Before After

Survived the Holidays

So, I survived the holidays with minimal gain. I assume a few more pounds of bloat will come off in the coming days. My new goal is to be in the 100's by Valentines day (199.8 counts!). That'd be an 18 lb loss in a month & a half. Pretty aggressive, but since I am making changes for the better. I can try.

My reward to myself will be a new outfit and a night on the town dancing!
Let's do this.

2 Weeks Down

It has been 2 weeks since I started blogging. I do feel like it's helping.

Stress level has come down some, but still working on it. I still have a lot of nervous tension that causes me to pull at my eyebrows during the day. Sewing and doing projects with my hands is helping.

Gone to bed early the last few days in an attempt to be rested enough to do some AM yoga before work.

Being meat-free is helping dramatically. Feel like I have more energy. No migraines for months, but some light headaches this week. I upset my sleep pattern by being up too late on Saturday night.

Back on the Wagon

So, all things considered, I didn't do too bad for Thanksgiving. Had a bit more pie than usual, but resisting the turkey wasn't too hard.

This is the first Thanksgiving as a vegetarian! I have to say, just thinking about how bad I feel when I eat meat was enough to make me not want it. That, and thinking about how much hormones are in a 20 lb turkey, makes you wonder. Still, my mom is a fantastic cook, and if it weren't for the health issues that meat seems to give me, I'd be chowing down!

Survived with no weight gain, other than the water weight of the month, (which should be gone in 24 hours, since I can't seem to stop heading to the ladies room!).

I LOVE Half Days

So today is a half day at work. I get to leave at noon! I love half days because it gives you time to do the things you want to do, but in a relaxed way.

I have time to make myself a healthy lunch, do some yoga, and clean my apartment a little. Amazing what 4 hours can get you! Zen!

Namaste.

Mushroom Risotto Recipe

Here’s the recipe that I made last night. Came out soooo good!

Tight Pants

So I had a big meeting today. Everything was great except.... BIG Meeting...TINY Dress Pants. Nothing like sitting around all day in very uncomfortable and very tight pants.

BUT.. they zipped up!

So I guess things could have been worse. =)

Kryptonite Cupcakes

So I guess we all have our weaknesses. Mine is cupcakes. I had one. Not too bad. Now comes the choice to be good the rest of the day. Best not to throw the whole week away for a slip-up! It's gym time tomorrow! AM Yoga and the Gym.

Have to get some great veggies for next week while I'm at the store tonight. Anyone know a great vegetarian dish to bring when you go to someone's house for Thanksgiving? I'm still new to this. Yes, the cook knows I won't be having Turkey!

The Drive Thru + The Internet = A Thinner You!

So we all know that the drive-thru isn't the best place to grab your meals. But... if you work 50 hours a week, or are busy in general, the drive-thru is fast and easy.

What most people don't take the time to do is look up the nutrition facts of the foods they order (some order the same thing every day!). This can open your eyes to what you're really eating.  Sometimes the dressing you're putting on that salad is just as bad as having the cheeseburger!

Most restaurants have their nutrition facts online. If not, Dottie's weight Loss Zone is a great tool for looking up nutrition facts: dwlz.com

Here's a good example: You order a Grande Café Mocha at Starbucks.
As prepared it's: 330 calories and 15 gms of fat.
Take off the whipped cream and its: 260 calories and 8 gms of fat.
One last touch, change the 2% milk to skim: 220 calories and 2.5 gms of fat.

You saved yourself: 110 calories and 12.5 gms of fat!

The same can be said for cheese & mayo at Burger King, etc.
Look it up first and it can save your waistline!

Water's Just No Fun

Drinking 64 oz of water is tough, even if you like water. I know I'm dehydrated, but Coffee and other drinks taste way better than water!

Adding lemon juice helps. Sometimes I can add a Diet Snapple packet (though not a fan of Aspartame).

Anyone have any tips on how they get their water in?

We've All Been There

We've all been there. You're so good all day... you hit the gym, you eat salad, you do your best. The next morning, you jump out of bed, hop on the scale, and...

Your weight's gone up! What?!?

It's "Water Weight", or "Muscle Mass", or any of the other things that people tell you to calm you down. Doesn't mean you're not upset. I've learned that it's important not to give up at those times. Even though you're thinking "Why Bother!", hang in there.

Think of those small gains as a way of your body saying "You're doing well! I'm slowing you down so your body doesn't get shocked. You'll see it on the scale later."

The scale lies. We all know that. Trust your Jeans! If your pants fit better, or fit at all, you're doing OK.
