wrong...oh so wrong. :(
Today I have had some Starbursts (I really need to get the candy out of the house....MIL sent a big package of goodies for Ethan's birthday) I think I must have had some fruit as well because I can't think of anything else I've eaten today, which must be wrong because it's almost 7 o'clock at night. I didn't seriously not eat today, did I? That's not good. I think I'll have a salad for dinner tonight. I have a really yummy looking organic heirloom tomato calling my name.
